Chris (cmoewes) | 10 comments Trying to remember a book series. There's the main character and of course a quest. There's giants and a boat (maybe I thnk the giant pushes the boat). And different countries/kingdons. One of them is very chivalrous (knights and castles) with a side story about some forbidden love between a knight and a lady. It's driving me crazy I can't think of what this book this is. I know it's not a lot but keep trying to think about more details. I feel like there's something about a tall gate up a mountain... Any ideas helpful!

Trike The only giant + boat I know of is Saltheart Foamfollower from the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever. The rest of it doesn’t sound familiar.

OK. That might be me mixing stories in my head.

I know there was a whole thing with Knights and archers and maybe several other kingdons. Each of which became part of the hero's band of allies.

But then again I could be mixing up a bunch of book series.

Also maybe there was another kingdom that was frozen north with who made boats and stuff (but maybe that was another series)

i really need to keep track of my book better.

Oh, yeah, I could see that. I don’t think he pushes the boat, and the love triangle is pirate-princess-king, but that’s pretty close.

Chris (cmoewes) | 10 comments The knight (who isn't the main character) is in love with the wife of his liege and she loves him but she's married to the lord... there's lots of pining away. Plus the young archer support uprising the peons, but this is all side character background to the main story.... but of course is the only thing that is standing out right now.

That first bit is the relationship of Lancelot, Guinevere and Arthur. Maybe a King Arthur retelling?

That sounds like the Belgariad, but I don't remember giants pushing ships :(

Yeah, the giant and ship things wasn't right... it could be, I did recently reread that but I swear it wasn't that. I'm gonna have to figure out how to remember this.

Pamela, can you please start a new thread so that people can focus on each individually?

Pamela | 3 comments How do I do that? I'm somewhat computer challenged. Any tips on that would be greatly appreciated.

Pamela | 3 comments Thanks! This "growing old" business is a real hassle.
By the way. I'm not sure of the book Chris is looking for, but I do remember a clip from a film with a giant coming out of the water, wearing a ship on his head. Maybe that might be a clue to finding his book.
I don't know anything else about that flim. Just that one clip.

Margaret | 428 comments The film with the giant with the ship on his head is Time Bandits, which I'm afraid won't help the OP.
