I've been toying with the idea of a series challenge for a few days now, not because I actually have that many incompleted series (in comparison to other people in this group) but in order to have a better overview of how many I've started or own and have not yet started.

Good luck with your challenge! You don't have much open series... Are you aiming to get them to 0?

Hm, I don't know...I used to always read just one series at a time (and then GR happened 😂).
I guess 0 open series won't happen because there will probably always be more than one going on as a BR but I don't want the number to increase drastically either (since the goal is to keep the number of series manageable)
I went a bit crazy with the book buying this month and now a have alot more series I have not yet started than before but I want to try to read them in a more or less systematic way.

The same happened to me when I joined GR. And it only got worse when I joined this group xD

I just realized that all series I'm buddy-reading will get done in December at the latest. Maybe it'll be similar for you? :)

I'm interested in several series you own :p There's at least three I want to get to in 2019 hehe :)

Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne, Moontide Quartet and Powder Mage. Didn't realize there was a BR for Moontide, but I probably won't have time for it :/

On the top of my head, Manifest Delusions and Daughter of Smoke and Bone ends in September. The Witcher ends in December.

I'm not sure yet when I will start Powder Mage and Unhewn Throne, probably during the next two months or so (I'm not comfortable with books lying around unread for to long and my Tbr pile is to big for me at the moment. And I ordered 4 new books again, help 😂)

Uuuh! The Unhewn Throne is on my TBR as well (and for far too long already!) But I don't think I can fit it in before December...

Yeah, it should probably scare me that I know when most BRs ends xD

I'm curious to see what you think of Unhewn Throne and Powder Mage :) My list of series I MUST read in 2019 is growing alarmingly, so I need to prioritize ;)

Yeah, I'm curious as well. A lot of people here seem to like Powder Mage so I hope I will too.

I probably should get accustomed to updating this challenge 😂

Read Days of Blood and Starlight

Started the Poppy War trilogy (and will probably have to wait a while for the sequel)

Also started Casket of Souls from the Nightrunner series.

Finished Casket of Souls.
So I have only one book left in the Nightrunner series, I'm almost a bit sad because I've been enjoying it so much.

Finished Blood of Elves from the Witcher series.

I put Manifest Delusions into the sequels-not-published category. Somehow I thought it's a finished trilogy but the third book is not out yet and the book I thought was the third book is actually a standalone.

Also added how many books I've already read in each series.

Finished The Mirror's Truth from the Manifest Delusions series which is up to date now as far as it's published.

Finished the Nightrunner Series.
I feel like I could start a few new series :)

I could make it till the end of october but can't promise it. I'm not sure yet how much I will be able to read once uni starts again.

Started The Moontide Quartett (and loving it so far!)

I chose to abandon Kingmaker, Kingbreaker because the first book was meh and I'm not really interested in continuing it.

Also added The Tamir Triad to my TBR because I have no self-control need more Lynn Flewelling books in my life.

Sounds legit, you finished one series before you started another and you abandoned one before adding The Tamir Triad. :)

I have to admit that I really liked Kingmaker, Kingbreaker, but I read it years ago before reading a lot of fantasy and I don't think I would like it as much on a re-read

That's exactly the argumentation I needed! :)

Hm, there were parts I enjoyed but overall it was pretty unoriginal and nothing really happened. Also, I hated the main character and that always makes it hard to enjoy a book.

I see some of those I want to read and some I want to reread 😃

My number of unfinished series doesn't bother me, so I find it a bit hard to do this challenge properly xD

However, the number of series I own but haven't started is a bit too high for my liking.
I have now set the goal to get that number under 10 (for now) and keep it there. If I manage to read a series without buying the first book in another series during that time, those books will count for the challenge.
Let's see if that works :)

Midkemia is Riftwar, yes.

First Law is amazing! (Haha, I just typed Fist Law which is still kind of accurate ^^)
Witcher is ok-good overall but not a favorite of mine.
I'm not a big YA-reader but I looved the Strange the Dreamer duology!

I love pretty much all genres but fantasy and ya are my favs with sci fit and horror right behind them 😊
