Mead, Richelle--Succubus Blues informal buddy reads starts September 10, 2018

Of course! The more the merrier. :-)

HI Jess, welcome happy to have you join us.

I’ve tried a few more paranormals in the last week. Too many are so-so. LOL And too many try to be funny but it seems silly to me. I figured out I like dark or at least serious paranormal/urban fantasy. I found a few that I want to try. I did sample First Grave on the Right, Laura. I gave up on it because it’s one of the paranormals that try to be funny. I know! I’m picky! LOL
OK, I’ll be back in September.

Moon Called was good but the series just gets better. There is good character development. Mercy is interesting . I love the pack relationships which become more prominent in each book. The tiny overlap with the Omega series is great.

I love the new pic on your profile! Too cute!

I love Georgina’s job. Working in a bookstore would be a fun job for me too. Too bad physical bookstores are disappearing. But I love that Georgina loves books as much as I do. I am also a sucker for a geeky hero. Georgina is a Succubus and not at all shy or virginal, but with Seth, she’s definitely out of her depth. She doesn’t know how to handle his odd behavior and silences. She’s so used to people not being able to resist her. But I can relate to her idolizing a favorite author. I probably wouldn’t be any better if I could meet one of my favorite authors.
What do you think about Georgina reading only 5 pages a day?
Another element I enjoyed about this series was the backstory about Georgina’s past and how she became a Succubus. That gets developed slowly throughout all 6 books. Now that I am rereading, it will be interesting to see how things develop.

I would go crazy only reading 5 pages a day! But I guess if you have eternity then there's no rush right? I'm also jealous that she lives forever, only because she could read everything eventually if she read more than 5 pages a day.
I want to know more about her past!! This is the most intriguing thing for me right now. Besides the mystery obviously.

I don’t know how far you are in the book. Did you get to Seth’s email? I won’t say much more in case you haven’t read that. But it really illustrates who Seth is.
Good point about living forever and reading 5 pages a day. I couldn’t do it either. But my to be read list is long!

I’m out on the road all day today in customer meetings, but after dinner I should have time to read some more. Can’t wait!

Yes... I can peek at spoilers now! lol
I would love to work at a book store. Her book store sounds so much bigger ( and cooler/awesome) than mine. Georgina is definitely a people person.
Its kinda cool that as a succubus she can change her appearance. I was thinking... would I want to change mine? I 'd love to be thinner ( working on it... I 'm currently on the 30 day challenge and I walk way more!) but I think at 40 I've accepted who I am and wouldn't change anything. What about you guys?
I couldn't not read just 5 pages a day but I will admit there are a few days I don't read at all. ( life has been hectic!)

It would be fun to change my appearance, I have to admit. And Georgina does have fun with this ability throughout the books. Just a little bit of a spoiler, I guess.

Yeah, he’s wonderful with the written word. But then again he is a writer.

I forgot about Doug’s band, Nocturnal Emission. That was just too funny! Georgina’s backstory was sad. And her becoming a Succubus was a bit ironic. I didn’t realize that before. But I like how the author explores some of the pitfalls of being a Succubus. Because on the surface being a Succubus doesn’t seem so bad! LOL
I know the first time I read the book, I didn’t like Roman because he was getting in the way of Georgina and Seth’s relationship.
What do you all think about the mystery? People associated with Georgina are getting hurt. And all this research about nephelim. I already know everything about nephelim because I watch too many fantasy/sci-fi shows and movies. LOL

Seth is a bit of a nerd.. I 'm not sure if I like him yet or not.

I’ll check back to see what everyone thought about how the book ends.

I like that too. This book doesn’t take the paranormal aspect too seriously. It’s fun.

I wish they would make this into a movie with John Cusak playing a demon who is a fan of John Cusak. I think he could pull it off lol

It is fun. And I like that they behave like humans, with jobs, relationships, etc. It makes this series unique in the category, at least in my limited experience.

John Cusak playing Jerome. That’s too funny!

I unexpectedly got to read this morning while waiting for my van switch and then again tonight while waiting for my son.
I 'm up to the part where Seth has taken (view spoiler)

Yeah, both are developing feelings they can’t express for different reasons. I always liked this dynamic between them. A longing that can’t be fulfilled.

Chapter 21
(view spoiler)
I should be able to finish this before I fall asleep. I'm exhausted, but I have a feeling the last few chapters are going to be crazy.

I'm hoping to finish this tomorrow night.
I thought it would be today but we ended up going to a corn maze this afternoon with family and friends.

That sounds like fun! My husband and I tried to go to an apple orchard yesterday. We got there about 9:30 am and it was packed already. So we decided to skip it and go another day. I remember when it was a family owned orchard and we could go anytime we wanted. Now, it’s owned by a company and a lot of people from neighboring states visit in droves. Good for the orchard, not so good for me!

Synopsis
When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?
But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic. At least there's her day job at a local bookstore--free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can't.
But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle's demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won't help because Georgina's about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny. .
