The goal of this challenge is to read one book from each category in the course of the year. The challenge can be repeated throughout the year, but all 7 categories need to be completed before you start a new round.

Here are the 7 Categories:
Comedy
Crime
Family and Self
Love
Science Fiction/Fantasy
State of the Nation
War and Travel

Tr1sha | 283 comments I’ll start a new round from now. (This is a good challenge, as I seem to read more of some categories than others & this will make me choose a variety.)

Comedy:
Crime: The Glass Key
Family and Self:
Love: Wide Sargasso Sea
Science Fiction/Fantasy: The Master and Margarita
State of the Nation:
War and Travel: One of Ours

It was not as good as her other books, Rene, even if it did win the Pulitzer Prize. The parts in Nebraska are much better than the last two.

That’s disappointing - I’ve enjoyed her other books so far & was looking forward to reading this one. But thank you, your comment has warned me to lower my expectations.

As of last year, I'd have been hard-pressed to distinguish Willa C. from Kate Chopin, but The Professor's House was so good, I downloaded all the Willa Cather (fre)e-books I could find.

So I am up for a read of One of Ours, as part of this challenge.

That's good, Christopher, since it is one of September's group reads.

I have just finished The Scarlet Letter, for the third time.
The first time was in high school; the second time was long enough ago so that I forgot many of the details.

That’s interesting, Christopher. I’ve enjoyed some books by Willa Cather, especially My Ántonia, but really disliked Kate Chopin’s The Awakening.

Ha--that sounds like something you'd hear Kramer from Seinfeld say.

"Hey, Kramer...you ready to go?"

"Let me finish this book first."

"What are you reading?"

"War and Peace"
