I read Poison yesterday evening and I am not sure what to make of it, especially of how it ends. I don't know either why Lynn is acting in such a foolish, defiant way. Doesn't she realize the potential danger? Why does she refuse the chances she has to get away?

Just read it - it's a very quick read even if the theme is rather dark. I think it's a quite interesting story and exploring the psychology of those who choose to stay behind, refuse to be evacuated. Not that we get an explanation as such.
