Kate S | 6459 comments This challenge includes the 9th, 10th and 11th months of the year. Read a book with a 9-, 10-, or 11-letter word in the title.

Please post questions/suggestions about task 10.9 in this thread.

Kathleen (itpdx) (itpdx) | 1720 comments Can it be in the subtitle?

Owlette | 713 comments Can it be *any* word in the title or subtitle? No exclusions? Thanks.

Yes. I am not sure, I do not currently have any exclusions, but I am sure one may be found, if one seeks hard enough.

Karin What about letters following apostophes, such as Robertson's (this would count either way, but if it meant a word did or didn't count with or with out the letter after the apostrophe.)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14232 comments Yes, possessives work.

Okay, so we add that letter--excellent. I have to work on all of this once things settle down to a dull roar around here.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14232 comments I'll pop in and say that the word "instructions" is 12 letters. No matter how many times and ways I count it - with my cursor on the screen, on my fingers, by syllables - it's still 12 letters. I have to tell myself that it's not going to change, and it won't work for this task.

I am chuckling, because I counted the letters in a book I plan to read several times and it just never reaches 9 letters, only 8.

Kathleen (itpdx) (itpdx) | 1720 comments Between that and trying to check A-E-I-O-U, I keep going crazy and have to take a break and read!

I thought I was going to go a season without Anthony Trollope, but I found a short one that fits both of these tasks.

Valerie Brown | 3270 comments I counted my share of 8s and 12s in my 'real life' books, until I found that "Christmas" fits the bill. Just in case you were casting around for a word that is in lots of titles.

Karin I am having a bit of trouble because I book I want to read has also been simplified in a retelling and published in at least one simplified children's book and also as a retold boo so one can find the title on bpl but not the book as published by Penguin.

Nutcracker and Mouse King and the Tale of the Nutcracker are more complex, etc, that what we see in ballet. It was written in 1812. I don't see this book on bpl, but perhaps I missed it?

A volume with multiple titles is not checked.

I usually avoid Christmas romances but I may start reading them now! ;)

eta: Silly me, I just realized the book I started today is Grandma Gatewood's Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail!

Okay, so I should be alright then for combo points?

Yes, compound words work. (Sorry for the slight delay - I had to look how we handled this previously.)
