Review: In this concluding volume of the Finishing School series Sophronia is a senior taking her last classes and tests while keeping an eye out for evil plots by the Picklemen. She finds them invading the school and the New Year's Ball. When she figures out their final agenda Sophronia is put to her hardest test, to foil the plot. Lots of action and a good resolution to the series.

Also, looks like the books for that series should be on the bookshelf. What series is it and I'll add it.

It's always a delight to read a book from this series because it's silly but fun, sometimes you need an easy read.
Jess is wrapped into attending a wedding in Punta Cana, dragged onto a pirate ship tour by her bitchy cousin. The thing is that the ship is filled with bloodthirsty vampires. Out the port hole she goes to swim back to shore...and be rescued by an immortal.
Poor Raffaele had his work cut out for him, convince Jess that he is a good person and that they belong together without letting slip that he is also a vampire. Jess's introduction in the immortal world was very dramatic so it was very fun reading about them dancing about the issue. I feel a little bit bad for Vasco the pirate, he has zero people skills and would be better keeping his mouth shut all the time.

Well, you are in a good position because you are up-to-date in your reading.

Review: Major Tarver Merendsen is aboard the luxury spaceliner, Icarus, being lauded for a much publicized rescue when he meets Lilac LaRoux. Unknown to him at the time she is the daughter of the richest man in the galaxy. When she pulls him in and then humiliatingly dumps him by revealing her identity, he categorizes her as a snob and avoids her. UNTIL, Icarus runs into a rift in hyperspace and begins to collapse and Tarver and Lilac end up alone on an escape pod and then crashed on an unknown planet. They must rely on each other to survive and find a way to make contact. But this is no world either has seen before and whispers they hear may be driving them mad. Finding the answers to the mystery of the planet and a way to escape is an exciting and well told story. One of the best YA science fiction stories I have read in quite a while. Looking forward to the next volume.

I'll be reading for the next shelf

You have marked a wrong book for my 3rd shelf. I just now picked it and its [bookcover:Outlander|10964]

Me too....and there is nothing I can do. I feel so useless :(

Sorry about the mix-up with the books....that's what happens when I make an update from my phone, the window is too small.
I feel for you Laura about your cat. I had a old siamese cat that we had to let go last July, she had too many health issues and she was at the end of her quality of life. Anyway, she would go out every day there wasn't any snow but always came back in the evening. It happened once or twice that she did not come back for a few days, always without her collar and tags.
We always suspected that she got held up but always managed to come back. Most average cats travel about 10 km/day (ok there is a lot of back and forth depending on ''hunting ground'').
I'm not saying that she is gone for good but if your cat can come back....she will. They have a great sense of direction so it would be very surprising for the cat to get lost (unlike me if I circle 2-3 times I can't find north for a while).

Sorry about the mix-up with the books....that's what happen..."
I know cats can go for long trips. I know people who's cat was away 3 months and he was completely fine. I hope he'll come back once it starts raining and it promises rain on Monday. so I guess I need to wait till then and see.

Just a little heads up. It’s Sunday evening for me and tomorrow is a provincial election. I’ll be working in at a voting station?, so I won’t have access to my phone, internet or social media. It’s more a question of keeping the voting process confidential.
So I won’t be reachable until tomorrow late in the evening and will update our stats on Tuesday.
On another note I’m done with my Free Space book and started my Own it book. I’ll write my review (or reviews) on Tuesday as well.
Read on!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time, watching democracy at work but it was pretty tiring (it is compulsory voting here, so everyone has to vote).
Have you done it before Val?

And yep, an extremely long day. Do you have to do the preliminary count at the end?

It's on the group bookshelf (Thanks Sandra!)
It's the conclusion of the Knox and Harper story arc. The fourth and last Horseman has yet to make a move and bring to the table a terrible foe. Lots of Asher cuteness and smart ass comments that I love.
Took one start out because it was a bit too obvious who the bad guy was but liked it all the same and looking forward to secondary characters getting their story told.

Review:
Still love the chapter headings, whether tshirts or bumper stickers or even just quotes.
Charley still doesn't quite get the fact she is a God and can't be killed by just anybody or thing, and Reyes is determined to make her listen, even throwing her off a building & landing on the interstate with trucks & cars passing through them. All so Charley will realise who she is and be able to keep Beep safe.
Lots happening with Ubie worrying Cookie, who thinks he must be having an affair, Amber having stalker problems, the mad God Eidolon trying to find Beep, Archangel Michael and a load of angels following Charley around & Officer Taft mysteriously on leave for months which is worrying Shortcake. Not to mention a Colombian Drug Cartel boss & his henchmen. Charley's new case brings an almost brother-in-law and an evil religious cult into killing babies who have been "marked". We have Charley finding out lots more about herself but also heartbreak.
We have all our favourites Angel, Artemis, Osh and Charley's family as backup and of course the sexy God Reyes.
Huge cliffhanger and am so happy I waited to read this one until I had #12 in my hands.

Review: Arthur Dent finds himself back on Earth despite its having been blown up 8 years before. As he is trying to figure out what happened he meets a mysterious girl who is also questions what happened 8 years ago. During their quest and developing love they meet John Watson, Wonka the Sane, who's house is inside out, learn all the dolphins have disappeared, see London invaded by robots and get a visit from Ford Prefect. Then their quest takes them off planet. A little more logical with the same wacky humor and satire as the last book but still not as good as the first volume.

I totally despised Hugh from the Kate Daniels series so I went into this story with a lot reservations.
I love the world of tech and magic, everything is fleshed out, the monsters originate from creative and obscure lore.
Hugh, having done unspeakable evil at the direction of Roland, failed him and was discarted. He was a tool that was no longer useful or in favor. In this absolute rock bottom state, he was able to realize that the love and devotion he blindly gave to Roland he could give to his Iron Dogs still loyal to him. His loyalty made it possible for me to believe he could redeemed.
While not very romantic, the marriage between Hugh and Elara was filled with barbed comments that was fun to witness.

Fabulous news Laura :)

Review This is awesome book! I loved the story and how steamy this book is. It takes a bit different spin on vampires, which I enjoyed and I liked there was Greek Gods mixed into it. It was a great start to the series and makes me wanna continue with it...Hopefully the next book is as good.

I'm appointed with this latest book. The Hunter legacy is a spin-off the Midnight Breed series so the world building is already present and established. Every book is pretty formulaic with a simple story arc...except this spin-off does not seem to have any.
Cain is a product of the Hunter program and should have ingrained training/instincts for stealth, infiltration and assassination. Instead he choose to roam for 20+ years doing odd jobs and simply living. I have issues when a character presented in the previous book as a head of security has zero suspicions that he can be followed, electronically tracked or even think of teaming up with his brothers if a situation seems dicey.
Marina, from a russian crime family, was too stupid to live and actually got saved by Cain too many times to have any redeeming qualities.
Rant over.

Review: This series is awesome! This time Angle ends up in New York City and of course she finds herself in a situation where she needs to be kick ass. I love this series has lot of action in it, no dull moments. This book ended bit of bad note at least for me, because of Angle's bad habits are back.

Review:
Eve is reluctantly out at a bar having a drink with Forensic Anthropoligist DeWinter when Larinda Mars, gossip tv reporter at Channel 75, staggers out of the restroom hallway. When Eve gets to her she sees all the blood & despite 2 doctors also being present, Larinda is no more.
Digging into Larinda, it isn't long before it becomes apparent, that gossip goes hand in hand with blackmail, which really opens up the suspect pool. Larinda was addicted to secrets and had some big ones of her own.
Lots of good Eve & Roarke moments, Peabody & McNab looking forward to going to Mexico after the case and Nadine digging into her ex-colleague to help out Eve and hold up Channel 75's reputation.
I wasn't surprised by the bad guy, I actually couldn't think of anyone else it could be, however, as always it was very well done.
