Week 5: Time Travel
Book:

How it fits: MPG Time Travel
I have a lot of real life things to do this week, so I'm happy that I can flip back and forth between audiobook and ebook with this one. I'm also curious about the Kindle in Motion part.

Read: 11/10/18
Rated: 5 Stars
My Review: I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would. I liked getting to know Hugh, and I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between him and Elara as they battled wits. So many questions unanswered though, a lot where addressed, dealt with and resolved but I felt as if it barely scratched the surface. We definitely need more of Hugh and Elara, I won't be content until we get to the bottom of all her secrets!

Shelf: Time Travel
Book: The Highlander's Touch by Karen Marie Moning
Read: 10.14.18
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
This was so good!! I really don't remember the first two books in this series, but I don't think you need to. I believe it's this book and on to the end of the series that ties in with Moning's Fever series. I have read all, but the most recent in that series, and I know these characters have popped up there and I've always been slightly confused when they do. That being said, this book was great! It is definitely apparent that this was an earlier book in Moning's writing career, but it doesn't take a way from the plot and the way things come together. I don't feel like there was a large conflict/resolution, but I think the main focus was the relationship between Circenn and Lisa. I can't wait to get to the next books.

Week 0 ~ Free Space is complete!
Stamp request has been submitted. (A few days ago actually, I just got distracted and forgot to post here.)
Hope everyone had a great weekend and good start to the week!

Week 5: Time Travel

Book: Timebound by Rysa Walker
Date Read: 10/14/2018
Rating: ★★★★
How it fits: MPG Time Travel
Review:
I should probably preface the review by saying I'm not a big time travel fan. Still Timebound turned out to be more interesting than I expected. I thought the basic premise of time travel being established in a future century and being used for purposes of historical research was interesting; however, I found it hard to believe a group that could figure out how to time travel would not have a backup system in place to prevent the stranding of its employees. All of the characters were well done, although it felt like Trey was only there to add the potential of a love triangle. The plot was fast paced and engaging, but I did feel like there needed to be some subtitles to make tracking the setting easier as it got a bit confusing once the jumping around in time began. My biggest complaint is that Kate's grandmother kept talking about how the time line should never be changed. Taken to it's logical conclusion, she should have had Kate stop Saul from stranding all the time travelers in the first place. Instead, she took it upon herself to decide to only make changes to try to stop Saul's plans and preserve the timeline as she wanted it to be.

Good Job!! :D

I didn't get much reading done this weekend and stopped my time travel book because it was getting really sad & I had a BR already in the works. I'll finish my book later this week/weekend!

Week 6: Motorcycle Club
Book: Lyric's Accidental Mate by Elle Boon
How it fits: tagged Motorcycle Club 3 times
I thought when I saw this shelf that I had never read a book tagged motorcycle club. Apparently I've read at least two. This one and a Jane Yellowrock book (which I can't read right now because I'm currently hoarding books that could be used for Y for wheelathon). Since nothing else jumped out at me on the list, I'll just go with a reread this week.

You could always do the new one of the new alternative reader's choice options for this shelf. They are listed at the bottom of the first post in the shelf announcements thread.

My Review: I'm an emotional wreck after that, what a book!
I loved it in so many ways. Conlan was perfect, and Kate's actions concerning him had me cheering. I loved how the protective side of her came out, everything we have seen in each book that led to this point just felt natural in her new role. Curran annoyed me, which he has been known to do but I still love him.
I liked that we seen more of Hugh, and Elara and resolved some issues.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, book hangover is pending for sure. Need to ingest it all first.

Yeah! Glad you loved it! Conlan is awesome!

I don't want you to leave. This is my first time as captain for bingo, so I messaged Sandra because I wasn't sure of the procedure or how strict the mods are on the three book rule. I made sure she knew you were checking in and working on catching up and asked about sending you a pm first. She said she would look at the thread and get in touch with you. I apologize and am happy to have you continue with us.

I don't mind either way, just giving you the option.

My Review: I'm at the stage with these that I am starting to get annoyed with Nix and her meddling, in the beginning I loved her kooky ways and her unique way of looking at things, but now she angers me a lot. I know it's pnr so we are guaranteed a happy ending, but it still annoys me even though everything works out. I am no longer sure if I am looking forward to her book or dreading it.
I liked Lila, strong kick ass women who don't wait for men to rescue them are the kind of heroines I enjoy reading about. I loved the little glimpses of the creatures we met in this book. Sian is a typical stubborn alpha male blinded by his hatred and the past, yet somehow they work.

Great job all! Go Michelle!

I love it when a bingo shelf matches up with one of my next in series shelf books. Enjoy!

Me too, especially long neglected series.

It's good! I hope you enjoy it!

Shelf: Motorcycle Club
Book: It Ain't Me, Babe by Tillie Cole

Review:
The most intriguing part of this was the religious cult aspect. I will also note that this is a graphic book. There is a lot of mentions of rape, child abuse, and physical abuse. I didn't necessarily see the connection between Styx and Mae at first, it really took awhile to build up. I also didn't necessarily like some of the language used by the MC. That doesn't necessarily mean that I don't like cussing, I do, but Styx refers to Mae as bitch on multiple occasions, and it just doesn't sit well with me, even if the language is accurate for an MC. It was suspenseful, and interesting. I am still interested in the series, and curious about some of the other brothers.

Week 5: Time Travel

Book: Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Review:
This one was the best of the series so far! Not perfect, a little repetitious (as this author has a habit of doing it seems), but the emotion this one brought out in me is what made me up my rating to 5 stars.
I love me a tortured hero but Kenyon took it way above and beyond what I ever could've imagined. It was so utterly heartbreaking to read Zarek's story (yes I did cry). The torture he endured from his very first breath, the suffering, the loneliness, the unwarranted disdain he received from everyone around him. The messed up thing about it all was that he didn't deserve any of it! If anyone deserved an HEA, it was definitely this character.
I'm still not completely sold on this series but I'm willing to read a couple more. There is no huge series arc so far so I'm wondering where this series is going to go. And I REALLY want to read Archeron's story and that is still quite a ways down the line.

Week 6: Motorcycle Club

Book: Under Locke by Mariana Zapata

Review:
Luckily this wasn't like the typical MC stories because I wasn't really in the mood for it, and the MC's actions/dealings weren't a central part of the story. Instead it was a cute, slow evolving romance between a likable heroine and a stereotypical alpha male (including asshole behavior and anger issues).
I really enjoyed this story but did find it moved at a much slower pace than I would've liked. Also could've done without the drama her father placed them in but know that it was necessary for the progression of Dex & Iris' relationship. There was no angst or a lot of drama so while it was entertaining and the characters were endearing, unfortunately it didn't have that extra something to put it over the top, to make it extra special or especially heart-warming. It was almost one-note...
Don't get me wrong, I did like it. It was good. Just not great.

Review:
This was a light fluffy paranormal read. Lyric and Rowan made a cute couple although he seems like an odd fit (former special forces turned security consultant) with the rest of the pack/motorcycle club. The plot was bare bones and had the potential for more development that would have made it a better story. I would have liked to see the secondary characters more developed as well. Still it was a quick enjoyable read.

My Review: While I did enjoy this I didn't love it. You can tell these are written before the Fever series and it was nice to see some regular faces and se how their secrets/stories unravelled. At this point I am not sure what to think of Adam. The story in this book was second place to the romance between the characters and I prefer KMM's UF take on books. That said it was a quick enjoyable read and I will read the next one. At some point.

I'll be reading
