Mark (markmtz) | 2822 comments I listened to Reading Glasses Ep. 66 this weekend (Mallory and Brea are a trip!)

http://www.maximumfun.org/reading-gla...

and learned about Library Extension

https://www.libraryextension.com/

an extension for the Chrome browser (coming soon for Firefox) that shows you what your local library has available when you are browsing Amazon or Goodreads.

I installed and it works! A very clever and useful app for browsers.

I use this at home and work (public library purchasing). Works fantastic and have shown many other librarians. We all find it time consuming.

Article: "Why I’m done with Chrome" by Matthew Green

Excerpt: "Today I wanted to write specifically about Google Chrome, how much I’ve loved it in the past, and why — due to Chrome’s new user-unfriendly forced login policy — I won’t be using it going forward."

Yeah, I've stopped using Chrome at work. At home, I'm deeply embedded in the Google environment, so Chrome's new "you're opted-in no matter what you want" policy is less meaningful.

Mark (markmtz) | 2822 comments Google apparently plans to let users decide if they want Google services to signe them into Chrome too. The change will come with version 70 of Chrome, coming next month.

Chris Bryant | 2 comments I am just now getting around to the adding the library extension. Fantastic. Thanks for the info.

TraceyL | 76 comments Wow! I just installed it and it even works for Audiobooks through my Libby/Overdrive app. I usually browse for books on my computer, and have my phone by my side to search in the app to see if the book I'm looking at is available. Now it's all in one!
