I was a lucky one, too. My eleventh word was reader. :) That was quite a relief after my ninth and tenth words, hierarchy and ho.

I LOVE Louise Erdich's work, especially 'The Beet Queen' and 'Love Medicine'. I think you'll enjoy it.

I don't know Katie. You might have found some really interesting books using the word 'ho'...

LOL!

LOL, yeah, there is probably some street lit with ho in the title. Most of the books I found were about Ho Chi Minh, or were titled with expressions like gung ho or tally ho. I was surprised when ho came up in the generator. The dictionary says it's an interjection "used as a call to attract attention." I guess that is the contemporary usage, too, kind of...

message 57: by Deirdre (new)

Deirdre Skaggs (deirdre04) | 101 comments I was very worried about this task because my first 8 words were absolutely ridiculous... Then came words 9, 10, and 11: war, paper, wet. Yay!

message 58: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments Mine were difficult. Integer. Didn't want to read about math. Settled on Maker and peered at The Carpet Makers. From the reviews, it looks good!

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments Integer?? Wow. I love math and all, but.... I don't particularly want to read God Created the Integers : The Mathematical Breakthroughs That Changed History... Sorry Stephen Hawking! I mean, maybe if it wasn't 1160 pages long... Maybe if it was 160 pages long...

Slayermel | 53 comments That's too funny

message 61: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments Yes. Exactly Sara. And I work around a bunch of mathematicians! Oh and the other word was governed. Didn't want to use that one since I anticipated some biographies later on.

I got 'Proof' too! I'm using Baby Proof by Emily Giffin for the task, but you did get really good words!

message 64: by Petra (new)

Petra I think I rather lucked out on my words (Baroque, Bad, Scarf). Man, some of the words generated are brutal!

message 66: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) I got prey, work ethic and panothetic(sp)

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Teresa - Prey isn't bad, but the others, OUCH! I was lucky, I got Cost, Citizen and Conduct.

Teresa (teresainohio) Lyn wrote: "Teresa - Prey isn't bad, but the others, OUCH! I was lucky, I got Cost, Citizen and Conduct. "

LOL I have no clue on the meaning of panothetic

and the work ethic book would probably be some boring non ficiton book on how to behave with ethic in the work place YUCK

message 69: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 1535 comments Teresa wrote: "I got prey, work ethic and panothetic(sp) "

Teresa,

If you like mysteries, John Sandford has written a whole "Prey" series centered around detective Lucas Davenport. I think there are around 19 books in this series, all with "Prey" in the title. I've read quite a few and really liked them.

message 70: by Katie (new)

Katie (katieisallbooked) | 260 comments I fell pretty lucky. I got Recycling, President & Genius.

Should be easy to find something with one of those words, but so far I'm not having any luck.

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers is a good read.

I'm not sure if the rules allow you to make the word possessive, but you might try All the President's Men.

That's the first one that came to mind for me. If I don't already own something that fits this, I'll probably read this one.

I don't think we can modify the word from what the generator gives us. Even if we could I've already read All the President's Men and I'd prefer no re-reads. Good idea, though.

message 73: by Beth F (new)

Beth F | 669 comments You can't modify the word but Cynthia did give the okay to close the window browser, reopen it and get a new set of 9, 10 & 11 words (see message #25 from this thread).

I did this and got some much better words that will also allow me to use a book I already own instead of having to add to the pile (which is my primary goal for this challenge).

message 74: by Amy (new)

Amy (signgirlamy) I got are, matter, and it... weird short words

Katie | 4 comments Amy wrote: "I got are, matter, and it... weird short words"

How strange! Lucky you, though.

message 76: by Amy (new)

Amy (signgirlamy) Word # 5 or 6 was and... that would have almost been too easy

message 81: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1 comments I got rate, over and flame. What can I do with that? I hate economics. Rate sounds like it would involve an economics book. Which I guess leaves me over and flame.

How about Daily Rate #67? It seems to be a romance.

Katie - Type "rate" into the search line at Amazon.com (limit your search to Books) then in the left hand margin click on Fiction and Literature. You're bound to find a title that tickles your fancy.

If you really hate your words....you could do the random word generator again to see if you get better words a second or third time around.

This is a fantastic book by my favorite author.

message 93: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie My words were: syntax, toggle, and searching. And believe me, when I did that next click after TOGGLE, I was praying for something I could work with. I am going to go with another book that has long been on my to-read list: Searching for Bobby Fischer The Father of a Prodigy Observes the World of Chess
