Christy | 358 comments Hello fellow Challengers! I'm headed off on a five-day backpacking trip next week, and of course I'm bringing a book because that is who I am as a person. I can only bring one (no e-reader), and it has to be a not-too-heavy, not-too-short paperback. Other rules: no horror, nothing actually about backpacking.
So what do you recommend?

If it helps, I still need to fill the following prompts for the challenge:
bookstore/library
heist
mental health
book set in the decade I was born (80s)
microhistory

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I would recommend The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. Paperback is 288 pages. This would work for the bookstore prompt. It's a delightful book.

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1301 comments It may be too long, but I'm reading The Lies of Locke Lamora for the heist prompt. The edition I'm reading is 750 pages.

Oh, it would have been ideal! Unfortunately, I've already read it.

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1301 comments Have you read the next in the series? I'm pretty sure they must also involve heists...

Christy | 358 comments In case anyone's wondering, I picked Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, and I think it'll be the perfect fun, light read, especially if we have to go to bed early because of rain. Now everybody cross your fingers and toes that it won't rain too much!
