The problem with being blind though was that no one believes she is capable of taking care of herself when clearly she can. The argument from today was still on her mind. Her mother yelling at her and trying to advise her that she needed to think about herself and find someone that would take care her. I could take care of my own self! Elizabeth thought to herself. Her mom was determined to find someone for her to marry. Even though her mother wouldn’t admit it, she knew that was impossible, and that too made her angry. Who would marry a peasant like her, blind and unable to work? Elizabeth was too lost in thought that she forgot to turn when she was supposed to, and instead she was walking straight towards the river.
London made sure his hood was in place as he walked along. He didn't want that attention, glad he had managed to slip passed that guards that usually followed him around when he went out. If they had come along he wouldn't have been able to enjoy the place like he wanted. They would have just been looming behind him constantly reminding him of what he shouldn't do. But they weren't here now, and he could go on exploring to his hearts content. And now he was was walking on nice path just outside the village. It was nice and quiet, and the scenery was beautiful. The river beside flowing, he decided to stop and take a moment to enjoy it. He stood by the edge of the river just listened to it, the sounds were enough to calm him for now. At least until he got back home, but all he wanted to think about was now. He stood there for a moment before he heard someone coming up. He looked back just as he saw someone heading right for the river. Did she plan on swimming, and fully clothed? He quite sure what was going on, but he knew the water was still pretty cold.
"You'll get sick if you go in there." He told her, lifting an eyebrow curiously as he watched her head for it.

A gasp escaped her lips as she came to a complete stop just before the edge. Her grip on the wooden basket tightened as she turned to face the source, even though she was blind. She was lost at words first, confused to find someone. Normally she was always alone on this path. “Excuse me?” She said in a confused tone to what he said.
He blinked as he heard her confused tone, taking a few steps closer to her. Maybe she didn't hear me, he thought to himself.
"The river?" He explained a bit more. "It's freezing, you'll get sick if you go for a swim right now." He got closer and looked at her. Something was different about her, but for some reason he couldn't put his finger on it, maybe it was the fact that she didn't recognize him. Most people did right away, since he was so close to her it sort of surprised him. It took him a second to realize what was happening as he looked at her. She was looking in his direction but not fully at him. Was she blind? He didn't want to just come out and ask it like that, not wanting to offend her. So he didn't say anything about it. She had got here on her own, beside this she seemed to be getting around fine on her own.

With a sigh, Elizabeth kneeled down, her hands moving around her to look for the basket. She found it and felt the inside to see if anything was still in there. But it was empty. She frowned, and her hands started to pat the floor in search of the vegetables that had fallen over the edge, but she didn’t know. “I’m sorry to have wasted your time sir, but I can take care for myself now.” She said, a hint of stubbornness, even if it didn’t look like she was doing a good job at it at the moment. The only thing in her mind now was that this man was thinking of how dumb it was for her to be alone now that he found out she was blind.
He noticed how she stepped away from him, but didn't get to help in time as the basket spilled to the ground. He went to kneel down to help her, but stopped for a moment as she said she didn't need help. He pressed his lips together, feeling bad just standing there and watching. He wasn't just going to let her feel around until she found every bit of them. He sighed and knelt down anyway.
"It's not a waste of time." He told her softly. "I'm glad to help." From the way she spoke, he knew she didn't want anyone pitying her. And he wasn't going to do that, it was the farthest thing from his mind. All he wanted was to help now, since she seemed like she did need it.

As she was searching for the vegetables, she heard movement next to her, and before she knew he was next to her, helping her pick up the vegetables. She stopped searching, but this time she didn’t lift her head like earlier. She just stared at the floor, listening to what he said. Elizabeth bit the inside of her cheeks, feeling stupid. He thought she needed help. She had almost ran into the river like an idiot. She really felt pathetic, searching for the vegetables, and not knowing half of them already fell into the water. Now she was definitely sure he pitied her, having to watch her as she wasted her time.
But when he spoke, and he assured her she wasn’t wasting his time. He sounded kind. She just went back to searching for the vegetables, finally finding some and putting them into the basket.
He grabbed the last of the ones on the ground and put them into the basket. He looked over seeing the rest had rolled into the water. A lot of them had already been swept away down river, but some of them were still right were he could grab them. He stood up and went over to the edge and reached over and scooped up the ones that were still floating there. Once he had all of them he came back over and put them into her basket. He looked from her to the basket, thinking for a moment.
"...there you go." He said softly. He reached down and gently helped her to her feet. He picked up the basket and handed it over to her.

"Unfortunately not." He said feeling a bit bad he couldn't fully help her. If the water wasn't so cold he would have tried to go after the rest. "The rest got swept away down river." He glanced over to the water again, plus it was moving pretty fast. She looked very distraught over the missing vegetables, he wondered if there was something he could do. "I'm sorry." He felt bad for having startled her in the first place, if he hadn't of then she still would have had all of them. "Let me make it up to you." He suddenly know how to fix her current predicament, though he wasn't sure if she would even accept his offer. But he wanted to at least try, it was the least he could do after all.

"I can make up for the vegetables you lost." He told her. "I feel responsible for them falling in, at least let me replace the ones that were lost." He noticed how worried she seemed about it, and he didn't want to be the cause of that worry. If he could help her with this problem, maybe he would have done something good. He wondered how differently this would have gone if she had been able to see him and know who he was. But somehow he was glad for that, she didn't know. It was what he wanted after all. It was why he was out here with no guards exploring on his own. So he could at least pretend he was just a normal person.

She really was a determined girl, he thought to himself. He had wanted to tell her not to worry about it. But he stopped himself seeing the look of determination on her face, and hearing it in her voice. He sort of admired that. Even though she had a bit of trouble, she still wanted to do things on her own. He wished he had that, which was another reason why he liked to come out on his own.
"Alright." He said softly after a moment. He felt a bit bad though that she wanted to do so, he could very easily get what she had lost. But maybe it was also a good thing she believed she needed to pay him back. "I promise."

"It's nice to meet you Elizabeth." He managed a bit of a smile, deciding whether or not to tell her his name. He decided to go for it, nobody called him by his name, he was just the Prince or your majesty. People didn't care about his name, or what he wanted really. He didn't really like that, it was kind of annoying. "I'm London." He introduced himself to her, as if he was just a normal person. Not royalty but a commoner. "Come on, lets see about replacing those."

He hadn't wanted to just assume she wanted help, he would have felt bad if he had just grabbed her hand or something and led the way without her asking for it. But turned back to her, glad she had asked and came back over to her.
"Of course." He gently took her hand and put it through his looped arm, leading the way back to the market. It was one of the places that he liked to frequent, when he would come out on his own to explore. As long as there was a crowd no one seemed to pay him any mind and just go about there business. Of course having his hood cover most of his face helped too.

London glanced over to her as they walked along, wondering what this looked like from the outside. Nobody really could see his face, but he guessed most people around here knew who she was. He didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea about her, but he also didn't want to let her go and she lose her way again. There was silence for a while as they walked before he decided to speak up.
"So Elizabeth." He said softly, deciding to maybe try and get to know her a bit. He felt it was the proper thing to do right now, and they had some time before they reached the market. "Do you take that path a lot?" He was really just curious, seeing how determined she was, he wondered why he hadn't run into her before.

So she really was more independent then he thought, again he couldn't help but admire that. She just wanted to do things on her own.
"Some times." He said, trying to not give away to much, but also not really wanting to lie. He found an in between point. "It's a nice place to go and just clear my head." He glanced over to her for a moment before looking forward again. He wasn't going to tell her that coming out here was the only solace had away from his duties. Away from the castle where every move he made someone was watching him, to make sure he was acting the right way.

"I am." He nodded his head, deciding now he fully had to lie. It was easier for to think he was just some common man. He didn't need the added complications of her knowing he was the prince. She probably wouldn't be talking to him now if he had told her otherwise. "But I...live more on the outskirts of the village." A bit more closer to the truth, but still not fully.

He smiled slightly, he hadn't ever described himself to anyone before, so it would be a bit difficult. But he wanted to try.
"Well...." He thought for a moment. "I have light blue eyes...piercing I've been told." He didn't quite understand that part, his eyes were just his eyes. He didn't think there were anything special about them. "I have dark hair....uh I guess I'm pretty tall." He wasn't very good at describing things to begin with. But he had given her the basics at least. Whatever she pictured would be fine with him.

He laughed a bit embarrassed as he thought about that, telling her his eyes were blue didn't matter. He kicked himself for having done so, but didn't let on. He would just have to learn to describe things better.
"I'm 19." He told her, having been caught up in trying to describe himself the right way to her he had forgotten about that part. He wondered if he offered to let her touch his face and everything if that would wrong, he didn't want to be to forward with it. He decided against it that had just met after all, if they ever saw each other again maybe he would. "What about you? "How old are you?"

He sort of laughed at that, he understood how she felt. Most of the time he was around people a lot older then him. And he didn't have anyone his age to be around, it was rather annoying. His life was secluded, not by choice but because he was constantly guarded. He always felt lonely, which was another reason he tended to sneak out.
"Old men have a lot of interesting stories though." He slightly teased her. He smiled slightly, wondering if he could actually be friends with her.

London laughed along with her as he heard the story. He had heard plenty of interesting stories from older men, most of the time when he was out like this. He would find people to talk to and end up listening to stories for hours. The one that he liked use to work in the castle, but he was no longer there. He was somewhere in the village now, he just never found him again.
"That is quite a story." He said chuckling softly. "So was the horse okay?" He asked a small smirk on his face as he asked.

London looked over to her for a moment, before looking forward again as they neared the marketplace. It wasn't as crowded as it had been when he came by earlier. Which was okay with him considering it would make him less conspicuous. He thought about what would happen once all this part was done. Somehow he didn't want this to be it, he really did want to see her again. It was nice to talk to her.

He led the way down the path, moving them through the small crowd. Going passed a few of the stalls before they came to the one they needed. He quickly remembered what she had lost, going over it in his head.
"Okay." He said biting his lip as he tried to find everything, it wasn't to hard. He was glad he had been out here a few times before. Otherwise he knew he would never be able to do this for her. He probably would even have gotten lost. But thankfully he knew exactly what he was doing.

London noticed the weird look the man kept giving him, wondering what it was for. Glad he couldn't really see his face, under the dark hood. But he guessed it was only because he knew her, and was wondering what he was doing with her. He paid the man after they had everything they needed, nodding to him as they turned to leave.
"Got everything you need now." He said smiling slightly. "Are you...sure that's all you need?" He wasn't sure why he had the urge to spend more time with this girl. He realized maybe it was because she interested him, and it would be nice to have a friend outside the castle. Someone to see the next time he decided to sneak out again.
