From the Book to the Big Screen discussion

Ok fellow mods, I have an idea and I want to know if you guys could help me with it.

We need to think of something BIG, HUGE...to get the group active

Yes, we do. I'm going to invite some more people. But, I know that Games usually keep groups active.

If you really want to go BIG we can do a challenge of some sort.. maybe a READ-A-THON that circles around Book to Movie adaptations.

So I've been thinking of things to do, but if it's okay to promote my book meme, could we do that and have members share their answers.

It's called Soundtrack Saturday, and basically you make a soundtrack for a book you're reading. I do it in my head when I think a book would be a great movie.

Oh, and I went to Erie, PA over the weekend, and the only bookstore that I knew about up there is now a tattoo parlor. I was so upset. I wanted to get me some more books. lol

I know, right? I guess the bookstore wasn't popular. But it was next to the Harley dealership, so now it's bikes and tattoos. lol

We could include some classics in the boards to make things more interesting.

A lot of Jane Austen's books are considered YA because of the young POVs. Same with the Bronte sisters.

Alright. I get them up some time tomorrow or later in the week. I want to make sure I get some of the best ones, but I'll probably put them all in one folder, and name it classics or something.

I really like the comic book idea. Can we also have something set up for graphic novels that have been adapted?

Also... what if we included a Fairytale folder? We could just sum each fairytale up in one discussion board and people could talk about the stories and movie adaptation in one place?

I like fairytale to movie and yes I think that having the graphic novels and fairytales folders in their own discussion place

I had another idea...

I thought it would be a good idea to post when certain TV channels are playing movies based on books. We could make a separate folder for it, and allow members to jot it down for other members.

I know we might have members from other countries, so I was thinking this could be the format:

Book:
Movie:
Country:
TV Channel:
Time Slot:

I don't know... what do you all think?

I like the idea, but I don't know how I feel about having my own assistant. I tend to be independent, and having people on my toes kind of bothers me. I don't want to have whoever it is feeling bad because I don't ask for help. You know?

Yeah I mean how I see it is that you ask your assistant for help WHEN you NEED it. I am the same way and I just wanted someone to help the group as a modishy type way when you are inavailable.

I like it. Unfortunately though, I won't be much help 'cause I don't really follow TV.

Mod Jobs are starting on October 1st, a challenge has been created, BOTM is being decided, movie night is happening, and other things.

Hey, I was thinking... I've noticed some of our members are only here to promote things like blogs, other groups, and giveaways. I don't really like that, especially if they aren't commenting or coming back to delete their expired topics. Would it be okay for me to remove those members from the group?

Sure! I guess they aren't really contributing to the group in a way that they should. Maybe give them a warning, and then remove them.

Okay. It's just always so annoying to go in and delete topics that people leave and forget about. I'll be removing inactive promo members from now on. :)

Yeah... sadly people only join groups to promote stuff instead of actually interacting with the members. I don't mind promoting, but when it gets to the point when they are only doing that and never checking to delete or move inactive stuff, it gets annoying.

That's cool, but what do you mean- like how?

Having a folder that has links to other things.

I think that's a good idea. Maybe have that at the top so it's clear.

For the December BOTM, could the wording be changed? A lot of people don't celebrate Christmas, so making it be just Christmas could be excluding others who might want to read something about another holiday.

I don't want to step on your toes, but allowing people to include other holidays might get a better response.

Yeah, thats what I wanted but the wording just did not come out right. I had every intention to include all the other holidays. I will get right on that.

Okay. I'm one of those people who say "Merry Christmas," but I know how some people get so angry about it.

Me too, but growing up with people who celebrate every other holiday besides Christmas, I should have worded that better.
