Thanks!

The only downside is that I would rather reread the series than move on to new books. I'll definitely put it on my reread list.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan starts 11/4
Chapter Breakdown and Schedule

Date: 11/2
Rate: 3 Stars
Pages: 384
Letter options: R: author first name RIley, Characters: A-Allison, N-Natalie D-Emma Davis

I guess there's a smaaaaallll chance that I won't finish my R book?
I still think it's more important to make sure we don't leave any O or Y ("difficult letters") on the table, in our final incomplete spelling.
ETA: We need to add our 4 additional completed/claimed O's and Y's to get into a 3-way tie for 1st place in that category (and that's assuming the other teams don't add more D:), so another O and Y in an incomplete word could help give us an edge going into next week, when we have another, shorter word that has two O's in it.

I will add to spreadsheet!
And @Jan, this could possibly replace my R book if needed, so read/listen to whatever you want ;D

Okay, I changed it.
If Catwoman has any BLOOD letters, and you will finish between tomorrow night and the following Saturday, let us know and we can stick it on Week Two :D

Ok, since Brittany read a R book to replace Alysa's I will finish my current D and C books and read a N book which will complete our 6th Candy Corn spelling! I think we've done pretty well this round.

I have a C book to finish, and I think that will probably be my last Candycorn one unless we need something at the last second

I think we're in a great spot for Difficult Letters, in any case. The two teams that are currently leading us don't have Week Two Words with many difficult letters (one will have Cauldron, the other will have Cobweb) so they won't be able to easily maintain their leads there :D

I can save both of them unless you need the C, I also just started Water for Elephants today

If you've already started Catwoman, it looks like from the GR description it can be used for L and B (Character named Luke and "nickname" Batwing).
Let me know and I will add it to the SS for Week Two!
I don't know about Water for Elephants though. Maybe you can do a quick scan for BLOD character names? Or, you could plan to finish it during Week Three (hopefully it will fit whatever word we get then...)

Hey Brittany! I checked the spreadsheet and we could definitely use one of those C books to either finish the 5th spelling or to add to the 6th spelling :)

Apart from Something in the Water for the current Round, I thought Brittany meant other C books if we need them for next week (which we don't, unless something else fits besides title)...?

Could work for: B: last name Benzeni

Yes. You have all November to finish for points.

Could work for: B: last name Benzeni"
I saw that “Benzini Brothers” circus name, but couldn’t tell if there is actually a Benzini character in the book, as opposed to just a mere mention. It has to be the former to count. Do you have a full character?
Brittany wrote: "Catwoman has not bee started yet. It's a physical book and with all of the fall festivals and Halloween festivities I've only made it through books at work and in the car haha."
Okay, we won’t put it on the Spreadsheet until/unless you tell us otherwise 🙂

I could finish it, but since it will get 20 points either way (it can also be used for B in BLOOD) and the word completion bonus no longer applies for Week One, I think it makes more tactical sense to put it off and finish it in Week Two.
This way I can A) get a headstart on another Week Two book
ETA: I won’t finish anything else before Round One ends. I hate the idea of potentially leaving an O or Y on the table, but it is what it is 😕

Pretty much anyone with speaking roles. It just can’t be someone who is mentioned but not seen, or doesn’t have a name or, whatever.

Thanks for explaining! :)

Per the mods:
◈ Q: What is the rule around what makes a character valid to use?
A: Characters need to have some kind of dialogue and meaning to the story.
So, for example, someone having a cat called 'Meow' that is referred to ; or a character talking about "oh I had an ex-boyfriend called Eric" that we never meet, couldn't be used as characters.

A bit slow to start, but the plot started coming together about halfway through. I'll definitely read some more books in the series.

Yes there is a Benzini Character that the circus was purchased from and is referenced different times

The version of Dracula on your shelf is an audiobook. The top entry for the book is 488 pages, and on the spreadsheet you listed 520 pages. I just wanted to double check that the version on your shelf is the one you read before I change the total page count. Thanks.

Megan - Nowhere But Here, A Husband for Mari
Brittany - Something in the Water
Jan - Crown of Midnight
Deanna - Into the Black
Ashley - Royal Heir
Is everyone planning to finish these before the deadline, or do I need to move any to week 2?

Okay, maybe save it for Week Three if possible? I am taking it off the spreadsheet. It can always be put back on if you discover another character that works.

I should be able to finish mine. I'm at about 40% and can listen to audio in the morning running errands, then switch to Kindle to finish.
