*is nervous* 😕

That's true, it did seem like we were flying through Candycorn!

No apologies needed! You are chatting here a lot, at least, so we know what’s going on.
I think most of us (at least us Americans and American-adjacent people 🙂) have Thanksgiving plans next week. I might actually be able to read more though, or at least not less!

Danielle- do you have the word in text from your Better not Pout book, I tried to pull it up on Amazon but its not letting me look inside the print edition for some reason (it could just be my work computer being ridiculous)

DId you try books,google.com

That’s true for a lot of us.
But at least for me when I am off work almost the whole of next week that means I can read more print & kindle stuff to compensate. We’ll be visiting my mother, so my daughter can hang out with her while I hide in bed with books!

ETA: Nevermind, I guess we'll have a D as soon as someone finishes Dark Descent ;D
Re Thanksgiving, after many years of superduper large family gathering's this will be the 2nd time in a row that it's just a small 'do with a handful of people. Both ways have their pros and cons, I guess!

Yes - I'm at work but when I get home I'll post the sentence and location in the book.
I've finished 2 more books but I've been crazy busy so haven't had a chance to post and update but I will tomorrow because I'm working from home.

Oh wow, good luck w/ your power coming back on soon! That is no fun 🙁

The teams with lots of non-US people sure will have a edge next week!

Week 3 ends tomorrow at 5pm EST. Please double check your books and let us know if any will not be completed for this week's deadline or if you will be finishing up close to the deadline.
Countdown to end of Week 3

I am nearly done with An Unkindness of Ghosts. That will be my last book for this week. I could theoretically finish Dark Descent, but will focus instead on my 800+ page R book instead so that I can use it next week.
I’m also not sure if Dark Descent can be used for this week even if I did finish it by the deadline, depending on how many times we spell out “Thursday” with our existing claims.

There are plenty of swaps I can make to open up a D or two for anyone wishing to finish Dark Descent this week. If you finish it, I'll make sure it is used.

I was disappointed in the plot (well, the general lack thereof) but I thought the character work was outstanding.
I was switching back & forth between ebook and audio. The narrator was fine, but I didn't think audio was the best medium for this book.

For word-as-genre, we can also use RED instead of CRANBERRY.
Which is awesome. Because I don't know about the rest of you, but for me it's impossible to find Cranberry as genre.

True, the plot was, well, yeah.... I tried to explain it to my boyfriend and floundered a lot, until I just told him it was good & he should check it out! but it was a good example of talking about difficult subjects by taking them out of context - family often wonder why I like SFF books, and this one is why - slavery and racism out of context is hard to justify but is also less judgemental, somehow.
I'm not sure I'm explaining myself well...!

And that ending was... interesting. Like, more symbolic than making any actual sense. Sometimes this book wasn't sure whether it wanted to be literal or symbolic, and ended up an odd mix.

I haven't found a RED-as-genre book yet either, but I did find a GR user who has tagged hundreds of books as Red so maybe someone else can have a look and see if anything interests them and has Red as MPG.

Is everything alright?

And one letter on third spelling to get all the bonus books in there.

Do my eyes deceive me or are we both reading early Terry Pratchett for next week? :D

There's only 24 hours left to go on Week Three!
