Not quite enough. It's 40,000 for this challenge.

Brittany McCann (brittanylmccann) | 1266 comments Ok thanks that's what I thought but I was having a hard time finding it in the rules haha

Also recommend this adorable book I am reading right now

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Goodwill will get us a ton of Difficult Letters!

BUT: Although Barrel didn't get any good Difficult Letters words, Sally -- currently in the top spot already -- got COOKIES. If they choose that, and I don't see why they wouldn't, they are on track to win that category.
That being said, they seem to be adding to their spreadsheet as they go, as opposed to waiting and adding in a big chunk? So we might still sneak up on them? Maybe?

message 1007: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (itsmedaisy) | 279 comments I'm in for Goodwill if you guys are!

Maybe we can catch up to them if we switch to the everyone read short books plan. We can do it!

message 1008: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Yeah, neither of the other words give us a fighting chance, and there is zero way we can win the Traditional category. I mean, we are in like 3rd or 4th but the top two teams are just crazy higher than everybody else!

The BOM fits all the words, so no trouble there. We might still win that in any case :)

message 1009: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Also, if we are no longer going for points, we can simply skip filling word-as-genre, etc.

message 1010: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (itsmedaisy) | 279 comments Oh good point! Goodwill would probably not be easy for any of those

I'm fine with any of the words as well. Spying on Sally, they will be going with COOKIES and know that we are the only team with a chance to pass then. It will definitely be a race.

Since we are going for Difficult Letters, not points, I don’t think it’s of particular interest to us...

Yeah.... like I mentioned...
Unless I am missing something, it’s not worth it since we are not going for points, just letters. The time it would take to find stuff will also cut into our remaining reading time!

It shows "I: 2" but "Totals: 0"

It only takes a minute to check a book that someone decides to read against the list. One of my "o" audiobooks will work for #4.
Anyone that wants to use the list to help pick books for next week is more than welcome to do so. Please remember, as much as we may want to win, it's still important to have fun as well.

Yes, I finally got home long enough to get us signed up. I'll work on our planning spreadsheet in the morning since I have to go out again in about an hour to pick up my son.

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) So I read a book that's really new just published on the 26th and I can't find a page number count on either GRs or Amazon. So how can I figure out the pages so I can submit for this challenge? The book is Vampire with Benefits

Goodreads has a paperback version listed with 266 pages, so you can just use that page count.

message 1043: by Deanna (new)

Deanna | 3529 comments Danielle Gypsy Soul wrote: "How do you find goodwill on the cover? Do we even need to do that if we aren't going for points?"

Goodwill by definition is friendly, helpful, or cooperative feelings or attitude. A cover showing someone helping someone else would work. We don't have to fill the bonus. There are certainly plenty of other opportunities for points with the Help Save Christmas mini challenge.

message 1044: by Danielle Gypsy Soul (last edited Nov 29, 2018 08:35PM) (new)

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) Perfect - thanks! That must have been added recently because I checked earlier today :) I am going through and picking a bunch of "I" and "O" books that aren't too long so I can get a lot done.
