the 6th?! I could've sworn Amazon told me the 15th, last time I looked.

I can't wait for this one to come around either!

I am super excited about Lies Sleeping (Peter Grant, #7) by Ben Aaronovitch too!!
That is pretty much the only book series that I ever pre-order. And also the related graphic novels whenever the collected editions come out. Do you read those too?

I'm ready for The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air, #2) by Holly Black in January also

Oooh I didn't know that was coming out in January! Excellent.

I am so behind in the Throne of Glass series. I've had the second book out from the library for weeks and haven't touched it. I'm going to make sure I read it next.

I've read one of the graphic novels, I think. I like the regular series better. The graphic novel images didn't match the ones in my head.

Throne of Glass is on my list of series to try, but I feel like I need to finish some of my other YA series first. I also have The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1) by Holly Black on my tbr shelf.

I read The Iron Trial (Magisterium, #1) by Holly Black during tower teams for since I needed a book with Iron in the title, but that's the only one so far. In addition to The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1) by Holly Black , I think her Modern Faerie Tales series starting with Tithe (Modern Faerie Tales, #1) by Holly Black looks intriguing.

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I've read The Iron Trial (Magisterium, #1) by Holly Black and The Copper Gauntlet (Magisterium, #2) by Holly Black , and plan to conitue that series. It's a lot of fun.

I've also read Doll Bones by Holly Black , which was really interesting and unsettling.

Also Tithe (Modern Faerie Tales, #1) by Holly Black , White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black , and The Poison Eaters and Other Stories by Holly Black .

I went to a book Q&A panel once where Holly Black was one of the guests. She seemed super nice :)

I felt the exact same way! ACOTAR was everything to me but I didn't like the first ToG at all and put off the rest of the series for awhile, then I got to book 3 and it got good and I read them all super close together. Its worth it!

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments Hello Everyone!

I'm so excited for this to start! I know a couple of you from other challenges. This is my third challenge I'm really getting addicted to them. I did the Harry Potter Tower Team this summer and I felt lost after it ended. It was so much fun!

I am a workaholic. I generally work about 14 hrs a day Saturday-Wednesday BUT I also somehow manage to read at least 2-4 books a week. I have one indoor fur baby Ciara the cat. She definitely rules the household. Ciara has 3 outdoor friends (cats), that she has me feed-Gwendolyn, Charlotte and Charlie. All three are boys but I only just found this out because even though they are not feral you cannot get very close to them. I can't change their names at this point because they actually respond when I call them hahaha!

I will read most anything but I prefer not to read most sci-fi, dystopian and post-apocalyptic. I just got a 90 day trial for Kindle Unlimited and I'm loving it. They have some really crazy books on there. Some good, some bad and some just flat-out horrendous but it's all good fun.

I look forward to the good times with all of you. I think this is going to be a really fun challenge.

I'll be on a cruise from 1 Nov-5-Nov but I will plan appropriately to be able to complete my books for that week.

Neat article! Candy corn does not last long in my house either, especially the little pumpkins in the mixed bags. Sadly, I really can't blame my kids.

This part caught my attention:

"There's a proper way to eat it.

OK, not really. But many people believe that candy corn, like Oreos, should be nibbled in a certain manner.

While almost half of candy corn consumers gobble the whole piece at once, 43% start with the narrow white end, according to a survey by the National Confectioners Association.

Another 10% -- the true renegades -- begin eating the wider yellow end first."

I fit in the 43% that starts at the white end for the corn, and the gobble it whole if it's a pumpkin.

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Deanna wrote: "I fit in the 43% that starts at the white end for the corn, and the gobble it whole if it's a pumpkin"

I am in that 43% too.
But I don’t like the pumpkin ones for some reason. I think maybe they taste more like chemical food coloring than the corn ones or something? Maybe I am sensitive to the green coloring in the ‘stem’ part.

message 185: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (itsmedaisy) | 279 comments I think that I eat the whole thing at once, I need to pay attention next time I eat one. Who knew there was multiple ways to eat candy corn

Deanna | 3529 comments Question of the day
(Because I need to stop thinking about candy corn...)

Do you have a favorite book or author that you like to read around Halloween?

I think my favorite Halloween theme book is The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls, #1) by Kristen Painter . I just love the concept of the paranormals hiding in plain sight because the town of Nocturne Falls celebrates Halloween year round as a tourist draw. It's on my pile to read this week for the second time. I wish the series was on KU.

I cannot wait to go! There are a total of 23 of us going. I went last year and there were 19 of us. It was so much fun! I sometimes eat it starting at the white end and sometimes at the yellow end all depends on my mood. I don't like the pumpkin ones though they are weird. I am also very specific on the brands I'll eat. No cheapy candy corn for me!

So many to choose from! I think my favorites change all the time since I'm a pretty eclectic reader. I've been reading some true crime lately that I found on KU. Pretty gruesome stuff. I recommend both books.

Little Slaughterhouse on the Prairie

Low on the gore scale but pretty cool that the Ingalls family possibly but more than likely not lived close to serial killers.

Hell's Princess: The Mystery of Belle Gunness, Butcher of Men

Little more detailed as far as how the murders were committed. This book is probably 30% on her and the rest is on the trial and different theories of her whereabouts.

Now I'm reading a vampire book. Like I said I'm all over the place.
