Completed books need to be marked as read with a start date and a read date (because books have to be used the week they are finished) and placed on the wheel shelf. It is the job of the team captain and co-captain to double check that this has been done and to verify that the book meets the challenge requirements. It is not automatically verified by the official spreadsheet. At the end of the week, the captains post a check in stating that the spreadsheet is up to date and verified, and the mods will run their own checks before finalizing the points.

The mods are aware of the potential issue of the improbably high page count, and I'm sure will discuss the issue on their mod board. I trust they will do their best to make sure the challenge is fair and above board, so we can focus on reading books and having a fun challenge.

Interesting! So clearly their captain & co-captain haven't checked before submitting. I hope someone, if not the Mods, got a screencap of this person's Wheel shelf sans dates, in case they try to cover it up after the fact.

"so we can focus on reading books and having a fun challenge"

Indeed! :D I will try to shut up about this now.

Hope everyone is enjoying their books.

I have had only good books so far! I'm sure before the end of Wheel I will 'take one for the team' with a bad book or two, but since so far I've been reading series that I already like, just by coincidence, I am very happy atm. :D

JanEyre9 Just finished The Other Alcott. I'm going to start Dracula now but if I find it too dry for the moment I might switch to a lighter "D" book and then use Dracula for a "Blood" book :)

Finished Running Blind (Jack Reacher, #4) by Lee Child . Details on spreadsheet.

Hmm. This is as far as I planned for this week. Off to find a new book.

message 421: by Alysa (last edited Oct 31, 2018 06:53PM) (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I'm going to be finished with both of my current 2 books (Age of War and Graevale) by midday tomorrow.

The only other book I have planned after that for this week is Rebel of the Sands Raw Spirit but if there's another letter besides R that would be better please let me know ASAP and I will swap something else in!

Other than that, I will probably get a start on longer books for next week. I may not able to read as much as usual between Fri afternoon and most of next week, due to Real Life Stuff, and I have a bunch of claims so a head start seems like a good idea :)

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) COMPLETION POST

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) Starting my next book and that's as far as I have planned ahead for this week. Hope we get the word soon so I can start to plan next week's reading :) I can look at what we still need and see what to read next since I've still got time before Saturday and I'll finish my last "planned" book by Thursday night.

Minimum length is 160 pages so unfortunately that book is not eligible...

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) Found another one that is long enough so I can read that one just in case. If we don't end up needing it for that - that's fine. It's a cute Halloween book I wanted to read anyway.

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I hope whatever our final incomplete word is, it includes O and Y. It would be a shame to leave “hardest letters” on the table!
If that happens, perhaps I can try to squeeze in a short book, but it is unlikely. I am scheduled to get an EMG tomorrow, and Saturday I am volunteering at my daughter’s school fair.
