Have you checked out the planning spreadsheet yet? It’s up in msg 4 or 5 :-)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Questions... if a character or author has two last names (for example Mary Todd Lincoln) can we use either last names for a Spell-Out (M, T, or L vs M or L in this example). Also... are editors names allowed to be used for spell outs (I have a few books that are collections of someones historical papers/journals, so the historical figure is the author, but there is also an editor who compiled the collection).

I'm working on a tab in the planning file with my unread print books. I'm a little OCD... I admit it! But... I'm game to get just about anything digitally from my library as we need it too.

Yes on this one - only if you actually do the audio version though

Sarah | 3273 comments I can do The Orphan's Tale by Pam Jenoff for an O from title for my first book.

message 57: by Em (new)

Em (emmolga) hello Igor team! sorry for checking in so late!

i'm Em and this is my first wheel-a-thon ever! i'm so excited to begin with you all :)

i read everything--well, everything i can get my hands on, really. i don't really read YA or NA, but i can if needed for the challenge. i'm swamped with work for the whole of this month, though everything will settle by the time this challenge begin so i'll be able to check in more often.

Karolyn--i envy you so much! War and Peace is one of the books that has been collecting dust on my shelf ever since forever, i think i may never have the courage to take it up! 😂

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Hi everyone! I’m here :D
I’m Beth, 25, and work as a care manager and activities manager at an assisted living facility. It definitely keeps me busy but it’s very rewarding. I read mostly everything except fantasy. I’ve tried and tried but I just don’t think it’s for me. I’m excited for this to start!

Accept my access and I will LOL

I have been touch and go this week because I have had internet problems. And then my mouse died. I hate using the touchpad mouse. New mouse came this morning!

Wishbear | 393 comments Hi Everyone. Sorry for the delay in posting.

I'm Mollie, I live in Saskatchewan Canada. I work full time as an admin assistant in an accounting firm. I have 1 son, 2 Stepsons and my husband and I just celebrated our third wedding anniversary on Thursday.

I'll read anything for a challenge as my 1 and 2 star reviews will attest too. I really hate straight romance but I'll read it if it's all I can find for a challenge.

I'm most looking forward to reading Les Misérables which is my goal to read and finish in December. I'm also really looking forward to Lethal White and hope that it will be under the Christmas tree and the first book I finish in 2019 (or even better, the last book I finish in 2018)

I'm looking forward to the wheel starting although I don't know what I'm going to read. I'm currently playing Survival of the Fittest at A Million More Pages and that has been stealing my focus. Fortunately, it finishes the day before we start.

Karolyn | 1041 comments Another question for our lovely captains...

I'm planning to get a copy of The Werewolf of Paris for week 1. This book would work for any of the four bonus categories (word in text, word in title, word on cover, or word as genre). How do you want us to note that on the planning file?

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Karolyn wrote: "Another question for our lovely captains...

There is a box for the bonus categories at the top of the week 1 page so I am thinking it best to pop it in the category that fits that score the most points so in this case pop it in the genre space for the 50 points.

Hoping that makes sense

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments welcome Mollie Beth and Em :-)

I will suggest you don't use it for the first read through. Because I don't think we get any bonuses for the first read through.

Nikk, can you confirm or correct that for me please?

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I think we can use it in any run through for the same points but I will double check for you

I absolutely love the Jean Val Jean novella so I'm hoping that I'll enjoy Les Mis. It's been on my shelf for years but this is going to be the year that I actually read it.

That will be important to know, thanks for checking! Right now I'm planning to read it second because I have a book I'll need to get done first for another challenge.

Ok so I have read through the rules and the Q & As and I cannot see anywhere that we don't get bonuses for the first read through. So it is fine to use a book in the first read through as well a category slot (if it fits) and this will not be any less points than using it in a subsequent run through.

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments ◈ Once teams have read their word for the week they can "re-read" the word to gain more points (according to the point system below).

^^
That is what is throwing me off. Because according to that, it sounds like you have to read through once before you can read for bonus points.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments GreenFairy wrote: "◈ Once teams have read their word for the week they can "re-read" the word to gain more points (according to the point system below).

ah..

actually what that line means is you can gain more points my readng through the word multiple times. The points system listed below was the page numbers and equivalent points.

The Bonus points is a separate section :-)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Speaking of bonus points, has any one found anything that will work for the other bonus points other than Karolyn. We need a werewolf on the cover, werewolf in the title and werewolf in the text.

There is a heap on KU on Amazon. Now to just find some that don't look completely terrible to read :-P

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Also did someone just request access to the spreadsheet about an hour ago. I got a request but didn't recognise the name so just want to make sure its one of us before allowing access :-)

but Nikk, surely the whole point of an NBRC team challenge is to read at least one terrible book?! And then make as many others share your pain...

Or have I got the point of this game entirely wrong?! ;-P

message 79: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments I have one (I put it on the spreadsheet) that works for either genre, or word on cover. And it will probably work for word in text too.

LOL Cat, this is true and I if I only read one terrible book then i will consider it quiet readathon LOL.

message 81: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments I am going to be reworking what I'm reading for Week 1.

I can do a couple quick reads to fill up the first read through if need be as well. As a couple teammates haven't checked into the spreadsheet yet, I don't want to claim any additional letters yet.

message 82: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments Can a book earn more than one bonus? Or can you only claim one bonus per book?

message 83: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I’ll look through to see what I have. I usually don’t read books about werewolves but if I can find one on KU that doesn’t look too bad (or maybe it should be bad lol) I’ll pick it up!

message 84: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments One book per bonus.

Each bonus can be claimed only once.

IAD is my favorite series as a whole. Lothaire is my bae. I haven't read a lot of DH but I did enjoy what I have read.
