Sarah | 3273 comments For the first week I will plan to read my daughter The War that Saved My Life (The War That Saved My Life, #1) by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley . The word count is like 62,000, so that should count for about a 240 page book and 10 points if they are saying the equivalent of 160 page book is 40,000 words, right?

And there is another W

Do you have access to the planning spreadsheet? If so, you can add it yourself. If you don't, let me know and I'll add it there.

Ashley | 1439 comments Oooh that's a stylish banner for my welcome. I like!

So I live in Australia and at the moment I read...nothing. I think I've finished one book in the last two months! I need to change that so a challenge is perfect :D

Like everyone else I'm looking forward toLethal White. Also I need to buy Rich People Problems so I can finish the series!

Welcome Ashley,
I am in a reading slump too, but that is mostly because I am waiting fot the challenge. Mostly just been reading to my daughter books that are too short for challenge anyway.

I might sure we'll get chatty! I can't wait to officially get started. I'm trying really hard to finish War and Peace, so have been quiet. But I think today is the day this chunkster is conquered!!! 9 chapters to go....

message 109: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I'm sure it'll get chattier when the challenge actually starts. A lot of us are doing other challenges right now so that's where we are hiding lol

message 116: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Yes! War and Peace is on my bookshelf...but it looks so daunting. Is it good?!

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments only a few days left before we start.

Apologies I have been a little scarce the last few days. Its been crazy in Rl since Friday for me between house inspections and production rehearsal for my daughter's choir concert and a biopsy this morning for a skin cancer just above my eye. In fact i was so busy/exhausted from being so busy that during the Deweys 24 hours readathon on the weekend that i had signed up for, I didn't even managed to read 1 page :-(

Speaking of big books, I bought Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass, #7) by Sarah J. Maas this morning. It's 900 + pages though I am not sure i am going to be able to hold off until wheelathon starts to read it. I am already starting to crack but I have three other challenge books I need to read this week so I am trying to be good and read those this week instead. Let's see if I can hold out

message 118: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments My whole news feed is full of people reading that Nikk! I still haven’t read the rest of the series :(

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I read book 1 when it first came out. Enjoyed it but wasn't all that fussed with the series then I rceeived book 5 as an arc so read/listened to the series from the prequel through and the further I got into the series, the more I loved it. I know once I do start it, I am not going to read anything else till its done so i really want to wait till i have time to sit down and really devour it

message 120: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I haven't even started the series

Sarah | 3273 comments I think I can start around 2 pm

message 125: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Once again, I don't know how to enter into spread sheet, but the first book I will get to is The Orphan's Tale for an O.

I added it for you

message 127: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments I decided to get one last book done for another challenge before we start tomorrow. Wouldn't you know it... I randomly find a reference to Werewolfs!!! Oh well.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments @sarah the link to the planning spreadsheet is in msg 4 on the first page of this thread and you have been given editing permissions. You shouldn’t have any issues now

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Just over 17 hours to start time - for some reason I thought it was less than that

What is the first book everyone will be reading?

I will be starting Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass, #7) by Sarah J. Maas and then The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls, #1) by Kristen Painter shortly after as I have a feeling i will be working on Kingdom though out the week

I have made a books read thread which can be found here:

You can also find it in message 4 of this thread with all other important links like planning spreadsheet etc

If you are updating on the spreadsheet, you don't have to update the books read thread as well (though you can), just make sure you are updating one or the other through out the challenge and are also placing all read books on your wheelathon shelf :-)

message 132: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I only have my kindle and I can't seem to be able to access spreadsheets to edit. I am a computer illiterate. So not sure if I need to back out of team? I do know how to post my books when they are read on goodreads.

message 133: by Sarah (last edited Oct 27, 2018 12:24AM) (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I was gonna start reading my daughter The War that Saved My Life (The War That Saved My Life, #1) by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley . Starting The Orphan's Tale by Pam Jenoff on audio and The Idiot by Elif Batuman on kindle ebook first off. I also have Lethal White I need to get to this week because it is due back soon.

No need to back out of the team. It's not essential to use the planning spreadsheet at all. Some find it easier, others don't and that's fine. As long as you are reading books and shelving on your wheelathon shelf when done, you can post in the books read thread HERE with the letter it works for and I can find it a place on our main spreadsheet for points.

We definitely would love you to stay and play

message 135: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Yes, I want to play. I feel stupid sometimes with electronics... and I am in the profession of saving lives. Haha do u trust me now with your life (I am an ER nurse and single mother of a beautiful 8 year old daughter), but I can and love to read books as much as possible when life permits.

I also love to travel with my baby girl as much as possible. We will be in Florida for three weeks over Christmas holiday. But I am mostly excited to spend 10 days driving around Ireland in March - Sarah and Lola's Next Big Adventure.

Just to clarify... we are to update the planning spreadsheet, not the team spreadsheet?

message 138: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I have a timer set! I'm hoping to get 2 or 3 shorter books done before I go to bed tonight

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I am making use of my (considerable) procrastination skills and holding off starting the cooking and cleaning i need to get done this morning till this challenge starts so I can listen to my first book as I work :-P

I only got out of bed about 20 minutes ago so am using this last 10 minutes to try an update all GR threads and do any non reading tasks LOL

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments T minus 3 minutes and counting...

I don't know how you do it. My preferred listening speed is 1.25 and i can do 1.5 in a pinch if I need to but any faster and my narrator generally sounds like a chipmunk and my brain can't quite process it LOL :-P

message 147: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments Depending on how fast the narrator normally I average around 1.75 - 2. As long as there is no distractions I can follow along fine.

message 148: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I've even been able to listen at 3x if the narrator is a slow reader. But I really have to pay attention

message 149: by Chris (new)

Chris (cdavies1951) | 2192 comments I'm usually at 1.25 - 1.5. My ears get tired when I listen any faster :-)

message 150: by Em (new)

Em (emmolga) i'm starting The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton ! aiming to finish this sometime in the next 24 hrs
