Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I would have had at least one book done for week 2 already but I just spent 4 hours in the ER with my daughter getting stitches in her leg :/

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Oh no Krissy! I hope she is okay 🤞

I pretty much went out as soon as check in hit this morning. Took my daughter out to build a bear workshop this morning. Only just got home. About to start on my first book for the week and relax for a little bit as need to take my daughter to swimming lessons in an hour and I still need to do my cooking prep the week. It’s a relatively short book though so hoping to be gone tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments Yea she's okay. Tripped in the front yard and got a nasty gouge in her leg trying to sneak up on her brother to scare him.

Sounds like you've had a busy day!

I'm glad she's OK!

Sarah | 3273 comments Krissy - glad your daughter is o.k.. Haha, I just spent 17 hours in the ER yesterday... working. My second 16 hour shift this week. But I have had a lazy day today and got some reading in.

message 259: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Oh yes we need lots of O's. I just posted one, and I will try to get to another by the end of the week. But I think my next one so far is working for a B.

message 260: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments I'm trying to focus on O's. I'm reading another one now and have two on hold from the library I'm waiting for (fingers crossed I'll get them soon). Might even dust off some George Orwell if I have time.

Sarah | 3273 comments I have started the BOM - Crazy Rich Asians. I had to buy the ebook because I didn't get it in time from library. I had it from the library before the challenge started but it got returned and didn't read it because I was saving it for this challenge. I wanted to read it before the movie, but ended up seeing the movie already. Easy read. And there is an O character, and an L. I have started the discussion and answered first set of questions. If I have participated in the questions up until the end of week and finish the book, CAN IT BE COUNTED FOR THIS WEEK? The discussion doesn't finish unti the 10th.

Yes it can. Provided you had answered at least some days questions, we would claim the book in the week you finished it 😀

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I am thinking it might be a good week to re-read the lux series by Jennifer Armentrout as all 5 main books begin with O. It’s just a shame there doesn’t seem to be an audio version available on audible or through my library.

message 264: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments That sucks :/ The Lux series is available on our audible. Plus it's available with the romance package so it'd be free.

I just might as I totally randomly and separately borrowed this book from the library this morning :-)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments Nikk and Team,

I put the book I read and posted on the official sheet, it fits for the bonus of on cover as well as in text. For now, I put it under on cover. If it needs to be moved, move it and let me know and I'll get you the information for it. Blood is mentioned A LOT in this book.

Also, if you like dark and erotic reads...I highly recommend this. And if you read it, tell Sadie and Monica that I recommended it to you. Those ladies are awesome!

message 270: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments The books I'm listening to now has blood in the text

message 271: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments I updated the spreadsheets this morning. For the next two spell-outs we just need O's. As it's still early in the week, read what fits with any of the letters.

On the planning spreadsheet, please make sure that the book you originally placed on it wasn't just moved. As the official spreadsheet gets updated, I move things around on the planning spreadsheet so they match.

message 272: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I planned on focusing on the Os. Leaving the easier letters for everybody else

message 273: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I just started a series I’m super into where every book starts with O so I want to get some of those done as well. If we don’t need any more, I can go to other letters though

message 274: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Author’s first name is also Blake so it will work for B and O

message 275: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments The more options we have, the better it is. Most of my stuff that I can get to quick, without even considering characters or series name, is B, L, or D.

message 276: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments So what's going on with Ashley?

message 277: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Next time I get the bright idea to read George Orwell... please stop me! I'm reading one of his less famous books, and starting to question my sanity.

message 278: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Krissy wrote: "So what's going on with Ashley?"

Looks like she hasn't logged on since October. Not sure what's going on.

message 279: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I was wondering about Ashley too. Did she even get a book in our first week? Isn't that the bare minimum to play?

message 280: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Yeah I finished my book! It’s in the spreadsheet/thread with the others

message 281: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Hello Ashley. Haha, she is alive. Very quiet group we have, hopefully it means everybody is just reading a lot.

On a good note - herstory has been made in America - over 100 woman elected to the house. Wow. Historical.

I got three hours of sleep last night because I was watching the coverage haha. Totally worth it though!

message 284: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Beth, I worked another 16hour shift yesterday and when I got home I was just bombarded with all the wonderful news I had missed all day. I was beaming.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments

So after 2 relatively easy words for weeks 1 and 2, our week 3 word will be a wee bit more of a challenge. It is ...

CORNBREAD

Now before we all panic too much, in terms of reading for genre we can also use the word 'side' but we will still need to find it on a cover, in a title and in the text of a book.

On the plus side, it does give lots of letters to play with next week so I am sure we can make it work for us.

I will have the new tab on the planning spreadsheet tomorrow

message 286: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments Even 'side' sucks. I'm going through everything shelved side and I'm not impressed.

message 287: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Good think I still have a lot of O and B books to read. This word isn’t as fun. I do have quite a few C books to choose from as well.

message 288: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Krissy wrote: "Even 'side' sucks. I'm going through everything shelved side and I'm not impressed."

Can you link to the shelves? I’ll look through and see if anything stands out

message 289: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 141 comments In terms of bonus...that's going to be a tough word to do. It does help that we get it a few days early so we can start looking. As long as I can stay upright, I'll try to do some searching.

Whatever bug I caught, it's kicking my ass. I'm on day 10 now. Whatever this is, it must not be contagious because no one in my house has it.

I have one book to log and I'm almost done with another at least.

Since there are so few shelves for side there is no point in looking at any books with more than 1000 ratings. Chances are 'side' won't be on the first page of shelves.

message 292: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I could possibly read this one for the genre but ONLY if nobody finds something else they want to read. I have no interest in reading it so I'd hate to spend $ on the audiobook but I'm willing to take one for the team...

Don't Let Him Know by Sandip Roy

message 293: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments There's this one too. It's shorter but not available on audio...

The Return of Simple by Langston Hughes

There are a few books on this list that I'd like to read so I can be responsible for "side" next week.

message 296: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments Mollie, not every book qualifies though. Make sure 'side' is on the first page of shelves

message 297: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Hey everyone! I just wanted to give an update to you all. It's good news/bad news. I've been between jobs and have been tutoring part time, so lots of time to read. Well, long story short... the company I tutor for gave me an opportunity to get A LOT more hours (at least for the short term). Which is awesome for me!!!

But... it's seriously cutting into my reading time. So, the bad news is I'm not going to get as many book done this week and probably the next few weeks as I'd hoped. I'll still read as much as I can, don't worry about that!

Wishbear | 393 comments Krissy wrote: "Mollie, not every book qualifies though. Make sure 'side' is on the first page of shelves"

Yes, I'm finding that. But that's okay. I'll still make sure I read one of the books.
