Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments On the spreadsheet The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness is marked down for "seed" genre bonus but I don't see seed on the first page of genres. Am I just overlooking it?

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments thanks for the heads up Krissy. That's correct. The word seed needs to be on the first page of the books tags.

message 356: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Oh okay thank you. I should have double checked on the book page. I only looked at the seed tag itself. I’ll take it off

message 357: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments The planning sheet still has the letters for cornbread instead of acorn on the right side of the spreadsheet

message 358: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments These words with only a few people tagging with are a pain to find a book :/

Sarah | 3273 comments ALERT - my final books are posted in books read thread- Where the Crawdads Sing will work for an O and the bonus. And both books for other multiple letters as well. But another O would be most points. Also if we need R to finish last word to start another my book Hoot has Roy as main character. Hope they all get entered in time. I came home last night exhausted and fell right asleep.

Sarah | 3273 comments SMH - Where the Crawdads Sing would have been better utilized for an O than a C. Like I said in my last post. We lost points on that one.

Karolyn | 1041 comments I found this for acorn on the cover. I wanted to confirm that it's OK for the acorn to be a drawing.
The Golden Acorn by Catherine Cooper

I would think most defenitely. There is clearly an acorn on the cover, and in the title - could two people read it and it be used one for each category?

Definitely can be used for either acorn in title or acorn on cover and yes if two different people read it, we can use it for both :-)

Sarah | 3273 comments Do we have to verify word count, because I can't find the word count for that book?

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Sarah wrote: "Do we have to verify word count, because I can't find the word count for that book?"

No I can't either if we can find a audio version on audible or siilar showing it is more than 4 hours that will count also. It's not coming on on the australian audible site and any attempt to try to check out the us site redirects me back to the Australian site.

Can you double check if its on the us audible site and how long it is otherwise i will have to double check with the mods about it.

Given its 372 pages, i would think the word count should be fine but we need to be able to verify :-/

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Sarah wrote: "Do we have to verify word count, because I can't find the word count for that book?"

I have asked the question in the mods Q & A since we can't find it on either Arbook or on audio

Sorry I got sucked into the rabbithole that is Riverdale on netflix last nightand was binge watching season 2 until 4 am. Got up at 8.30 to finalise books before 9am deadline only to have a power outage so i was madly trying to update via ipad so my main goal was to get it on the official spreadsheet in time. The toughest letter points for being an O never occurred to me.

Apologies guys. I checked with the mods and as nothing can be found to verify word count and there is an illustrator listed, we are unable to use it :-(

sorry :-(

Sarah | 3273 comments I give up on the acorn thing since the Mods have chosen to make it impossible. Glad I didn't buy the kindle book yet. Good luck finding something.

If anyone wants to read this, it might work for acorn on the cover.

I think it is poetry and also needs a word count, which I also couldn't find.

I didn't even think about verifying word count since it was over 300 pages. I looked a bit this morning and couldn't find anything either. On kindle the only illustrations were a small picture at the start of each chapter. Kindle does give an "Average Reading Time" of 4 hours, 7 minutes (it took me closer to 5 to read). Would that convince the Mods?

I get that the rules are what they are. I'll take it off the spreadsheet.

Sarah | 3273 comments Acorna: The Unicorn Girl - I don't have this book, but would it work for word in title if someone read it?

I am almost positive it has the word count needed, and then some, that is why this is sooooo lame.

message 379: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I don’t like this bonus this week 😭

message 380: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I think the MODS need to chime in here, again. I think they need to reconsider the reading time on kindle is at over four hours, the illustrator argument is just stupid, it is not a book full of pictures, it just has a design at the chapter headings. There isn't an audio book available.

message 381: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Yeah I, hoping they see the hour time because the word count is definitely high enough

message 382: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments ... well maybe we will get an answer at some point? This is frustrating not being able to find out. I had all day off to read to my daughter if they will count this book, there just isn't a lot to work with. But I did read my other book anyway. Don't know how to get this day back full of time to read for this particular category though, work and school starts back up tomorrow.

Hi guys. The mods have already made their decision and we need to abide by the current rules. So we will keep looking for other options.

Bittersweet (Acorn Hills, #1) by Grace Augustine for acorn in title/series name

Karolyn | 1041 comments Nikk and GreenFairy - First off, you are both doing an amazing job! Thanks for captaining.

I was looking at the "Official" Igor spreadsheets. Last week, it looks like our 15 points for the Spell Out Word. It looks like the formula didn't pull it in right. Just wanted to give a heads up, since I'm guessing that feeds the master file.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Thanks for the heads up Karolyn. I think I know what’s happened and will fix it soon 😀

Thanks Sarah. For some reason, I thought I had to do the questions the same week I read the book. I'll try to make some time this week to participate. I'm just swamped right now. I'm so thankful for audio books or I wouldn't be getting any reading done.

The Atomic Blood-Stained Bus by Michael J. Ritchie
The Atomic Blood-Stained Bus

It's short at only 170 pages. I'd be willing to gift the ebook to you. But since I'm in the US I can only gift within the US

Or the book Nikk mentioned above. I can gift that one as well
