Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments So it looks like Beth will take care of Acorn on cover! Thanks, Beth. Taking one for the team.

message 404: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments We need O's again. I finished one and put it in books read thread. Hopefully that will be put in for an O. Krissy had one too. My other books don't seem to have an O character. Poo poo.

Sarah | 3273 comments Krissy you are amazing - all the books you have read for the team, so many of the points... and yes, Beth you are a rock star for taking one for the team, but I also hope you enjoy the book. It sounded like it might be interesting?

I’ll let you know! So far I’m really enjoying Acts of Faith: The Story of an American Muslim, the Struggle for the Soul of a Generation as well. After this I may look more into books like this!

No problem! Sometimes we find amazing books that way 😁

Once I finish the two for bonuses, I have an O book I could get done in time. Possibly two but I work all weekend and tomorrow is a holiday

message 409: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments There are some other O's I noticed. Most my books, a wopping 3 or 4, usually have several letters.

Thanks! It's amazing how much reading you can do when you have no social life whatsoever 😂

In my older age I prefer to not be social and stay at home reading. But I do have to work, and I love to travel whenever I can. But vacations can be good for reading too.

I am going to Florida for the Christmas/New Years holidays for three weeks. My best friend lives in Orlando and my brother and his family are in Jacksonville - so a week at each house and a week at an Orlando resort. I want to just lay in the sun at the pool and read, but I will also be spending time running around the theme parks with my daughter, which is fun, but exhausting. And my brother's house is a zoo - he has four girls. My daughter and I are just the two of us and used to mellow and quiet. But I am so excited to see family and friends.

So we have our word for week 5 and it is :

DECORATIONS
We can also use festive for first page of tags

so hopefully t next week should be an easier week for finding books.

That being said, we are doing very well this week given our word and I am confident we can get even more points before the week is out. We have completed 4 complete run through and just need an N to finish a fifth.

The count down to the end of the week can be found Here

Let's keep on reading as we are :-)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments We were apparently hit with the O bug. I’m pretty sure all of our words have had at least 1! I should be finished with the acorn on the cover book today. Thank you again Krissy for buying it for me!

message 419: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Can anyone check this for festive? I’m on iPad so can’t just search for the word https://www.goodreads.com/work/shelve...

message 420: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Oh never mind just saw it’s not. Darn, that’s BOM so would have been easy haha

message 421: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I can read Winter Warmers. Festive is on first page and it’s onky 192 pages

message 422: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments I was gonna say the most festive tags is 10 and since that first book you posted ends the first page at 23 tags then there is no way it would be on the first page. You wouldn't even have to look

message 423: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Yeah I realized that about 20 seconds after asking haha

message 424: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Happy Thanksg to all our American teammates! My husband is the cook and he won't let anyone in the kitchen, so I should get some reading done today.

Questions on Decorations. In the title does it have to be exact? Or would "decorate" or "decorating" work? And as for on the cover... I'm guessing anything Christmas-y will work (lights, garland, a decorated tree, etc)?

message 425: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments Happy Thanksgiving! My husband is in Germany so it's just me and the kids. Having a lazy day cooking all their favorite side dishes since they don't like Turkey or ham. Listening to my audiobook:)

message 426: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Happy thanksgiving to you as well! My boyfriend, his mom, and I decided to make it low key. None of us like turkey or many of the normal sides so we are just doing ham, potato salad, and garlic bread haha. We are just watching football and hanging out so I’m getting some reading done as well

message 427: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Do you think one of these will work for Decorations on the cover? I can get either one.
Santa Cruise A Holiday Mystery at Sea by Mary Higgins Clark A Christmas Hope (Christmas Stories, #11) by Anne Perry

message 428: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I think the second one definitely should work

message 429: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I have a book I posted in books read thread that works for an N, but I can't enter on spreadshheet? Orhan's Inheritance

message 430: by Sarah (last edited Nov 23, 2018 10:52AM) (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I am also about to finish Something in the Water, I will also post in book read thread, and it will work for an R we need. Also another N from Counting by 7's which I will finish by tomorrow morning, but that should complete next two acorns.

Chris (cdavies1951) | 2192 comments I have a question about the number of pages on the book I just read (listened to). Because it was an Audible book, usually we take the first edition that is shown. In the case of The Collector the first one is a large print edition which is 700+ words. I don't know if that is a fair number.

The rules say that we go with the default edition so if that is the default edition then that’s the one we will go with. It would be nice to have the rules work in our advantage rather than our disadvantage like it did earlier in the week with the acorn book

The second one would work I should think. I also have a few already put on lan from the Library with decorations on the cover as I had borrowed them for another Christmas challenge. 😀

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Was any else reading for acorn in the title? Or do I still need to read the acorn hills book?

If you have one, go for it. I was pretty "meh" about that one, but would read it if we need it. Do we have an answer if the title needs to be "Decorations" exactly or will "decorate" or "decorating" work.

I'm trying to get one more done this week, but keep getting interrupted. Good news is it works for next week also.

Sweet! (This was for ACORN)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments It needs to be either decoration or the plural - no variations

message 438: by Sarah (last edited Nov 24, 2018 12:55AM) (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I know I already posted this but I have books posted in book read thread that can be used but need to be added to spread sheet. I think there are other books too. I don't know how that works, Nick enters it? I just don't want anything missed.

AND where is Green Fairy? I hope she is o.k.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Don't worry Sarah I am going through the books read thread now so I will make sure to use all our books read :-)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I managed to get my acorn in the title book read this afternoon. It wasn't great but at least it wasn't as bad as the cornbread book the week before LOL. Gonna try and get all books from books read thread and spreadsheet entered quickly and try and squeeze one more book in but given its already nearly 9 pm here I am not sure how successful i will be

plus i want to watch the next episode of Sabrina on netflix...

message 441: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I keep forgetting to put my books on the read thread sorry!! Would you like me to put the books I’ve finished that aren’t on the official spreadsheet?

message 442: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I started the audio for The Widow (Kate Waters, #1) by Fiona Barton , reading on kindle The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach (which is also for another challenge, and still reading to my daughter Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan on kindle as well. They are all hard to put down. I am enjoying all three.

message 446: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I finished Broken Silence yesterday and the word ‘decorations’ was in the book. Would that count for the bonus?
