Have you read the

The world might as well be its own character, too. It's unique as far as any other Urban Fantasy I've read. :)

Have you read Ilona Andrews or Kelly Gay? I would try both Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels and Nevada Baylor series. They're great. Kate Daniels is a mercenary dealing with a world of shifters and vampires in a world where magic and technology are fighting for dominance. Nevada Baylor is in that magical world trying to keep her family's detective agency alive after her father's death has left them swamped in medical bills.
Kelly Gay's series is about a cop who is dealing with "aliens" that have been here all along, masquerading as supernatural creatures.

Hi, Matt, is it romance fantasy you want or something a little different?

I'm up for anything XD

Have you read the

Thank you I'll check it out XD

No I haven't but I'll check them out thanks XD

Have you read the

Christine feehan has a couple of great series out, I love the ghostwalker series, enhanced soldiers with psychic abilities and a bit of animal DNA great, fast paced books. Lara Adrian, the Midnight breed, alien vampires. If you don't mind a bit of heat, humour and swearing I have a PNR Serial out called The Bound Series. There are a couple of men that read it too. It's a true serial, each new book starts where the previous book ended and the story continues (like a pnr soap opera) the women give as good as they get in this one. I'll have a think about any others. Ooh, maybe Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark, another great series.

Have you read the

Mmmmm those sound very interesting. I'm going to have to check those out too. Thanks XD

Trace of Magic

ooo I'm loving the sound of your book. I'm going to have to check that one out

[book:Trace of Magi..."
This book sounds very interesting. And it has a unique bit, tracers, well going to put this one on my nook thanks XD

Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville series is really good. When it starts, Kitty is not strong, even though she's a werewolf. She's a lot like Anna from Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson spin-off Alpha & Omega series - she's abused by her pack. But as she gains confidence hosting her own radio show for supernatural beings, she finds her own strength and starts to fight for herself.
The first book is Kitty and the Midnight Hour
Benedict Jacka's Alex Verus novels are also great. Alex is a dark mage in London. He runs his own magic shop and tries to lead a quiet life until he gets caught up in events much larger than he is. Although he doesn't know what he's doing half the time, he never gives up. A darker brother to Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden.
The first book is Fated.
Rachel Caine's Weather Wardens, and spin-off Outcast Season, is an amazing series, I finished the last book recently. Joanne Baldwin helps head off storms. The magic system is very different - involves Djinn - and interesting, and the books are fast moving. Jo goes through a LOT in her journey, and I also really like Cassiel from Outcast Season. Nonstop action!
The first Weather Wardens book is Ill Wind and the first Outcast Season is Undone
Hope this helps!

You might be interested in this book When It Will Rayne, It Will Pour. This book has a strong-willed heroine, that has a scarred past but is humorous and witty throughout. Past and present intertwine in an interesting way, while Rayne (the main character) struggles to keep them apart. It is an all-around book full of heartfelt moments, plenty of fight scenes (if you're into that), and romance. Check it out if you can, I think you might like it.

Thank you for sharing. I'll have to look into this book it sounds pretty good XD

(LOVE this series, especially the 2nd book Shadow Cursed)

(One of the most unique concepts I've ever read in a paranormal series, it's about bodywalkers, which are ancient egyptian souls that are reincarnated every 100 years and can merge with a human they feel drawn to and can share the human's body. It sounds creepy but it's not at all. Technically, it is a possessed host kinda thing, but it's voluntary and they can only do this with a human who's dying. It makes the human nearly immortal and the relationship is more like a symbiotic friendship with a very ancient and wise being who talks to you in your head!)

(Love this entire series and can't figure out why so many people have never heard of it)

Thanks Amy, I just order Forbidden and right now looking at blood slaves

I'm glad. I hope you like the Jacquelyn Frank one. If you do, try the book "Jacob" in the Nightwalkers series by the same author. She has a few different series and they often touch lightly on some characters here and there but certainly not in a way that makes it necessary to read them all. Each series can read as a stand alone if you like, but "Jacob" and "Ecstasy" are the 1st books in two of her other Nightwalker series and I loved both of them just as much as "Forbidden".
Anyway, just a thought for later...

Another good series is the Others by Anne Bishop. Definitely unique.
Written in Red
Seanan McGuire - most people like her long running October Daye series, but I've never been able to get into it. However, she has four other series that I dearly love.
The ghost series, and there may be two series: Sparrow Hill Road
Every Heart a Doorway - the Wayward Children series
Discount Armageddon - the Incryptid series
Indexing - dangerous fairy tales

Has anyone mentioned this very unique series by Alex Bledsoe:
The Hum and the Shiver
And his other series which I am also reading: He Drank, and Saw the Spider
The man has a way with titles.

First, I want to second the many votes for The Others series by Anne Bishop. It's one of my absolute favorites too.
Have you considered The Kurtherian Gambit series by Michael Anderle? It's an incredibly unique series. It's not romance but it has a kickass paranormal heroine and strangely, it does dip it's toes into several different genres at some point through this AMAZING series with more than 20 books in the original series. Not to mention the offshoot series that several successful authors have created to run parallel to this unique world. I've found this series to be highly addictive! Plus, all the books are Free if you have Kindle Unlimited.

The 1st book is "Death Becomes Her" by Michael Anderle.

Yes, again with the

A lot of people stumble over the first few books in the Toby Daye series (

"Kell was made of both, balance and chaos; the blood in his veins, like the Isle of Red London, ran a shimmering, healthy crimson, while his right eye was the color of spilled ink, a glistening black."
I didn't enjoy Strange the Dreamer (Laini Taylor) as much as others did but I'd still say the world-building and writing were of decent quality and it's certainly the most creative / different out of all my recommendations.
Six of Crows (Leigh Bardugo) is pretty good too ~
"No mourners. No funerals. Among them, it passed for 'good luck.'"
The Night Huntress series is one of my favourites but I wouldn't say it's unique. If you're fond of academy books, The Black Mage series and the Magesterium series are worth a shot.

Hi Matt,
check this out, it ISNT a gore fest, it is set in Northern Ireland (2008) and it is about two werewolf clans in a turf war. There is no 'myth or fantasy' but there is a science look at wolves.
It is a thriller/ mild horror, and it reads like it was real, I finished it in less than a week.
There are a few twists but I did not see the big twist right at the end !!!!
very very good
