So much of this book changed us. Here at Hello Sunshine we were touched by Laurie's author's note. It was an amazing way to end a beautiful book.

What did you all love about it?

☕️Hélène⚜️ (pawstoodream) I just bought the book once I read I’ll be able to comment on it! Will finish Cass Green book

Heather Thomas | 1 comments This book is something that you don’t forget. I will remember where I was when I was reading or listening to certain parts of the book. The acceptance of this amazing family and their journey to understanding and love is wonderful. I am so happy to have read this book and I am hoping that more people will.

Carrie | 6 comments I’m not done just yet. I’ve got about 45 mins on audible left. But it has already changed so much for my heart, world views and even how I am raising my children. This books has been the pick that I went in most hesitantly but leave a changed person.....for the better!

Ann | 3 comments I am loving this book. I work with someone who has been going through something very similar, and have been awed by how well he and his family have been handling it. Couldn't believe that this month's pick was another wonderful family handling a tough situation amazingly well.

Adrienne | 7 comments This book club suggestion came at an amazing time in my life when my own daughter is figuring things out in her world. It’s such a deep look at acceptance and love. This book has affected me greatly.

Carrie | 6 comments Oh my gosh! I need a sequel! How do they navigate the teen years? What path do they take? I feel in love with family and they just went away! I didn’t want the book to end!

Lisa (lisafriel) I loved this book! It was beautifully written. It was so easy to fall in love with this family. I wish more people would read it and open their minds and their hearts.

@Carrie - I agree! I certainly hope there is a sequel down the road.

Sofie Novak | 2 comments I loved this book and it is easily one of my favourite books now. Probably top 10.

Laurieanna Sicius | 5 comments Anyone else imagined Orlando Jones as Dr. Tongo (not sure if I got the name right)?

Will definitely be giving this book out as Christmas gifts. It was such a touching story and the characters were so real.

Julie i liked the book, i felt like i could relate to the family at first but then i feel like they were too perfect and everything was done right. no money problems or anything..

Christina Poster | 1 comments This book definitely opened my eyes to a topic I don’t typically give much thought to. It tugged at my heart as a parent and made me wonder exactly how I would feel in the same situation.

Lαυɾҽɳ ଘ(੭ºัᴗºั)━☆゚*:. (lulu_belle) | 1 comments So when I read this book, I read online a few reviews. Some complained that having a gender-fluid or trans character (which ARE, admittedly, underrepresented in literature) wasn't in the driver's seat the way that they would have liked. I sympathize, but I think that this book creates a wonderful discussion for family's who might not have ever thought they should be prepared to deal with, understand, and (most importantly) love a member of their clan who bends the rules of identity meerly by exisiting.
For those of us who might not have as understanding a family as the one depicted in this novel, I like to choose interpret it as a nice fantasy of a family that will accept you no matter how weird you are.

Courtney Urda | 17 comments This was a wonderful book and I enjoyed how it touched on the ideas of gender identity vs gender expression. I loved how accepting Poppy's family is, even from the start, and the development of the characters, including the siblings. It was an important point that the parents realized regarding the ideas of secrets and lies within the family and society.

Elisa (goodreadscomelisa) | 3 comments Absolutely faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic! Well written, good storycraft, helpful with life on life's terms, shared what this particular journey really is and how I can relate to it, in my own life changes. Love love love it!

Greta Sommar | 2 comments I love this book, I think every teacher, every kid in there teens should reed it and mayby then we would reed it so we geet knowledge how it feels for people who are afraid to come out and how it is for the family to live in it. It´s written so good that it could be based on a true story.

Erica Martinez | 1 comments so far I am loving this book and I'm half way thru it I wish I had a day I could sit and just read all day and finish it! so far it's a good read...nit what i expected but its good

Ronda (haysx5) | 1 comments Such an interesting read. I wish I had read this a few years ago when my kids were navigating through dealing with friends in similar situations. Lots of thought provoking material. It almost seems a sequel is needed to deal with the teenage years.

skketch (goodreadscomnovel_thoughts) This is an excellent novel dealing with subject matter that is very timely. Though a serious subject, there are some rather light moments in the book which helps to offset the heaviness of it as well. It is a relatable book with well written likeable characters. Psychologists have long said that gender identification begins between 3 and 4 yrs old. A child that young doesn't understand social implications of this, it JUST is. So why are people so afraid of this? What makes people become so violent in the presence of transgender people?
