I'm sorry Keriann, only previous winners of the ManbookerPrize are eligible, Half Blood Blues was shortlisted, but didn't win. Sorry!

I can nominate a past winner AND upvote 2 of the books nominated by others?

Thats right! And you can wait with the two 'upvotes' until more books have been nominated, in other words: you dont have to do it in one message. Plus: you dont have to nominate a book in order to be 'allowed' to upvote 2 others.

I’d also like to nominate How Late It Was, How Late by James Kelman.
Thanks :)

Hi Diane, another member has already nominated The Inheritance of Loss. Your nomination will be counted as 'upvote' for the book. If you want you can nominate another winner.

Sorry, but only one upvote per book.

Sorry, Karen, only one upvote per book :-).

I only have Saville and Vernon God Little left to read, and I predict that Saville will be one of the last five to get chosen, so I am unlikely to wait that long!
I will upvote True History of the Kelly Gang and Moon Tiger

I'll use my second upvote for The Ghost Road.
It looks like we have--again--plenty of lovely stories to choose from. Thanks for moderating, Britta.

Now that the Manbooker 2018 fever is over, we will return to reading the backlist of previous winners again until next February. (In March 2019 the Man Booker International Prize 2019 longlist will be announced and we'll be working our way through the longlist from March - May).
Because it's been a while since we picked a book from the backlist, here are the rules:
1. Every member may nominate 1 previous winner excluding the ones that we've read previously (see the list below)
2. Every member may second (or upvote) 2 other nominations by other members
3. If someone has already nominated a book you want to read, give it 1 of your 2 upvotes instead of saying "I nominate x"
The book with the most votes by October 28th (midnight CET) will be the November pick!
In the past we have read the following books which are NOT eligible for November:
-The Luminaries
-The Line of Beauty
-The Blind Assassin
-The God of Small Things
-The Narrow Road to the Deep North
-A Brief History of Seven Killings (2015 winner)
-The Sellout (2016 winner)
-The Sense of an Ending
-Hotel du Lac
-Midnight's Children
-The Remains of the Day
-Lincoln in the Bardo (2017 winner)
-Possession
-The Bone People
-Wolf Hall
-White Tiger
Happy nominating/voting!
