Tess | 439 comments This was a short story linked in the Tor.com emails,and might have been in one of their collections of the Best of Tor.com but I can't remember.
I read this in the past three years. It's told in third person, I think, but from the point of view of people who are reenacting what an early 1900's Jewish community would have been like had Hitler not won WWII and wiped them and the religion out.
