There is no captain for this team. So if you would like to nominate one, or not, please let me know :D

Since it's basically Saturday morning, I wanted to let every team know that the SS has been made! Sorry for the lateness guys - work was hectic! Just so you know the SS has zero formulas. I feel like everyone likes something different so I left them kind of plain and boring for now. If you need me to add formulas, let me know. If you want to jazz up your teams SS, you are more than welcome to!

Please let me know if you can't access the teams SS!!

ALSO - you will still find out your 5 categories tomorrow (but like.. after I wake up since I haven't gone to bed yet.. xD)

Team,

I have updated your SS with some formulas and you also have your 5 categories as well!

Valerie | 30 comments checking in and about the spreadsheet, is there a typo in the points for 250-349 pages? or is it meant to also be worth 2 points?

oh yes there was! However, the point system is correct on the second tab on your SS. Thank you for letting me know - it has been fixed :D

Valerie | 30 comments Anyone interested in doing a buddy read for this challenge?

message 12: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments Valerie, what do you want to BR? I saw Bartleby and Benito Cereno by Herman Melville on your TBR, I would read that if you want! I’m also up for a BR of anything on my up-next list or general TBR.

I'd be down to read Bartleby and Benito Cereno by Herman Melville . I've been meaning to read that since college a million years ago :) so how does this work exactly? One of us has to put in a request to BR somewhere? I'm still getting used to how groups work >.<

message 14: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments Yes! First we decide what day we want to start. We can each actually start up to a week before or after, so it’s just to agree on a general time frame. Then one of us requests a thread here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

When do you want to start? I can start Nov 1, but if you need some time to get the book or finish up other books, we can make it later. :)

Nov 1st works for me! With my hubby on evening shift, I have a lot of free time this week and possibly next week :p I guess I'll go make the thread request now =) Should we be picking a category for this to go with in the spreadsheet?

Also, if anyone wants to BR the Maddaddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood or the African trilogy by Chinua Achebe I totally don't mind rereading the 1st volumes =)

message 16: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 30 comments @Caroline: Here's the BR thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 17: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments Thanks! Yeah, I assume we should each pick a different category in the SS so we don’t repeat the book in the same category. I just put mine down for the Cersei category.

TheYALibrarian | 196 comments This is hard none of the books I'm reading seems like they would fit into one of the blanks well...

message 36: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments Yeah, that is the case for most of mine as well. But I think we could just pick the best fit and make it work. Do you want to post your books? The rest of us could try to help with suggestions.

That's a great idea I'm almost done with this one Romantic Outlaws The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Her Daughter Mary Shelley by Charlotte Gordon any suggestions?

message 38: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments So I’m not sure if you’re aware, but it is okay to use just part of the title. So for that one I would say maybe:
Last time Cersei had too much to drink, she had a bad experience with outlaws
Or What is the force? Extraordinary lives

If other people have better ideas, feel free to chime in! With long titles there is some room for creativity.

message 39: by Valerie (last edited Nov 04, 2018 01:35PM) (new)

Valerie | 30 comments also, this is a "just for fun" group. I'll happily rack up some points, but I'm not really in it to win per se.
Speaking of the categories, should we be filling in the blank there with the part of the title/author we are using?
(which i'm aware would be odd since there is only one blank and we have to fill it 4 times)

message 40: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments Yeah, I agree! I am in it for fun, not to win.

For filling in the blank, do you mean in the SS? I don’t think we need to there, but when posting reviews I would.

I just started The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon , and I’m also finishing up a bunch of stuff I started before November, which will just be for page points. What about everyone else?
