History
When Vivian was born, for some reason her biological family did not want her. To this day she doesn't understand why. When she was a month old, her mother dropped her off at an adoption center, giving them all information that they may want to know. So, Vivian grew up in a school type structure with people that weren't her siblings or parents. As a child however, Vivian was rather silent. It didn't seem to matter who held her, she was accepting of everyone there. Even when she was dropped one time when one of the other children was holding her. She was only dropped on a bed after all, if it had been a floor, it probably would have been a different story.
When school started, Vivian was very social with all of the children, being friends with pretty much everyone at the adoption center as well. It didn't seem to bother her that her family gave her up. Inside however, it ate her up everyday, but she wouldn't get anything done if she let it bring her down. So, she didn't let it. She got interested in a few different things in school, such as dancing and swimming. When middle school came around, she always looked forward to gym so that she could swim. And in high school, she joined the dance and soccer team. It was so much fun!
Around this time, however, she saw something on the news about someone passing away from a car accident. And that man had her last name! Trying to figure it out, she actually went to the funeral home the day of the wake. She walked in and everything. The first person that noticed her was a woman that looked very much like her. And there were also so many older people in there that seemed to have a feature that she did. The woman said her name and Vivian knew that she was her mother. And the person who had died was her father. She didn't stay longer after that, she ran back to the home and laid face down in her bed for the next 5 hours until dinnertime. Things changed for her after that though, dramatically.
One day she was watching the children play in the yard, still torn up about what she had found out. Before she knew it, the windows around the orphanage broke. Exploded! Two of the children got hurt that day and needed stitches and the care takers swore she had thrown something at those windows. But to break?! All at the same time!? She had just been sitting there. The head of the orphanage did not thing she had anything to do with it, but it happened again. This time though, it was worse. She was in the kitchen, making some food for one of the children when they went to touch a knife. Vivian reached down to stop them and she put her hand, palm out, to the child when the girl went playing back onto the counter. Vivian couldn't believe it...she hadn't even touched the child! She was trying to calm down the crying child when the caretakers came and forced her away from them and before she knew it, she was diagnosed with an emotional disorder and sent off to a home for kids with mental illnesses. She just didn't understand...she never did any of the things she was told she had done.

History
Birth-Camping (0-11 Years Old)
Albany never knew who her parents were, she was brought up in an orphanage. She remembers little of her time there, just remembered the grouchy nurses who needed to care for her in the middle of the night when she would wake up crying. The time one of the children dropped her because she vomited gross baby puke on them. Nothing too interesting. She was adopted when she was 3 years old and brought to a nice, wealthy family. Not dirty rich, but they were doing well with themselves. Her mother was sickly, which was why she was very able to have a child of her own. So that's why they adopted Albany. It was fine at this home, they took care of Albany well and she loved her family. She wasn't really a fussy child, especially when she was put outside....
Albany loved to be outside, loved to lay down in the grass and swing and jump around on a trampoline. It was the most enjoyable part of the day for her. So the first time they were camping, it was great. She loved it, loved climbing those trees and just feeling one with nature. It was when she felt the most alive. They started going camping every year until she was 11 years old when things changed...
Cheating-Accident (11-13 Years Old)
Albany and her mother had gotten home from seeing a movie one day when they walked in on her father kissing another woman. It was someone that her mother worked with. After a lot of yelling, screaming and accusations, it was learned that her father had been doing this for quite some time. In no time, her father had moved out with the woman and moved to West Virginia, Albany staying with her mother, though the custody battle raged for a few long time. Her father was trying to figure out every little thing wrong with her mother to get custody of Albany. But Albany didn't want to see that man anymore, didn't trust him in the slightest.
After the divorce, Albany started to make more friends at school to help cope with the pain. She was pretty popular to begin with after all, so weeding her way into pretty much every social group there was wasn't a problem. The problem came when she was being driven home from a small party one night. It had just been a small one, maybe about 12 people there, and no drinking involved. The older brother of Albany's almost boyfriend was driving them home when they suddenly crashed, sending the car tossing and spinning all over the place, it seemed to last forever. When Albany came to, she was hanging upside down in the car, alone. The 2 people she had been driving with had gotten thrown out of the car and died right away. Albany escaped the crash with minor injuries, just a concussion and a nice scar above her left eyebrow. But she seemed to loose a huge part of herself after that crash and witnessing death like that.
The Change-Present (13 Years Old-16 Years Old)
One she was recovered physically, Albany's father finally won custody of her and she was forced to leave her mother. She was a complete wreck! She had to leave her mother after she was in a car crash that killed two people! Had to go and live with someone that she hated! When she was well enough to go to school, she did her best to stay social ,but she took out her anger and frustration on people who were lesser than her. Smaller than she was. She wanted to feel in control of something, wanted to feel powerful in some aspect and she just took the wrong approach with it.
A month after her 16th birthday is when her father got into a massive fight with her. They were screaming and calling one another every name under the sun when her step mother stepped in. Albany had had enough! She screamed louder and louder and when her step mother came closer to her, she pushed her. But she didn't even get a chance to push her hard when there was a large flash of light from her hand and her step mother went soaring through the air and slammed into the wall, falling to the ground unconscious. Albany couldn't believe it....Her father was hysterical, yelling at her while calling the ambulance for her step mother. Albany was soon thrust into a home for mental unstable children, abandoned by her father even though her mother fought tooth and nails to get her out.

History
Nothingness... (Birth-8 Years Old)
Everett has very little memory of the time before he was 8. He remembered a woman...and a man. His parents maybe? Not like he had a picture to identify them with. He remembered jumping on a trampoline on a clean, well kept yard...He remembered an older woman....Someone with really light hair....Crying....Screaming.....Exploding pain in his shoulder....Blistering heat...Then there was a pair of hands reaching for him as he struggled, his head turning and he was in a completely white room with a lot of machines. A hospital. Those hands grabbed him as he whimpered, feeling his shoulder be exposed as it burned in pain. And then....nothing.
First Memory-Reveal (8-12 Years Old)
Everett's first memories were in a home with a lot of other children. An orphanage, or as it was called a foster home. But he wasn't sure why he was here. He didn't have parents waiting for him, working hard to overcome whatever they had done to get him put in here. He had no one. He stayed away from other children for the most part, not like they wanted much to do with him anyways. He was an outcast, plain and simple. He knew it and accepted it.
Everett's stay wasn't very long in this place, 3 months at the most before he was taken in by a woman, Janette. He took on her last name, since they didn't know his, and went on home with her. It was fine there, the woman wasn't over smothering and took care of him. He didn't have a lot of things to play with at the home, mainly because he didn't need to. Didn't want anything. For years this went on, nothing crazy happening until he turned 12. Then things started to be weird. He started to feel..different. His body going through some sort of changes...He didn't understand them and he didn't want to alarm Janette. Though, little did he know, she already knew. It was when he was throwing up violently in the bathroom one night that she explained it to him. Explained what he was. A werewolf. He thought she was crazy, certainly she was. There was no such thing...except there was. And she proved it to him to by changing in front of him. She was a werewolf too.
Transformation-High School (12 Years Old to 15 Years Old)
Everett didn't have a lot of trouble believing her once it was shown to him clearly and it made sense. He had read stories about werewolves and he did have that bit on his shoulder. Janette explained to him that he had been bitten, but she wouldn't tell him much more about his childhood. She just told him he lived with parents that didn't love him very much and it wasn't an accident that he was bitten. It was planned, but even she didn't understand why. Everett was curious, of course, but he didn't have much time to think about it much. Because he had to learn how to control and understand what he was under the surface. The first time he changed was when he was 13 on the full moon. It was weird, it hurt so bad he nearly passed out. But he also felt...calm when he was like this. He felt somewhat at peace as he ran through those woods as an animal he had never been before. It was the first time he felt like he belonged somewhere...
When High school started for him, he continued to stay away from people. Sure, people tried to act nice with him, but he was horribly uncomfortable around them. He felt suffocated whenever he was with a big group of people and voices were always around him because he could hear so well. It was hard. He also got a foster sister when he came and she was a werewolf as well, only a year younger than him and she started high school when he did. They got along decently, it wasn't anything life changing for him to have a sister. She was sort of just someone else to him.
Mistake-Present (14 Years Old to 17 Years Old)
Everett went through school as normally as he could, staying out of everyone's way as much as he could. Some guys tried to pick fights with him sometimes, but someone would always break it up before it turned physical. Girl would try to flirt with him, but he pushed them away easily, scared them off pretty good and effectively since they rarely ever came back to talk to him. He just stayed with his foster sister, who he was starting to like more and more as time went on. They got along much better than at first when they were so awkward. Things were fine. Until one day after school. Some guys decided it would be fun to try and start stuff with his sister, trying to hit on her. Everett knew it was happening and she started over calming to stop it, but when he say one of the men slap her after she pushed him away from grabbing her butt, he snapped. He ran over and threw the guy who touches her against the wall, breaking another guys arm, knocking another guy unconscious while 2 of the other guys ran away. He hadn't even meant to do it....He didn't mean to loose his cool as much as he did. He just saw Harley in trouble and..acted.
Out of the guys he had hurt, one got a serious concussion and one of them had spinal issues so they wouldn't be able to walk normally for the rest of their lives. Everett was heartbroken about what he had done and it was not without consequence. He was sent to a place for people with mental issues, him being diagnosed as having multiple personality disorder. But he knew that was crap. The just put a label on him to do it. He had acted out and they didn't know what to do about it, so they slapped some crap on him and called him crazy. He knew he was dangerous now, he knew that. And he wanted help. But not in this place. This place was full of lies. And something happened to his foster family cause they stopped contacting him soon after he got into the place. He new he needed to break out and he knew he could...but at the same time, he was scared to. He realized how dangerous the wolf inside of him was, how he couldn't control his instincts at all....He was a danger to a lot of people and he was scared. Of himself...

The pull is intense, the call to just let go...
Let go and change into something that is hard to understand...
Something that is so agonizing, yet so beautiful at the same time...
You can't resist it, no matter how hard you try.
It's apart of you, whether you want it to be or not.
It's like your drowning and you need to get air...
You know that once you get that air everything will be okay,
yet you're reluctant to leave this thing that you've become use to.
It's one of the worst feeling in the wolf, forced to go into something you despise...

Date of Birth: July 25th
Species: Nercomancer
Appearance:

Height: 5'9"
Weight:165lbs
Marks of note: Light freckles all over her body. Small scar on the back of her neck from a fall down some stairs.
Arrival to the Lyle House: Coming from a loving and supportive family, Val thought she could tell them anything. It turned out that wasn't the case. Not after she told them of the haunting images that had started to appear all over the place. Grotesque bodies that hung in corners, hands that appeared from no where, and the faces with desperate eyes had cropped up around her the past couple of weeks. She screamed the first few times, trying to point it out to someone, anyone. But no one else could see the living nightmares. At first her parents said it was just fatigue and stress, and Val believe them. Yet weeks passed and the visions wouldn't go away. Her parents set up appointments with doctors, therapists, and even a priest, none of whom were any help. With the visions getting worse and no treatment Val is sent to the group home for unstable children in hope that she will be able to get the support she needs, even though she is certain it is just to hide their crazy daughter several states away.

Arrival to the Lyle House: For years, Dallas has suffered from night terrors and bouts of sleepwalking, which are believed to be caused by the house that killed his father. He was only 8 at the time, yet he the trauma scarred him both physically and mentally. His mother tried to take care of Dallas and his older sister but she couldn't handle the lost of her husband and fell into depression. The kids were sent to live with their grandparents and even though it was a strict household, it was a good one. Dallas just couldn't recover like his sister had managed to do. The school counselor said it was PTSD, which as far as he knew it might have been. To him though, he was just scared of falling asleep. Almost every time he would have this horribly vivid dreams of being lost somewhere, in a body that wasn't his own. The worse ones were when he could see his own body on the bed. Because of this Dallas tried to sleep as little as possible, which had his passing out at school, and once in the car. It also had him loosing weight at a dangerous rate. This factors are what had his grandparents sending him to Lyle house, knowing they would be more qualified to handle the problems.

Though he failed to see how making people happy was considered a menace. Since the age of 14 he has been...intimately involved with people. He had never been shy but once puberty hit, he found that he had a silver tongue that left little out of his reach. For a while his family denied the truth of his sneaking out, and the countless people that seemed to be around him. It wasn't as if he was trying to hide it. If anyone asked, he would openly say who he been with and when. Eventually though he started using sex as means to get other things and once the cops got involded, the options were ju-v or treatment at the Lyle house. He took the lesser of two evils and basically nothing had changed for him since arriving there.

Date of Birth: June 17th
Species: Banshee
Appearance:

Height: 5'4"
Weight:140"
Marks of note:Several surgical scars from various broken bones. Mild gauges in her ears, and some other piercings.
Arrival to the Lyle House: Kody was raised by her Air force general of a father. A hard man that lived by his way only, there was no highway. While he never explicitly said it, she knew that he wanted a son rather than a daughter and raised her as such. Home was never truly bad, not like what some people had. But the fact that he would never talk about her mother, and his constant smothering of anything mildly feminine in her, an uncrossable rift formed between them. In High school she started to lash out at others to work out her emotions, since men don't cry, they fight. One time though the emotions built up too much and no matter how many fights she started it wasn't enough. Out of frustration she ran away to some crop fields just to scream. The scream flattened several hundred yards of the stalks. Shocked but invigorated by the sense of relief, Kody would sneak out for months after that just to release her frustrations. Still though she had a combative personality and eventually she picked a fight with the wrong lawyer's kid and ended up getting sent away to for anger management.

He used to show it to his fosters families, but after the 3rd one sent him away, he kept the fact to himself. Do you want Dallas to come after her or have gotten there, like, a few weeks before her?
Also, who would you like to be aware of what they are and be roommates with Everett (the outcast werewolf I told you about)? I was thinking Marc might be a possible choice for that? Just from what I read from his history, he seems to be aware of what he is haha

I was thinking that Dallas would come after her, Not by alot but just enough that I might have a slightly better grasp on the storyline.
As for who is aware, Kel and Kody know what they can do, though might not have a proper name for what they are. Marc is very well aware of his gifts, but he thinks of it more as just talent rather than anything supernatural. So I would say Kel would be the best roommate option if you want someone that is aware of what is going on. Though If you think Marc would be a better fit that is acceptable as well.)

And no if you think Kel would be better than I'm perfectly fine with him (: whoever is most aware of what they are and what they can do is who would be the best option to be Everett's roommate.

The cabby had given her a strange look when a lone teenage girl got picked up at the airport with nothing more than a large suitcase and a backpack so covered in patches and ornaments that the original design can barely be seen. She hadn't said a word to the the man beyond telling him the address of the house and thanking him once they reached it. On a normal day she might have been chatty and conversational, but there were no more normal days for her. Not since her parents had stopped believing her.
Shaking off the heavy thoughts and not daring to think about what had caused all of this, Val looked up place that was to be her new home. No not her home, her treatment center. She was here only to get cured, and then she could go to her real home. This would all be over in a couple of months, then everything would be back to normal. Val was certain of it.

Out on the porch there was a woman standing there wearing simple clothing, but she has a lanyard around her neck. When she noticed the cab pulling up, she went down the stairs to the sidewalk to meet Val as she came out of the car.
"Valarie right? I'm Miss.Henderson, I'm one of the nurses here at the Lyle house," she introduced herself cheerfully, offering her hand for the girl to shake it. She was a nice looking woman, long brown hair put up in a ponytail, blue eyes shining bright. She was young too, no more than 25.

Despite her best efforts, the teenager couldn't help but to compare herself to the nurse. Suddenly very self conscious at the wreck her own hair was in, just a messy dark knot at the back of her neck. To distract herself, the new arrival glanced beyond Miss Henderson raking her gaze over the house once more. Even though it seem welcoming enough, it still felt alien to her for some reason. It was probably just her emotions all tied up again, she reminded herself.
Shifting her backpack a little higher on her shoulder, Val continued with, "Thank you for having me here." Whether she liked it or not, she wasn't about to take it out on the staff, it wasn't their fault she was seeing these hallucinations.

"It's not a problem at all, it happens. Especially around here for some reason, people are always on the move," she said with a small laugh, getting her bag out of the cab for her and paying the man, since the house did cover expenses such at that. Once the man had driven off, she motioned towards the house.
"Well everyone is expecting you so let's get you inside so we can start the tour, yes?" she said, still carrying her bag for her as they headed up the steps. She had read Valarie's file and knew what she was in here for, but she never liked to bring that sort of stuff up to them right when someone comes, makes them all uncomfortable she found. Once she got into the house, she shut the door and let out a small sigh, giving the girl a moment to look around.
The inside looked just as grandmotherly as the outside did. The furniture was nice and not very warn down, a pale color of yellow sort of like the outside of the house. All hardwood floors with some carpeting here and there. It was large too, the downstairs, and looked like it had quite a few rooms in it. But it had a cozy kind of atmosphere to it. Over by one of the couches sat another girl who looked over when they came in. She looked at Valarie right away and smiled, standing up from the couch and smoothing out the pink dress she was wearing, but not speaking or coming closer to them yet.

She started to object when Miss. Henderson went ahead and took her suitcase, but chickened out at the last second. The nurse was just being polite, she reasoned, it wasn't that big of a deal. The color aside, Valerie had to admit that she liked how this place seemed more like a home than a hospital. At the very least the place didn't smell like disinfectant like a hospital.
As she glanced around she spotted a a platinum blonde boy leaning on the railing of the second floor looking down at her. He had a lazy smile on his lips and when he caught her eye, he gave a small finger wave but remained silent. There was also a girl in a living room nearby, who, as Miss Henderson had said, was clearly waiting for her. Val offered her a bit of a half smile, uncertain if now was the time to introduce herself, or wait for some kinda group meeting.
"So, will this tour include the bathroom? That was a long cab ride." Val poor attempt at humor was only made worse by her nervous laughter.

"Hi, I'm Vivian. You can call me Effie if you want though, it's a little nickname," she greeted herself, offering her hand for the other girl to shake. Like the nurse, she looked very kind. Her eyes were big and shining bright with happiness and curiosity. She looked young as well, younger than Valarie anyways. And she was, youngest person at the house at only just recently turning 15. But she was okay with that.
"Vivian is a sweetheart, I promise. I'm sure you'll get along just fine. So, you go ahead and show her your room and if you need anything I'll be in the kitchen," Miss. Henderson said, passing the suitcase on to Vivian, who took it, but from how her arms got yanked down when she took it, it was clear it was quite heavy for her. She didn't complain though, just picked up up as best she could with both hands and motioning with her head towards the steps.
"Our bedrooms are upstairs, you can follow me," she said and began to head towards the steps, keeping that bright smile on her face. It wasn't a fake smile either, it was clear she was genuinely excited.

The first impression was good and actually took some of the tension out of Val's shoulders. This Effie was alot friendlier than she had feared the residents would be in a home for mentally unwell teens. Maybe her fears were for naught. "I'm Val, Here I can carry that, thank you though." She gently took the suitcase back from the younger girl, feeling guilty to see her struggle like that at first, though she admire the other's determination.
Valerie followed her new roommate/tour guide to the steps and noticed that the boy hadn't moved. He just rested an elbow on the banister and watched her with half lidded eyes. For some reason the look made her cheeks feel hot. She quickly broke the eye contact and tried to fill the awkward moment with something else, "The house seemed pretty big from outside. How many bedrooms are there?"
Even though she had asked Effie the question the boy chuckled and called to them, "Only one that matters."

"Easy on the new girl Marc, please. I don't want her scared off within her first 10 minutes here," she spoke to the guy as they got to the second floor, looking at him, then at Valarie,"Valarie this is Marc. He's a bit of a flirt, but overall harmless." She wasn't sure just how true that was however, since there were rumors the nurses always spoke of that he forced himself onto people, though she had personally never seen him really push it onto anyone here, like, in a forceful manner.
"Harmless is hardly a good word for him, he's full on predator. You know, sneak into your room and watch you sleep at night kind crap," another vice suddenly piped in and a tall boy with red hair came out from behind Marc. He noticed Valarie and offered a smile to her."New girl I see. I'm Luke." He also seemed like a nice person, very nice smile that lit up his whole face. Very boy next door kinda look to him.

Someone else joined the small group by the stairs and Val noticed how both boy s were taller than her, which was kinda uncommon for her age group. Then again as she gave them a second look, both of them looked to fairly older than her. She did her best to return the smile to the ginger, Luke, but before she could say anything Marc glanced over to him with a smirk. "Easy now, I only have ever done that to you. You're special that way Luke."
It was suddenly very obvious to Val that this boy's flirting didn't exactly have limits. Not that she was bothered by someone who swung both ways, it did make her wonder if that story was true. As unsettled as Marc made her for a moment, Luke had helped being her nerves back down. That was four friendly introductions since she had arrived. Maybe it wouldn't be as bad as she feared. "Hi, I'm Val. And yep I'm the new girl, thanks for the warning."

"No don't do that to Everett, he literally almost killed you last time Marc," Vivian said with a roll of her eyes and a shake of her head, looking back over at Valarie,"Sorry, I know you're probably really confused with this conversation. But you'll get to know everyone here soon enough, it's getting close to dinner anyways. But let's get you to the room, yeah?" She didn't wanna drag her right into the pits of how this house could be sometimes. Everyone was actually normal, to a degree. There wasn't anyone mumbling in the corner or running up and down stairs laughing yet. And she wanted to keep that stereotype far away from Valarie's opinions and thoughts on this place.

It had suddenly become very apparent that Val had arrived at a home that had it's own dynamics and she was getting thrown right in the middle of it. "Confused doesn't begin to cover it. Sorry but I have to ask, this Everett didn't actually try to kill him for flirting did he?" She was a little afraid of answer, but felt like it was necessary to know. If anyone in the house was murderous, she wanted to stay the hell away from them.

"Kill I suppose is a strong word," she replied with a somewhat nervous chuckle, clearing her throat,"Marc likes to push harder with Everett since he's so stone faced and unresponsive. But he went a little too far one time, a small fight broke out and Everett...may or may not have told him if he even said what he said again he was gonna make him regret it...And he may or may not have told him that while he was holding him near the railing of the steps."
She sighed softly and shook her head as they got to the room and she pushed the door open, letting the other go inside first.
"I know I probably scared you right off the bat, but it's really not that bad here. No one is super violent or mean or lashes out. It's kinda like...high school. Fights and arguments happen sometimes and as long as you stay out of them, well, you shouldn't have anything to worry about," she replied to him, shutting the door behind them."

"Right, high school about sums up that description. I have to say though, I am not thrilled about the idea of living in middle of school drama. How many kids are here anyway?" Val took a look around the room and was relived to find that even though she would be share the room with Vivian it looked like they would each have a fair amount of space to call their own.

"They'll give you a some options of different bedding you can choose from later," she informed her with a smile, coming further into the room,"There's 10 of us including you, 4 girls, you, me, Albany and Dakota and 6 guys, Marc, Kelly, Dallas, Luke, Everett and Payton. Albany and Dakota share a room and then there's Everett with Kelly, Luke, Payton and Dallas share one room and Marc gets his own since, you know, he was caught watching Luke sleeping when they shared a room. Scared the heck out of Luke I'll tell you that." She laughed softly at that, motioning to a door.
"That there's the bathroom. I know you mentioned you needed to go," she said to her with a kind smile, taking a seat on her bed for the moment so the girl could go take care of her business.

The list of names was a little overwhelming as she tried to remember all of them. Marc was the blonde that had a flirting issue and Luke was the seemingly friendly red head. The only other name she had any information on was Everett and all she had to go on there was not to mess with him. "Noted. Do these bedrooms have locks? Cause maybe we should lock Marc into his room at night just to keep things calm." Her comment was mostly a joke but she did wonder if the older boy had tried to creep out his roommate on purpose.
"Oh thanks,"Val ducked quickly into the bathroom, taking the time to give herself a minute to recover. Things were different than expected here at Lyle house. Not that she had expected the place to horrible, just not so friendly. She figured that she ought to be grateful for that. If her parents really were trying to hide their crazy daughter, at least they picked a nice place for her stay for a while. After splashing some water on her face and redoing her hair, Val felt slightly wary of the situation and maybe even a little hopeful.
She reentered the bedroom after a couple of minutes and glanced curiously to Vivian, "Do you mind if I ask where the name Effie came from?"

"No they can't have locks on them for security purposes. But maybe if we propose the idea, they might make an exception for Marc's room so we can lock him in," she replied with a small giggle, smiling brightly at her. She let her go into the bathroom and just waited for her.
She had been waiting to get a roommate ever since she got here months ago, she had been so lonely after all. And so far Valarie seemed like a decent girl. There was nothing about her that screamed that she was really crazy. Though no one here really was. It was a pretty normal house compared to, you know, the houses that they show on the tv shows. Thats what she had been most afraid of, but it wasn't like that at all. It was like camp in a way. She looked back up when the other girl came back into the room, laughing softly at her question.
"Oh yeah, that. Well, I lived in an orphanage before I came here and I took care of the children. But I guess my name is really hard for toddlers to say, so I decided to give them something easier to say. And we would watch Pokemon a lot there and my favorite was Eevee, but the kids, when they said it, it always came out sounding more like Effie. So I told them to start calling me that," she explained with a smile.

The question wasn't anymore graceful then the previous comment but she felt less guilty mentioning it. She took up a seat on the edge of her bed, glancing to Effie, curious abut the answer all the same. There were other questions sparking in Val's thoughts but they didn't seem prudent to ask, even though the blonde girl seemed all too happy to chat.

"It's honestly not too bad. I describe it kinda like a camp in a way. We have certain times we do everything, like chores and schoolwork. The food we eat here is super nutritious too and a lot of the time we help make it. I dunno, it's not too bad. Most of the nurses and doctors are nice and none of the others as particularly mean. The most you need to watch out for is Everett, but he won't bother you if you don't bother him, and Albany, but I heard she's in here for emotional issues anyways. But she's not bad. And, of course, Marc, but he won't push you too hard," she explained, shrugging her shoulders.

Not that she would have minded too much. So far she hadn't had any hallucinations or heard anything strange in the house. But if they did start to appear, and she had no means to spend time elsewhere? It was not going to be pretty. Back home she could no longer sleep in her bedroom, not with the rotting hands clawing at her sheets in the middle of the night.

She stood up from the bed after she explained, offering her a comforting smile."I know it might feel like a prison or something for the first few days, but it's really not bad. And, depending on what you're here for, you'll be gone in no time. Now come on and I'll give you a proper tour." This is what she had been looking forward to doing actually, walking around the house with Valarie. Most of the time she was in her room cause she didn't talk to much anyone else, except Kelly. The two of them got along nicely, very nicely actually. He was a very good friend. And she hoped that Valarie was going to be as well.

"Ah sure that would be great." Her lips tightened into something of half smile, "Though as long as there is a tv with a dvd player somewhere, I'll be happy." Val had no idea if that was something that was allowed in a place like this, but if she was confined to the house for the most part she intended to pass the downtime with the folder of new movies in her backpack, them being a gift from her dad for her trip.

"That's the way to the boys rooms and the doctors rooms, most of them live here and there are some offices up here as well. Most actually. The boys and girls section arn't separated by, like, a wall or anything, but the boys know better than to come over here. For the most part anyways," she explained, starting down the stairs with Valarie,"Everyone needs to wake up at 7 o'clock and be downstairs by 8 o'clock for breakfast. Then we go about our day, retire to bed at 9 o'clock and need to have lights out by 10 o'clock."

"I am pretty sure that is the viewpoint of anyone over the age of 30. I think its a generational thing. I just really happen to like movies, so I hope that list isn't to picky." She tried to laugh it off but concern muffled it slightly. If they really were going to limit her time with movies, plus not being able to leave the property, she was going to struggle to find some new hobbies.
A low whistle escaped her lips when her new roommate outlined the schedule. "And how many of us follow that to the letter? I'm not normally even tired until 11 or 12." Val was much more of a night owl than an early bird. She was alright with waking up at whatever time, but she just felt more active at night. This place was really just flipping all of her existence on it's head.

"I don't think a lot of us go to bed that early, but they'll get you if they notice your light is off past 10 o'clock. So you might not need to go to bed by then, but the lights in the room at least have to be off," she explained. Coming into the kitchen, she noticed Dakota was in there peeling potatoes and she waved to the girl."Hey Dakota, I'm glad I found you. I wanted to introduce Valarie to you, she's gonna be sharing a room with me while she's here."

Her thoughts drifted just long enough for her roommate to get away from her and downstairs already. Scurrying to catch up, she rounded the last step and joined the blonde at the entry of the kitchen to find a punk looking girl with a potato in one hand an a peeler in the other. Given the fact that she seem about the same age as them, Val assumed that this was one of the other residents, which was confirmed when Effie gave an introduction. When Dakota did nothing but stare at the two of them, the new comer offered a weak smile, "Hi..."
A smirk tugged at the edge of Kody's mouth as she gave the other a once over. 'Welcome to the modern version of concentration camp. Don't forget to get your complementary tattoo after dinner." She waited until the color started to drain from Val's face before her head tipped back in a bold laugh, ' Easy there Snowflake. Learn to take joke."

"I almost ran for the hills when I first met him...And he got here after I did," a familiar voice chimed in. Luke came out of the cupboard eating a handful of peanuts, leaning on the counter next to Dakota."Though it's not really hard to be scared of him. The guy's a giant."
"You're one to talk Luke, you're the second tallest person here!" Vivian said with clear humor in her voice, giving him a pointed look,"And you're not setting a very good example for my roommate here, eating before it's dinnertime. One of these days you're gonna be caught."
"I know I am, but he's the tallest person which makes him scarier than I am," he replied, looking to Dakota and offering her a few peanuts. Out of everyone, he got along with this girl the most, but their styles and tastes were the most similar. So that shouldn't really be surprising."And a man's gotta eat Vi, I can't help it that I have a fast metabolism."

"Speak for yourself. I'm not scared of him and I sure as hell ain't scared of you. If that recluse decided to say more than two words to me at a time then I'd bring him down to size." She spoke with a confidence that someone her size shouldn't be saying to someone a foot taller than her. Val noted then that if Luke was only the second tallest, how huge was this mysterious last guy?
With a satisfied grin, Kody accepted the peanuts, abandoning the potatoes to the counter." Ya Princess, if he ever wants to stand a chance against me then he needs the extra calories to bulk up." The short haired girl tossed two of the peanuts into the air and caught them in her mouth.
Val glanced across the group and again reveled in the friendly aura that the residents here already seemed to have. She couldn't help the smile that curled up her lips as she felt herself starting to relax again, to forget why she was here in the first place." I take it that's another rule to know? No extra snacks? Well I am glad I brought a candy stash."

"You might change your mind about not being scared of him when you actually meet him. He's pretty intimidating," Vivian said with a small smile at her, then nodded at her words,"And yeah, it's another pretty big rule here. Don't try and sneak extra food, they only wanna feed us the absolute maximum number of calories that we need in a day, which is unfortunate for those of us who have fast metabolisms, like Luke and Everett do."
"I almost fought him over the last of those mashed potatoes last night. But somebody," Luke said accusingly, looking over at Dakota,"had to take them before either of us got to it." He reached over and pinched her cheek slightly as he popped the last of the peanuts into his mouth and wiped his hand on his jeans.

Kody groaned and rolled her eyes at her friend's chastising tone. She had been trying to goad someone into a good tussle since she got to Lyle house, but everyone was too noble or passive to accept the challenge. Which left her just doing Kata on her own out in the yard to keep up her strength. The staff couldn't complain, at least she was no longer putting holes in walls this way. "Next time don't get so distracted."" Dakota slapped the hand away lightly and shot his a challenging sneer before collecting the potato again.
"Duly noted. Don't get between those three and food." The musing came out before Val realized she was speaking. She had the decency to look embarrassed but also grateful that the punkish girl didn't seem to notice. She glanced breifly around the kitchen and then back to Effie, "Though I imagine feeding so many of us has to be hard to regulate? There's no way they can keep track of the calorie intake."
This got a scoff out Kody as she tossed the peeled starch and picked up another on. "That's way Luke here can get away with it. Though everyone knows its cause he won't survive the winter with skin and bones like him~"

Luke laughed a bit at her reaction, leaning against the counter once more and listening to the girls talk. It was nice with everyone talking and joking around, with seeing the same people every single day, people started getting bored of one another. So having a new girl come in, well, it was a nice change of pace.
"Yup, you might loose a finger," Vivian replied with a small giggle, smoothing her dress down and looking up when Valarie spoke again,"Not really, no. Everyone eats the same thing after all and one of the nurses is a nutritionist so it's actually pretty easy for them to keep count of how much each person gets."
"I'm not that skinny you know...I still have some meat on my bones," Luke replied, sticking his tongue out at the girl next to him.
Vivian rolled her eyes at them before motioning to Valarie.
"Come on, we've been in here long enough. I want to show you the whole house so you can get yourself unpacked before dinner gets started," she said, motioning for her to follow and then starting to lead her through the house again.

Val chuckled a little to herself and then nodded her agreement to Vivian. "That sounds like a good idea. I am not sure I wanna be around to witness the outcome of this." She waved to the other two and followed the tiny blonde girl out of the room.
Dakota glanced to them as they left before returning her focus to the potatoes, "It's a good thing they paired that Snowflake up with the princess. I doubt she would be able to handle anyone else around here. So any idea what she got labeled as? Depression, Bi-polar?"

"Smart," Vivian said with a chuckle as she lead her through the rooms. As they made their way through the house, she pointed out what room was what, explained what they typically did in in as well. She showed her the backyard, making sure to let her know that it was locked at all times and, if she wanted to go out, she needed to go get a nurse to undo the code.
It was when they got into the entertainment room that they say another person in there, one that Vivian was pretty happy to see. She smiled bright when she saw Kelly in there reading a book and she came closer.
"Hey Kelly, hope I'm not interrupting, but I wanted to introduce you to Valarie. She's my new roommate," she introduced her to her friend. It was pretty clear just from her slight change in body language and speech that she probably had a crush on the boy.

Val had to admit things were starting to get a little more strange around here. If the yard was fenced in, why did the door need to be locked? What if there was a fire or something? Alright that was a little extreme, but still concerning. She just had to hope that the nurses weren't super strict on unlocking the door. If she couldn't spend her time watching movies then she would like to stretch her legs as much as she could.
Lounging sideways in an armchair, Kel didn't noticed the girls until Vivian spoke up. He had an unmarked book in one hand and was playing with a deck of cards idly in the other. His dark eyes raised from the book to find the two. There was the smallest spark of irritation in them, even though he put on a winning smile, "Vivian I am pretty sure at this point that you know I don't want to be called that." He nodded briefly to Valerie, "I much prefer Kel. Welcome to Lyle house." Depending on how much Effie had payed attention to Kel during their time here, she would notice that this was his polite but fake way of dealing with strangers.
His words seemed measured and controlled to Val, like he was testing something. Despite the oddity he seemed friendly enough and she returned the nod, "Ah Thank you. I shorten my name too, most folk just call m Val."
My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.
All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don't even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost - and the ghost saw me.
Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won't leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a "special home" for troubled teens. Yet the home isn't what it seems. Don't tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? It's up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House... before its skeletons come back to haunt me.
