Hi Phrynne, interesting to read your review of Kraken by China Mieville. I started to read Perdido Street Station about 10 years ago, but found it just too dense and challenging, so I abandoned it. Certainly Mieville is worth reading. Did you find the language of Kraken accessible, or was it a difficult read?

Perdido Street Station is my favourite book of his so far. I actually gave it five stars. I don't think Kraken would be any easier to read. It is rather weird and China Miéville uses a lot of made up words which I like but which can be off putting. I think I just like his kind of weird:)

The bad news: none of those books were part of my spring reading challenge, so I'm badly behind! I've only read 5 of the 15:
Dead Famous by Ben Elton (reviewed here);
Hello From the Gillespies by Monica McInerney (reviewed here);
Libriomancer by Jim C. Hines (reviewed here);
Broken Homes by Ben Aaronovitch (reviewed here); and
Parasite by Mira Grant (reviewed here).
Don't think I'll be able to get through the other ten by the end of the month! Where did Spring go??

Kathryn wrote: "My challenge has stalled! I think this happened last time as well! Hopefully I'll get through at least a couple while I'm at the beach..."
You'll manage Kathryn:) Reading at the beach is GOOD!!
