Yeah, I think studying a book for two terms just sucks what joy the book held until there is nothing left. That may be a little melodramatic. :-)

I hate it that some really good books get spoiled for you by being studied to death at school!

I think All Quiet on the Western Front was on our Y11 recommended reading list but I don't remember it at all so will try it again if I can't get into the non-fiction book.

It seems the storyline has been burnt into my brain from studying it, but I shall not spoil it. :-)

You can't take away from the fact that it is a fantastic story though ;) There was also a very good movie made of it called "Joyeux Noel."

That's so cool you get to meet Helen Brown. I loved her first book Cleo, even though I couldn't stop crying at the end and have After Cleo on my bookshelf at home to read as well.
Hubby bought them for me as we have a tortoiseshell girl named Cleo :-)

Really Heather? An author with a Wattle surname?? If you have found one of those, you can most certainly use it!! The criteria says: Choose a book with "Wattle" in the title or on the cover.. so most definitely covers it!! I'd love to know what it is:)
