Her thoughts were interrupted by a vibration in her pocket. It was her mother calling. "Hello? Oh, y'all are outside? Okay see you soon!" Shortly after she hung up with her mother, her bags came around the belt and she grabbed them. Faith rolled her luggage out of the airport and smiled at her parents as they got out of the car.
"Honey!! I'm so happy you're home baby." Her father said as he ran over to help her with her bags. He hugged her quickly and started loading the trunk. "Baby girl! Look at you. I missed your purple hair." Faith's mother joked. Her hair had been her signature thing since high school. It'd be weird if her hair was any other color at this point.
"Aw! I missed y'all I really did. I just had to focus on work. You know when I first moved to South Carolina I was flying home so much." Faith said as her mother let go of her. She wasn't lying. After graduation her parents helped her move to Charleston. The first few years of her being there were scary and lonely. So she flew home often. But the past two years had been super productive work wise for Faith so she just zoned in on interior design and didn't focus on her family as much. She also avoided coming home because of her ex. Her one true love, Lennared. Not knowing that he two had moved away. She had a feeling she was going to bump into him at least once while she was back.

Lennard couldn't help but think of Faith she was his first and only girlfriend. Their break up was very messy and that scared him to see her again and open up old wounds. He knew the chances of seeing her again were very likely because they lived in the same neighborhood. Lennard prepared himself for any situation that required him to talk to his ex-girlfriend again or her family. This morning Lennard was walking towards the grocery store with Rose at his side wearing her therapy dog vest and his sister following behind them. He walked inside with her before he walked over to the sections that he needed to go too. His mom basically put him to work for dinner because she wanted him to help with every dinner up until Christmas.
It was exciting for Lennard because when he was younger and growing up he was a wreck in the kitchen. He was terrified of a stove and a knife and fire. But now he didn't hesitate to turn on his stove or oven and start to cook or bake whatever recipes his mom left out for him to make. His sister also requested for his specialty tomato soup which he knew would help her during her recovery. Lennard didn't know why she would want to come to the store with him she was recovering after surgery. But she claimed the cold wintery feel would help her, but he honestly thought she was thinking he would mess up with getting the right groceries on his list. Lennard started searching for the groceries with Rose at his side and his sister Bella pushing the cart behind them. He started to pile everything inside the cart when his sister tapped his shoulder.
He turned to her and looked at her as she signed to him while she spoke. "Do you think you will see Faith?" He was shocked that she even asked him that. He sighed softly and put the broccoli into the cart before he looked at her and signed his answer. "If God wants us to reconnect again then we will. But I'm not sure." He answered her. Bella nodded her head she was happy when Lennard was with Faith. Faith was always there when Lennard needed her during the times that their stepfather Jon was beating their mom. But Jon was now luckily in jail and serving a sentence right now but Lennard and Bella hoped that their mom and Jon would get a divorce but that hasn't happened just yet. Lennard continued to get the groceries as Bella followed him. Soon they were finished and paid before they carried the groceries home. Lennard smiled at Rose who was smiling softly his dog loved New York more than Las Vegas which was a shock to him at times.

"Aw, twins I missed you so much!" Faith said kissing their foreheads. "Ugh, gross get off me!" Lane said breaking the group hug and putting her arm on their mother's shoulder. "Guys, let Faith get settled. She hasn't been home in so long. We don't want to scare her away again." Owen said as he started to unload the car. "Now, Levi help me with your sisters bags." Faith laughed and Lane grabbed her hand and led her inside.
"Girl hold on geez." Faith said as she being pulled like a rug doll. "Come on slow poke." Lane said looking back at Faith for a second before she kept running. Lane took Faith up to her room and closed her door. Faith tried to caught her breath she couldn't help to notice her little sisters room haven't change alot either. She just didn't have any dolls laying room any more. She smiled and then her eyes met with Lane's. Who was already sitting on her bed. "Why you pulled me in here?" Faith asked as she sat on the floor chris-cross applesauce style. "I want to know are you going to talk to him? I mean you know he is here.. So when are you two going to get back together." Lane said. Lane and everyone in Faith's family liked Lennared. They were probably more hurt when the two broke up then Faith and Lennared were. Faith rolled her eyes at her questions. Lane got on the floor with her sister and nodged her before she spoke. "Literally Faith you are home for a month, you need to try to reconnect with him. It's been a while since your breakup." Faith sighed and thought to herself. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but she also doubted she was on his mind. "Look I am here for y'all I am not chasing after him anymore. I did enough of that before." She said, Faith got up and sighed before she looked down at Lane. "Come one.. Lets make some cookies" once Faith said that Lane jumped up and thry both headed out her room down the stairs.

Lennard was terrified of going to church right now because it was the same church that Faith's family went too and he didn't want to really cause pain in Mass. "I'll make use some lunch." He said to his mom. She nodded her head while he left her room and went back to the kitchen. He started to cook lunch for his family while he thought of Faith. Her house wasn't far from where he used to walk over to her house to see her every day. But now he never thought he would do that again he's a changed man. But his heart hasn't stopped telling him to think of Faith and love her.
Lennard shook his head and started to clean and chop vegetables for the beef stew that he was making. Lennard went into the moment as he cooked the stew he didn't look at a recipe and he didn't need to look at the time. He always cooked this recipe by heart and he knew that if he messed it up he would be really distracted but today he wasn't distracted he was cooking smoothly and in about an hour after getting home the house smelled like a thick roast beef stew with fresh carrots, celery, and potatoes. Lennard served the stew into three bowls as he set the table and made sure everything was okay for his mom and sister. He got his sister's medication for her to take before he got his own medication to take before he fed Rose as well. Soon they were all sitting at the dining room table and eating together.

Sophia rolled her eyes when she saw his hand on Faith's knee and she leaned over the passenger seat to hug her shoulders. "I've missed my sister too! I can't believe you've spent four years away from home girl. Be honest. Do you really like it down there?" Sophia questioned as she fell back in her seat. Ruth turned down the SZA he had been blasting from his stereo to listen to Faith's response.
"I mean, I love the beaches and the people are so nice. Southern hospitality is a real thing. But the dating game out there is so whack! Everyone is already married, in college, or creepy." Faith sighed and looked out the window at the passing New York sky scrapers. "Sometimes I miss the mystery that comes with the city. I love the peacefulness of the South, don't get me wrong...but sometimes I miss being waken up by sirens or loud music from a bumping party." Faith was being honest. She had a few coworker friends from her design company, and they were sweet. But they were very family oriented. Not to say that Faith wasn't, but the only person she ever imagined building that kind of relationship with was with Lennared. And they don't even talk.
"Yeah I feel that. I mean you could always come home. You could move in with Sophia and I could visit y'all all the time. There are tons of opportunities in New York for interior design Faith." Ruth said over SZA's lyrics. He glanced over at her with his puppy dogs eyes, begging her to consider moving back to the city. "He's not wrong at all Faith. You flourished all your life here just to graduate from college and start over in the South. The beach is great yeah, but we have The Hamptons hoe. With your paycheck we could all be living in a lavish condo out there." Sophia laughed.
Faith knew that her friends were right. She really did miss home. Being around her parents and the twins made her heart hurt inside. She felt wrong for leaving them, but in actuality she left to escape Lennared. They all knew it. "We'll see. Let me figure these next couple of weeks out and get through Christmas and then I'll think about it." She said as the pulled into the parking lot of Target.
"If you're worried about Lennared, you know I'll fight him if he tries to hurt you again." Ruth joked as he put is Ranger Rover in park. Sophia fell over in the backseat laughing. "Who are you going to fight? You realize Lennared isn't scary like you are. This man stays strapped." Sophia joked. Faith covered her mouth with her freshly manicured hand trying not to make Ruth feel bad. Through broken giggles she agreed, "Ruth, you know I love you. But you fighting Lennared is a death sentence boo." She kissed his cheek and got out of the car. "Whatever man!" Ruth said slamming his car door and taking both their hands as they walked towards the entrance. "I can protect y'all. You ain't ever complained about me being weak before. Stop laughing so we can get these presents and go back to my crib." The girls let him lead the way and they laughed.

Lennard finished cleaning the kitchen before he checked on his prescriptions. He did need to pick up a new prescription at the Target Pharmacy. Lennard watched his mom and sister go to church, his mom left him the car keys. He brought Rose to the car before he got inside with her. He started the car before he drove to the local target pharmacy. He was also going to get Rose a new toy since he stupidly forgot to pack one on the trip.
He parked in front before he helped Rose jump out of the car. He walked inside with her to the target. He chuckled seeing Rose sniff around he walked with her to the pharmacy. Lennard never really thought that he was going to possibly run into Faith so fast. But he did thought he saw her when he walked inside but he hid his face. Lennard felt tenser while in the store it wasn't that he didn't feel safe. It was like he felt more anxious especially since he hasn't lived in New York for so long.
Lennard waited in line as Rose looked up at him. She could tell he was becoming more anxious by the minute. Lennard smiled softly and moved his hand down to pet her gently. Lennard checked his phone when he was called over he walked over and gave them pharmacist his information about his car. He filled out the paper works before he sat down at the bench to wait for his prescription. Lennard glanced up and he did see Faith with Ruth and Sophia. He looked away worried to be seen again he took a deep breath while Rose stayed at his side.

Soon Faith was parked outside Lennard's place. She got the car and walked to the door, she took a deep breath as she felt her nervous start to kick in and she didn't want to burst into tears soon she saw him. So she relaxed before she finally knocked on the door.

They were alone Bella and his mom was out and Rose was laying on the couch. Lennard wanted to ask why she was there but he had a feeling he knew why. Bella had told him she did something he could have never done. "Would you like anything to eat or drink?" he asked her. He was cooking breakfast when she came he had finished making a breakfast quiche.
He pulled out a chair for her so she could sit down. He moved his anxiety and PTSD pills away from her so she hopefully wouldn't see them. He sat down in front of her when he set down some water for both of them. "Bella dropped off the poems to you didn't she?" He asked Faith. He had no idea that Faith saw the ring he only saw the poems were missing. "I owe you an explanation," He sighed. "What do you want to know?" He asked her. He wanted to tell her exactly what she wanted he didn't want to give her any bull shit. Faith didn't deserve that at all.
