That's not what the prompt means. The story of the book should take place during one day, like in Ulysses, and most people won't read that in one day.

Cassandra White | 21 comments I'm really enjoying Victor Boone Will Save Us. It's a non-typical superhero who is not sure what to do with his powers.

Yeah sorry had a brain fart and didn't read it properly.

Rachelle Renee Kirby (rachellereneekirby) | 29 comments Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies by Lindsay Ribar I don't have an interest in reading it again so soon, but it was really good and may interest someone else for this one... Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies

Bethany (crankycupcake) | 2 comments The only book I can think of that I’ve read is Graceling!

message 160: by Panda (new)

Panda McAllister (silvereyedpanda) | 10 comments A little less conventional of a super power, but I am reading The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake for this one.

The sequels are very good as well!

I think since the project began by the hobby of collecting old photos it counts.

Courtney Blocher | 64 comments I'm going with City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I started this series a long time ago and never finished, now seems like a good time to start over. :)

Marina | 6 comments Would The Rules of Magic work for this prompt? thanks!!

message 166: by Susan (new)

Susan (yetanothersusan) | 47 comments Circe?? Is it magic or a superpower? Is magic a superpower?

message 167: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Robinson | 19 comments The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard is good a good series. There are multiple characters with superpowers.

Graceann (silentsgirl) | 11 comments Traci wrote: "Thanks all. I guess I'll just read it and see and find a new book if it's too much of a stretch."

I've come to the same conclusion. I already own it, I've been itching to read it, and it's a power I wish I had (which makes it super), so I'm in.

message 170: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 3 comments I'm thinking about One Dark Throne for this one!

I also throw my support behind this title. I read it for this prompt. It is fascinating.

message 173: by Tash (new)

Tash (tashage) | 3 comments Do you think Perfume by Patrick Susskind would work for this? Does the protagonist's heightened sense of smell go far enough to qualify as a super power?

message 176: by Soph ♡ (new)

Soph ♡ | 130 comments Trying to make use of some of the books I have on my shelf. I've been reading too much on my kindle lately. I'm just wondering would it be possible to fit either of these two books into this prompt ?

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

I've already got "a book featuring an extinct or imaginary creature" covered. If they don't fit in here, is there any other prompt they could be used for?

I really liked Neverwhere, it's such a clever book, but it doesn't fit very well into any other categories other than "imaginary creature" or "meant to read in 2028" or "past category" (there's ALWAYS a past category!)

There are a variety of supernatural individuals (including an angel) so I suppose you could say they have superpowers.

Richard Mayhew is an average guy who falls into this big mess by accident, Door's family has been murdered and he helps her, so I suppose you could call him an amateur detective.

Also, he helps solve the mystery of who is pursuing her, so I suppose you could say it's about a puzzle.

It all depends on how comfortable you are stretching the prompts a bit.

Ahhh Neverwhere was also Gaiman's first full length novel that he wrote by himself! So ... SORT of a debut novel? If you exclude Sandman, other comics, and short stories.

I found the exact same information when I googled Gaiman's debut novel. I wasn't sure whether to include it because it wasn't his first. I'm sure I will find somewhere else to fit him in :)

message 180: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (fourmoonreviews) | 13 comments For this prompt I'm reading Ms. Marvel, Vol. 2: Generation Why. The first book Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal works for this prompt also, but can also be used for the "own voices" prompt.

Samantha Jo (samanthajo18) | 5 comments would Cinder work for this?
Cinder

message 182: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 9709 comments Mod
Cinder is a cyborg, so she's stronger than a regular human, and can access computer systems, but I wouldn't say she has superpowers.

Georgina (georginaelizabeth) | 1 comments Would Uprooted by Naomi Novik work for this prompt?

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments Georgina wrote: "Would Uprooted by Naomi Novik work for this prompt?"

There's magic in Uprooted but I can't remember it being like a superpower. (view spoiler)

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments Does anyone know if there are any superpowers in Fallout? I know Lois Lane is in it but not sure about her buddy, Clark :D

message 187: by Allie (new)

Allie | 56 comments I just finished Trail of Lightning (which was FANTASTIC btw) and I definitely think it can fulfill this prompt. The main character has clan powers that she can call upon, which I definitely think counts as a superpower. I actually read this one to check off 41. A "cli-fi" (climate fiction) book from the advanced challenge, but there is a sequel coming out early April that I am going to use for this prompt too since the characters are all the same (sequel is Storm of Locusts for anyone interested).

message 188: by Megan (new)

Megan (oreodont) | 56 comments I'd recommend Zeroes for this. The main characters have superpowers that are hard to live with.

message 189: by Tania (new)

Tania | 678 comments Another vote for Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo here, it was incredible.

message 190: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia Smith | 57 comments Would THE SHINING work for this.

message 191: by Fannie (new)

Fannie D'Ascola | 438 comments Not sure for The Shining. He is possessed by the hotel, but maybe it could work also.

I have The Goose Girl on my kobo and wonder if it could work.

message 192: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 15 comments I am currently reading NOS4A2 by joe hill where the main character has a bridge that only shows up when she is riding her Raleigh bike.

Shannon | 552 comments Fannie wrote: "Not sure for The Shining. He is possessed by the hotel, but maybe it could work also.

The Goose Girl is my go-to when I have to choose a favorite book--I highly recommend it. And I totally think it counts for this! They talk about her ability to talk to geese as if it were a magical ability, so very much like a superpower.

message 194: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 8 comments Just finished reading Children of Blood and Bone, which definitely fulfils the criteria of a superpower - if magic is a superpower.

message 195: by Amy (new)

Amy Gaskins | 10 comments It may a bit of a stretch, but I chose Eloquent Rage: A Black Feminist Discovers Her Superpower and am glad I did!

message 196: by Casey (new)

Casey Archer | 10 comments Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson was AMAZING. I have to be strong-armed into reading fantasy, but I’m so happy one of my friends persistently bothered me to start this series. I can’t wait to read the next 6.

message 197: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 1 comments Can anyone recommend a mystery novel that has someone with a superpower?

Stacy wrote: "Can anyone recommend a mystery novel that has someone with a superpower?"

"superpower" is such a nebulous term, it can easy encompass supernatural and paranormal novels, right? so that really opens things up for you. I haven't read all of these, so you'll have to do a little research to make sure there is a superpower involved, and maybe some other readers can jump in to say if I'm right or wrong:
Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris (series)
Storm Front by Jim Butcher (series)
Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch (series)
Chew, Vol. 1: Taster's Choice written by John Layman (graphic novel series)
Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes
Zoo City by Lauren Beukes

The Rivers of London series definitely has superpowers. I can't speak to any of the others. I was going to read a comic for this, but now the idea is in my head that I can read the next Rivers of London book.
