I read the first and I think it wasn't actually that bad, it was ok, but then like Hailee I waited too long to continue and lost interest. Especially as I heared book 2 has even more stupid YA tropes...

EDIT: Argh! I was too slow!
Haha I had a feeling people would do this.
There is method behind the madness. Don't know how many I'll need so it's better to overestimate and then delete a few than need more than I initially thought. Clever yes?? Or its OCD maybe but I prefer to think of it as clever ;-)

Thanks Jenna. I have a feeling I'll need it, my self control on starting new series is especially poor!

Yes I liked Snow Like Ashes well enough when I read it but when I think back on it now it doesn't really inspire any fond memories in me and I just don't care enough to continue. I think I'll bite the bullet and donate book 2 to a charity shop so that I can stop feeling guilty and just add it to my abandoned list.

Oh yes I had forgot about that! No worries I'll add it to the list of series I am allowed to start. Whatever I add to that list up to December 31st is allowed :-)

This is by far the best section title I have seen. Good luck with your list Hailee.

Well that doesn't sound good. Yep like Anni said it has been too long now for me to care about continuing. I need to dump book 2 somewhere asap and then I can just forget about the series completely.
I'll probably just look up some spoilers online so that I can at least know what happened. I did the same thing when I decided not to bother reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and reading those spoilers confirmed I had totally made the right decision (no offense to anyone who likes Cursed Child)

Thanks Bill. I added this section because I wanted to separate the series where I knew it didn't matter if I didn't remember details of what went on in previous books. Not something you can say for series like Malazan for instance 😂

I don't know if this might help but just in case: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Well I had really decided that a DNF was definitely in order but your review definitely helped me feel less bothered about it. The first paragraph especially was absolutely hilarious. Brilliant, thanks for the laugh.

And thanks for accepting the friend request. To be honest I thought we already were but I think there are a few people in this group that because I talk to them in the threads I just presume we already are.

Now, onto the better books. :)

So far this month I have read The Order of the Scales the third book out of seven in the Memory of Flames series.
I have also read In the Arms of Mr. Darcy the fourth book out of seven in the Darcy Saga. I have now abandoned this series.

Series I made progress on:
I read book 3 of 7 in The Memory of Flames series by reading The Order of the Scales.
I read book 2 of 3 in the Erebus Sequence by reading The Boy Who Wept Blood.
I read book 3 of 14 in The Wheel of Time series by reading The Dragon Reborn.
Series I abandoned:
I read In the Arms of Mr. Darcy which was book 4 out of 7.

Not too much progress made this month:
Series I made progress on:
I read book 3 of 4 in The Greatcoats series by reading Saint's Blood.
Series I started:
I read A Curse So Dark and Lonely which was book 1 of 2. Not 100% sure I'll read book 2 yet but it doesn't come out until Jan 2020 so I'll decide nearer the time.

Thanks. Yes by the end of March I should have two more series completely finished which will feel good 😄

I know that feeling 😂

I read the third and final book in the Draconis Memoria trilogy: The Empire of Ashes
I also got 3/4 of the way through Tyrant's Throne but I'll include that officially in April's wrap up.

Omg!! I love Tyrant’s Throne, well the whole series.
I need to read the Anthony Ryan trilogy!!

At the very least though I want to finish the following books from my pre-2019 series:
Wrath
The Girl on the Liar's Throne
If I do this I will have finished/be up to date with two more series
Books mentioned in this topic
The Gilded Wolves (other topics)Wrath (other topics)
The Girl on the Liar's Throne (other topics)
A Game of Thrones (other topics)
The Warrior Heir (other topics)
I am determined to make progress on this goal in 2019 and in order to achieve this I have added a goal to limit the series I can start until at least July. The list of series I will allow myself to start is in message 7 and once December 31st hits I am not allowed to add to it. Series with only one book out do not count since I will be able to count those as up to date as soon as I have read it.
At the beginning of 2019 I have nine priority series to complete and 3 I want to make progress on (i.e. they are too big to finish in one year).
