Aah, thank you so much, Faith! It helps that the challenges already existed on my book blog. I already had some time to tweak them and then decided it was time to share them with more people, haha.

Going to bed seeing that this group is at almost 400!! Congrats on growing so fast!!
Thanks, Becky!
On another note.. I'm almost off work - always work only half a day on Thursdays and I'm planning the most RELAXING afternoon ever. Pregnant me needs some me-time, haha.
~ Take a long shower in candlelight.
~ Watch a Christmas-movie on Netflix with some hot chocolate.
~ Read - and hopefully finish - The Girl King.
~ Maybe play some Pokémon?
Anyone have other relaxing ideas for my afternoon off? :D

I've been meaning to watch that new Christmas Chronicles movie on Netflix or whatever it is called. It seems like a good holiday movie.
I had to get up early (unusual for me) and go run errands, buuuut I got some super soft new Christmas socks, a new thermos so I can finally actually keep my tea hot for more than 5 minutes, and a few graphic novels from the library, so I'm calling today a success. 😂

I'm probably gonna finish up Detroit: Become Human before work! It's almost the weekend, my friends, I'm so excited to relax.
@Kathy-Books & Munches we watched The Santa Chronicles (on Netflix) when my parents were visiting last weekend and loved it! Even my husband who isn't usually a Christmas movie fan.

Crazy thing!! My favourite numbers (and the ones I always use in nicknames) are 19 and 23.
And I recently just realized that in 2019 I will turn 23. So I decided that this is going to be my year and that I will fight to do everything I have paused in my life. I was scared on doing some things and now I really want to do these things.
So I made a list with 23 resolutions! I can't wait for the year to start!
I started The Santa Chronicles but I was in the mood for something more cozy so ended up watching another one, haha! OOPS. I'll definitely continue watching it this weekend though! :D
OOH. 2019 RESOLUTIONS.
Who's got them? SHARE THEM. I'm curious!
@Dana - that's an amazing attitude to have towards the new year! 2019 will be the year I simply let.. everything happen, haha. It'll be plenty eventful without me trying to reach more goals. :P

I've been reading a few Christmas books this month and a couple of my favorites are Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffmann and Merry Inkmas by Talia Hibbert. I'm not really sure what you are into reading but these have been my favorites so far.

Late-a-thon! :D Haha! I'm combining my Late-a-thon readathon with this January Jam Jar challenge to work through some of my overdue ARCs.

I haven't heard of Late-a-thon I should look into that one.

I'm hosting it on my blog! :) I'll have a big post going up about it next week if you want to keep an eye out.

It's a readathon I'm hosting through all of January where people commit to reading as many of their overdue review copies as they can. If you don't have any overdue review copies, you could also focus on reading books you meant to read recently and haven't gotten around to. It combines really well with the January group theme because you can make a jar of your overdue books. :)

@destiny[howling libraries] ahh ok thank you : D
I'm TRYING to get my January Jar together but it's the worst with most of my books packed and.. being pretty limited in a way? [Okay, not really. Plenty of books unpacked but for some reason the ones I want to put in my jar are packed and UGH.]
Haha, well - the benefit up being able to edit your TBR still! I don't really plan ahead all that much. Doing my TBR a week or two in advance is plenty.
Oh, that's definitely an option! You could also check if there's any historical fiction that fits fantasy for February or maybe horror/thriller for March and things like that. :)

All that to say that this is going to be a real challenge (ha!) for me. Suggestions on how to balance this with the book review requests I have/get?
Hm. Maybe you can make two jars - one with the "urgent review requests" and one with all others? That way you still have some control over how many "urgent" review copies you read?

I like that, especially as sometimes I just want a break to read some of those popular books I've owned forever. Doing something like that would let me go back and forth between the two without letting my guilt berate me constantly. Good news is, I'm kind of doing that for the Jan Jam Jar! So yay!

You're very welcome! :D
I can't WAIT to see how the first challenge will go for everyone, haha. :D

For Christmas I got Magic Misfits: The Second Story, The One And Only Ivan, Wishtree, The Storm Runner, a book t-shirt, a Harry Potter mystery wand with matching 3D bookmark and a couple book stands(to display books on). What about you?

The other book is Among Us by Kristina Rienzi and I am only halfway through it so we will see if I actually get that one finished.

But that's the thing, some of the things I have planned or want to do require that I do stuff purely for me and my writing vs. reading for others. So I'm really going to have to sit down and figure out what's a thing I have to do, I should do, and I want to do, and remove all that guilt I have about not reading all the book review requests so I can read things I want, or need to, for research purposes. Which is hard. I'm plagued with guilt. Halp.
Anyone else hate/struggling with this kind of thing? What works for you guys? How do you figure out your goals/resolutions? Why do I fail so hard (well, don't answer that one...)

It has started by now! WHIIIIIIIII!
Not that I read anything from my jar yet - I suck - but whatever.
@Chelscey
Hah, even though I don't write, I do know the struggle of my own books vs review copies. I try switching between the two as much as I can. Makes me feel less guilty about reading my own books since I know I'll be reading a review copy next and vice versa.
[Also, like.. We still read FOR FUN which we should never, ever forget. Reading review copies shouldn't feel obligatory. It's not like we're getting paid for reading them and.. as long as we read and review them eventually?]

That's what I keep telling myself. I will read and review the the book - eventually. I've gotten better about reading a review copy and then something I like/own, so I think I just need to be better about that trade off. Because you're right: reading should never feel like homework! Unless it is homework, I suppose... ;)
