Question for those planning to participate in reading this series. I found this statement in the series group listing:
from the author’s website - “There are three books in the Infernal Devices series: Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess. The Infernal Devices are often called a prequel series to the Mortal Instruments, but only because they take place in an earlier time period and contain some of the Mortal Instruments' characters' ancestors. You don't have to read the Mortal Instruments before The Infernal Devices. You don't have to read the The Infernal Devices before The Mortal Instruments. You can read them in any order."
Should we start by first reading The Infernal Device series, which is 3 books?

When in doubt I usually go with the publication order so I don't have to think too much about it, but I'm fine with whichever order you choose :)

In all the research I did this morning, The Infernal Devices series is clearly defined as a prequel series, even though it was written three books in. My experience with other series where this has happened is that the author felt a need to provide background. Whether that enhances the reading experience before or after is what’s in question. However, it feels like it may be a bit disruptive to the reading experience to insert the prequel into the middle of the later series.

I stand corrected, Giulia! I should have known better🙄
Please see the discussion in the topic I opened for the two series.
