Hi everyone,

It's already November 25! Where has the time gone? As this month draws to a close I'd like to ask some final questions and share some last thoughts about the book. One of the chapters that was most meaningful for me was the concluding chapter, “Ordinary Time”. I found it profound in terms of Kate Bowler’s insights about her faith and living with uncertainty in her own life, and also in terms of what her insights about life and death may teach all of us. Was there anything about this book, perhaps a specific chapter or passage, which made an impression on you? Did this book change your perspective in any way?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Jules (missblythe) I was impacted by Kate mentioning how the kindness, prayers and good wishes of her friends and family made such a difference to her during her struggle with cancer. It makes me think of how many lonely people there are in the world and how when they face a health crisis who is there to help them? There are some volunteer organizations which get involved in those situations, but I think it's important for us to be aware of the level of loneliness experienced in our communities. I think it also reflects on Kate's personality that she was so open about her suffering and willing to let her friends share that experience instead of trying to protect them from seeing her going though a negative time.

I agree with you, Jules, the support of her friends and family was remarkable, but there are many people out there who don't have a support system. I was also impressed by her openness with friends, family, and the public (through her writing), and by her sense of humour. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
