Jenn | 27 comments Does anyone else have one publishers who keeps refusing them? I almost never get Hodder & Stoughten books, even though I met all their criteria! Is it just me?

message 2: by Annie (new)

Annie (bionerdannie) | 17 comments I never get accepted for Less Than Three press books. I've pretty much stopped requesting them. =/

I've only requested a couple Hodder & Stoughton books and am at 50% for them.

I don't really find that there's much logic behind my acceptance rate. With almost 500 reviews in the bag, I still get rejected at about the same rate as when I first started.

Who knows?

Devann (devannm) | 15 comments i wonder why LT3 doesn't accept you, they accepted me back when i first started and didn't have a lot of reviews posted so i figured they approved pretty much everyone ...

i never get approved by tor but i always request from them anyway because hey maybe one day i will finally be cool enough or they will just magically change their minds ;)

Jennifer Oslowski | 19 comments Penguin Group/Penguin Random House/Berkley - refuse me all the time.

Jenn | 27 comments Not just me then! That's good to know, thanks. I'll try not to let it get me down.

Devann (devannm) | 15 comments oh yeah, penguin books not only don't approve anyone, but they also don't deny you so your requests just pend for like a year until they finally go away lol

Jennifer Oslowski | 19 comments Actually, I'm shocked, I wasn't approved for Never Tell by Lisa Gardner/Penguin BUT I received an email from someone telling me they are only holding copies currently for journalists but if I wanted a copy of the book closer to publication for review purposes to let her know and she would if she was able. Wow!

Hands-down, the most annoying behavior. And, yes, Penguin distinguishes itself with this.

Not to annoy you, but they also auto-approve some folks, as you can see from the auto-approved thread either in this or the other NG user group. Knowing that makes me even crankier about them ignoring most of us.

Angela (arose) Just seen these last few comments about the Penguin Group - really surprised as I have been approved from time to time. I'm nothing special, don't review very many (taken me 4 years or so to review 50 books) I have a blog but that's all. I have 2 on my shelf approved at the moment. :/

Bridget (midge1) | 10 comments I can't believe it! I've just been approved for a book from the Penguin Group/Penguin Random House! This is my third Penguin approval.

Yay!!! Well done. Don't blow it by not reviewing for 6 months or you'll never get approved again!

Dorie - Cats&Books :) (dorie--catsbooks) | 427 comments From personal experience I think that the longer you are reviewing and the more the publishers get to know you, obviously the more you will get approved. Keep that feedback ratio high and you will find it's makes a big difference. At least it did for me. Penguin Random House is huge with many divisions, so if one division doesn't approve you for a book, that doesn't mean that another division might approve you right away. different divisions, different marketing and publicists. Just thought I'd add my experience, hope it may help :)

This has been my experience- most of their divisions won't approve me but Ballantine randomly will. Sometimes I wait to request until almost release day too. I think if they have more copies than requests they give me a pity one once in a while. lol.
