Louise | 491 comments Nice to see people here from all over the world. Gee, I sure wish I lived closer to Singapore so I could join your society :-).

Anna | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm Anna from Athens, GR. Fell in love with NYRB a couple of years ago after randomly picking up Hav by Jan Morris. I love how well put together these books are, translations, intros, excellent covers, what can I say, smitten.

Getting my hands on the books is tricky in Greece unless I order them online, and since timing can be an issue I won't be joining in for the monthly reads but looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading and hopefully discovering some new gems :)

Louise | 491 comments Welcome Anne. Hopefully you'll be able to take part in some of the book club discussions (perhaps the shorter books?). You will get a 6 week lead time between the announcement of the book and the start of the discussion.

WndyJW | 382 comments We are an international group! Australia, Canada Denmark, England, Greece, Singapore, and the USA, am I missing anyone? This speaks to the universal appeal of the nyrb books.

I hope you’re able to get books, Anna. Have you checked into The Book Depository for new books or www.abebooks.com for used copies? I don’t know if shipping to Greece is more difficult than anywhere else.

Oh yes, I use bookdepository a lot actually, it's just too slow so coordinating might be difficult :)
There are a couple of great indie bookstores in my neighborhood that stock some NYRB titles but it's not a huge selection unfortunately.

WndyJW | 382 comments We need to work out this problem for members having a hard time getting nyrb books.
Is it possible to plan our group reads for the next 12 months so everyone has plenty of time to get books? We can tweak the monthly reads as we go if necessary, but I don’t want members who are eager to participate to be left out.
Maybe the members who have a hard time getting the books can list the books they currently have and we can choose from those lists for the first couple of months then start reading books that have time to make it to everyone.

sisilia (sisilia9) | 53 comments Oh that’s a good idea. I do that for my IRL NYRB Classics bookclub. I set a list of books until June next year so that members have the time to acquire the books

Hi Teresa -- I used to live in South Orange, and I miss the area a great deal!
