SciFi and Fantasy Book Club discussion

My son enjoys reading the Sheel of Time series and The Wheel of Time series by Bernard Cornwall. Can anyone suggest other titles and/or authors that he might enjoy?

Are we talking about Bernard Cornwell and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series? Just trying to make sure you get the right recs!

Sorry, can you clarify which of Cornwell’s series you are referring to? I’m half assuming it’s The Last Kingdom/Saxon Stories because that show on Netflix is huge right now, but I know people love his Sharpe’s series also which I haven’t read yet.

Yes, that's correct. I am completely unfamiliar with that genre.

My son is 33 years old. I believe he has read the Game of Thrones series. The Last Kingdom is the series he mentioned.

O, *about* Cornwell, not by him. And he's an adult. You'll get rec's now I'm sure. :)

Robin Hobb and her Farseer series (there are several) would probably interest him

as would

Joe Abercrombie and his First Law series

I hate to just recommend a different series by the same author- but I read The Archer’s Tale by Bernard Cornwell a couple years ago and that was really good. Had a very similar feel to it as The Last Kingdom.

If it’s the Vikings he likes Giles Kristian is another author that comes highly recommended.

Thanks to all of you who replied. I decided to go with the first book in the Sigurd series by Kristian. It's so nice to have a place to go for advice where the people are so nice.
