Are Self-Published Authors Amazon’s Guinea Pigs?

Great article- that's exactly what happened to our sales. We were doing six figures until Amazon added the page reads. We went to half and then half again. Yes- we are the bait-click. We give them a marketing deal to sell KIndle- Look- buy Kindle and you have access to all these titles.
I also believe the big trad houses told Amazon that if they didn't make sure they got the lion share of profits they would stop advertising. (IMO)
I think 'zon threw indies under the bus.

Does Amazon use self-published authors as guinea pigs to test new ebook marketing ideas?
