Martha I like my ereader, as I don't have to worry about lack of bookshelf space, but I still buy actual books from time to time.

message 2: by Roni (new)

Roni Paperbacks are the best! I tried to read sever books on an e-reader and I could focus or retain what i was reading. Plus, i like to highlight and make little comments that I may want to share with my class.

message 3: by Alannah (new)

Alannah Hegarty I prefer paper back books or hard back books.

message 4: by Laura (new)

Laura I love real book (the feel and smell), but since getting my kindle I have read so much more. If I love a ebook I will then buy the real book.

message 5: by Jillian (new)

Jillian Paperbacks are my favorite but I do like the convenience of ebooks when traveling and reading in the dark

Victoria Scott | 1131 comments I'm getting a Kindle for Christmas, I'm so excited!! But real books feel... Safe, you know? You can cuddle up with them, and they smell nice!

message 7: by Sam (new)

Sam | 529 comments I love both! As I dont have space for paperbacks though I still buy them. Prices are better for eBooks but like most I love a new printed book as nothing better than cracking open a new spine for the first time. So I'm really stuck on the fence with this one :D

message 8: by Jasna (new)

Jasna Nickells prefer paper back but still find ebooks super useful

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahsshelfcare) I prefer paperback since you just can't beat that new book smell and sadly you just don't get that with an ebook. Tho saying that I always buy the ebook aswell as the paperback because it is so much easier to carry my kindle around with me, especially if you're reading a whopper of a book like George R.R. Martin's A Dance with Dragons (my copy didn't come in two parts =D) Also the e-readers come in handy if, for example, you are in a waiting room and the book you are currently reading is something along the lines of 50 Shades of Grey *cough* smut *cough* and you don't want people to see the title of your book :)

Mark Hebwood (mark_hebwood) I cant help myself but i love paperbacks! I would love to be able to love ebooks because it would mean that I am an adopter of new tech, that I am part of a generation that looks into the future, and does not feel threatened by change. But an ebook has no texture, i cannot scrawl into its margins, I cannot flick forwards and backwards with ease. Actually, more to the point, if I leave comments on a kindle, for example, they lose their individual colour, there are no compressed words as my writing closes in on the edge of the page, no mad scrawls when the plane fell into an airpocket, no weird arrows connecting disjointed parts of commentary. I love to read, and I love to write. I think ebooks still have to develop a bit more before i would use them.

That's very interesting, Laura. Nice.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Of the two? Paperbacks. Generally though, I prefer hardcovers.
