Sputnik Sweetheart question

For anyone who has read the book I was wondering, what did you think of the pacing of it. The book is more than halfway through when the climax begins to occur. Did it affect how long it took you to read? Did you like it more or less because of the pacing? What do you think of the author's writing style?
