Anni | 5066 comments I would like to try a different kind of Bingo to motivate myself and I asked all of you to choose books from my TBR for me to read, here's what you want me to read in 2019 😊

Haha, well that worked not at all incredibly well, but I will try again 2020. At least I don't have to update my chart that much... I replaced some of the choosen books with its sequels if there's one. I also added Wandering Inn, because the evil Leader-Duo made me add it to my to-read list and I picked 2 books from my TBR that have been there for far to long.
Now I have one spot left, I'm open for recommendations :)

Someone's cheating :) Putting books on your list you've already signed up for BRs (Spellslinger and Gardens of the Moon, I think)

I nominate Percepliquis... if you're that close to the end of Riyria Revelations, FINISH IT :D

Yay, I'm glad you like it! :) But you haven't picked a book from my list for me to read...

Haha, what? Cheating? Me? Noooo! 😂

But you're right it's about time for me to finish it! And here I thought you would pick St. Mary's...

Diana & Barry cooled my love for St. Mary's during my Buddy Re-read, with great points about the plotting of the series... they're still fun, but no rush...

I'm still harping on about how more people should try Agatha H and the Airship City (Girl Genius Novels, #1) by Phil Foglio Agatha H and the Clockwork Princess (Girl Genius Novels, #2) by Phil Foglio Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle (Girl Genius Novels, #3) by Phil Foglio tho... webcomic novelizations I remember to mention every couple months :) ... and then hurry off to see if there's news about the 4th book, yet... I think there will be about 8 books, once the comic series is finished... the 4th book should wrap up the first story arc, and the comics are halfway through the 2nd and possibly final story arc...

Sounds interesting, I will add it to my list. But it's a graphic novel isn't it?

No...

Agatha Heterodyne and the Beetleburg Clank is the graphic novel version...

Agatha H and the Airship City is the novelization, which adds a bit more to description/etc to what's available in comic form... each novel is ~3 volumes of comics, I think... the 3rd book ends around volume 10 of the comics, arc 1 ends at volume 13, and the ongoing webcomic is in the middle of volume 19 right now...

There are audiobooks available, and I loved them... the narrator has a great range of accents, since the children in the series are from all over Europe... https://www.audible.com/search?keywor...

I broke down and sent an email... hopefully I'll know more about plans for the 4th novel soon... finding it myself is hard since the name of the comics and novels are so similar...

message 14: by Narilka (new)

Narilka | 5704 comments I nominate Old Man's War. Such an interesting take on military scifi and pretty funny.

Are you planning to do a re-read of all of them, once you get to know when book 4 will get published? I have no idea if I will be able to read them then, but I would be interested :)

Anni | 5066 comments Narilka wrote: "I nominate Old Man's War. Such an interesting take on military scifi and pretty funny."

Thanks :) I don't read much Scifi, but it sounds really interesting!

I'd be up for it... we could do it at your pace... the first book is pretty short... the 2nd and 3rd are double the length on audio... if we get some graphic novel readers on board, I might even break down and continue past the novels into the comic storylines...

message 18: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2763 comments This is a cool idea Anni. I'm going to be really nice and pick a book that I already know you will be reading, coz I am a super nice person like that 😇

So I nominate The Painted Man

Sounds good, let me know when you get an answer. In the meantime I will think about which format I prefer, audiobook or paperback 😂

message 22: by Anni (new)

message 23: by Petrik (new)

Petrik (petrikleo) | 1546 comments I'm gonna be brutal and nominate Gardens of the Moon!!! :D

message 24: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments 1st) This is a great idea. I keep forgetting that these challenges are customizable. I should remember that and make mine more interesting for me too.

2nd) My pick for you will be The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher.

It's not nearly as long as some of the other books on your list and YA with nice layers. Slow buildup but solid story.

That's fine! As Iain already said I was planning to read it next month anyway, but I don't think a little extra motivation to finish it will hurt :)

Oh please do! I really, really liked his Osten Ard Series so far :) It's more classic fantasy and rather slow, but the characters are really great and vivid, his writing style reminded me a little of Robin Hobb's books.
