Read-a-Thon #4 - Team 4 Group Discussion

I'm up bright and early since we're travelling to Ireland today. I have a long trip ahead of me so I hope I'll be able today a ton of reading this first day.
We'll be staying with my hubby's family till the 28th so I might not get to read as much all of those days but I'll grab every chance I get 😊
I'm might not be able to check in with the team several times a day at least not the first days, but I'll make a plan and hopefully Emily can fit my books in where she thinks!
My book plans this week:
✔ 📚Bøn om tavshed (from p.83): set in different country
✔ 📚Twelve Slays of Christmas (from p.56): snow on cover, set in different country, new author
🎧Glass Sword (from 22%): blue cover, beautiful cover
🎧Christmas Camp (starting): snow on cover, new author
✔📚Bryd Tavsheden (starting): snow on cover, chilly atmosphere, set in different cover
✔ 📚 Snedronningen: Et eventyr i syv historier: childrens book
✔ 📚 Grantræet: childrens book

This is my first time participating in ATY and the Read-a-Thon. Looking forward to getting to know you all :)
I'm currently listening to The Witch With No Name by Kim Harrison, and hope to finish it today.
It works for the following tasks:
15. Audiobook - (I have 5 hours left on it).
18. Set in a different country
I'm also reading Love You to Death by Shannon K. Butcher. I have about 135 pages left and will definitely finish it today.
It works for:
5. Reject prompt - A books about a serial killer.
Happy Read-A-Thon everyone!
Here's the link to our group spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
I'll be updating that sheet as regularly as I can -- at least once a day through Christmas, but I should be able to do it more often after.
I ask that you post a progress post each day (or as often as you can). Just tell me how many pages you've read, audiobook hours you've listened to, and books you've completed.
If you know what you are reading ahead of time, feel free to let me know which prompts it works for and I'll pencil them in.
Looking forward to this!! :)

Just a heads up that prompt 7 has been corrected to: Read a book with a character born after 2000 (child main character)
Just updated the spreadsheet! Thanks Laura!
Also, can you add the link to our spreadsheet to the opening post so it's easy to find?

No problem Debra! Have a great party!
No problem Debra! Have a great party!

I should be able to get some good reading time in today and maybe tomorrow before the Christmas Eve/Christmas Day festivities limit my time.
I'm just starting

Snow on cover
Blue cover
Reject (a character's occupation central to plot, among others)
Borrowed from library
Set in a country different than my own
Book by a new author
Happy reading everyone!

I, too, will be able to read a lot today and tomorrow, but less on 12/24 and 12/25. I'm reading a lot of cozy, easy books.
My first book is:
High Rising

snow on cover
blue cover
set in a country different than my own
book by a new author
cold or chilly atmosphere
I'm excited to be doing the Team challenge for the first time!

Currently reading: The Bear and the Nightingale (from pg. 80): snow on the cover, first published in January, borrowed from the library, book with a beautiful cover, set in a country that is not my own, set in a chilly/cold atmosphere, blue cover, fits an AtY challenge (authors debut novel), and set in a village (reject prompt)
Plans for this week: (bolded books are completed & more books to be added)
Books:
-->The Girl in the Tower: snow on the cover, purple on the cover, cold/chilly environment, first published in January, set in a country that isn't my own, borrowed from the library, and beautiful cover
-->The Winter of the Witch: snow on the cover,cold/chilly environment, first published in January, set in a country that isn't my own, and beautiful cover
--> Oz: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: borrowed from the library, graphic novel, children's book, and finish in one sitting (hopefully, will update)

I read 167 pages during our flights so that will be my total for today.
Happy reading and see you tomorrow 😊
Welcome Lynette! I’ll add your info to the spreadsheet as soon as I get home later this evening. Happy reading!

Evidence of the Affair (
Sadie (born after 2000, never read author before and library book)
This One Summer (Graphic Novel, never read author before, purple cover and library book)
Nine Perfect Strangers (Not in my country and library book)

Anyway, this is my plan for the week:
* I am reading Airman, and have exactly 119 pages pending, so it can count for the challenge.

Can count for : blue/purple cover, ATY, borrowed from the library
* The Night Circus
Can count for : ATY, Beautiful cover and fits for reject prompt (set in a circus) , a new author.
* Double Down.
One of the books of the Wimpy Kids series, counts for ATY, borrowed from the library and with a character born after 2000 (child main character).
* Fruits Basket, Vol. 14.
It's a manga, so it counts for graphic novel. I will read this tomorrow sunday and I am pretty sure I can do it in one sitting :)
* The Incal.
It's also a graphic novel, but it's huge, so not one sitting for this one, it's an ATY, a new author, and although it was published in chapters, the collection - according to Wikipedia - was published in December 2010, so I guess it can count for that too.
And all of them can count for a book set in a country different from my own ... except maybe The Incal which is science fiction and I am not sure where is set.
I will also try to read a couple of picture books :)
Games: Kick-off Done.

Pages read: 266

Completed 12/22 game

160 pages read. I only have 116 pages left in Mr. Dickens and His Carol so I should finish it tomorrow.
I won't have much reading time on Christmas Eve or day but next up will be Census which could work for:
Blue cover
Reject prompt (A book featuring a character with a mental, physical or learning disability)
Borrowed from library
A book by a new author
I also participated in the kick-off and Miles of Pages.
I spent most of the day out of town with friends, but I managed to get 137 pages read of Crazy Rich Asians (which is moving so quickly and easily... perfect for this time of year!).
Ok I have updated the spreadsheet through here! Please keep me posted on pages you've read and books you've completed! Great first day, everyone!

Whoops! I’ll fix that number in the morning.
We only need one person to do the game each day, so I’ll just record the first person who posts that they have done it.

Debra, because you only had 50 pages for it, I can't count it towards the prompts. I did add it to your page count though!
Bernadette, I've updated your totals!
Evelyn, that's great! I added you down for that prompt.
Lauren, I've updated your totals and added your books to those two prompts.
Silvia, I put you down for the comic book/graphic novel prompt!
Ladies who finished books -- do any of those count for the ATY challenge?
Laura, we can open up blocks #5, #16, #21, and #23!
Great work team!

Whoop! I know what the last cover is -- only because I read it and loved it this year. (view spoiler)

I would guess the same as Silvia for squares 16 and 21 but the others don't look familiar.

Okay. Thanks, Emily.

I just finished Crazy Rich Asians, which was 527 pages and I read it so quickly! Enjoyed it a lot.
I've updated the spreadsheet to reflect everything in this thread up to this point.
Laura, you can open up #11, #18, and #20.

Debra, is the page count separate from the audiobooks? Or is that the page count for the audiobook you listened to?
Just want to make sure I'm not double counting!
Just want to make sure I'm not double counting!

I had just 119 pages pending.
It works for:
4. Read a book with a purple or blue cover

11. Read a book that you borrowed from the library
18. Read a book set in a country different from your own
22. Read 6 books that count for the AtY challenge (max 2 per member)
Game
The Grinch Book Tag Done

I finished Mr. Dickens and His Carol and started Census for a total of 146 pages read today.
I don't know if it counts because I already finished my challenge but Mr. Dickens works for A book about or inspired by real events.
I also finished listening to Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. It doesn't count for any tasks since I had less than the equivalent of 100 pages left but I think it counts for the 1.5 hours of audiobook.
Also, on a personal note, with those 2 completed, I have met my GR goal of 100 books for the year! This is by far my best reading year ever and challenges and this group were a big help in motivating that!
It counts. Laura mentioned in the intro thread that, since so many people have already finished their challenge, they are allowing books to count for the ATY challenge prompt if they fit a prompt at all (even if you are already done with the challenge).
And CONGRATS! on meeting your goal!! I hit 90 and I was itching to up it to 100 but I don't think I'll make it for the year (only at 91 right now). That's a huge accomplishment!

91 (or whatever number you end up with) is amazing as well! Last year I struggled to reach my goal of 50.

Same! I was frantically reading my 52nd book on New Years Eve night to try to finish ATY by midnight! I feel really accomplished this year (and you should too!). I'm hoping to do 100 next year, but my husband and I are trying to get pregnant, so if that does happen, I'm sure I won't be hitting that goal haha!
