Welcome back to Let’s Read Together! We’re here to read the books, we’re turning the pages, we’re on the road again, taking that old time rock and roll, drinking the kool-aid, eating the snacks, throwing the game, tumbling the dice, cracking wise, wising cracks, we’re a couple of savages! I know that none of that made sense to you, but I promise it will once you meet today’s guest, Bob Hansen.
Bob and I love a certain movie that came out in 1968. A very famous movie with an iconic twist ending. You probably all know the name of this movie, The Planet of the Apes, but did you know that it was originally a sci-fi book written by the French author, Pierre Boulle? Today our book is La Planète des Singes, the novel that inspired the 1968 classic starring Charlton Heston, 4 sequels, 2 prequels, a cartoon series, and a Tim Burton remake that we’d all rather pretend didn’t happen (Tim Burton included possibly).
So sit back, relax, and get ready for a 40 minute podcast that mostly deals with the movies inspired by this book, rather than the book itself. Also, if you’re on the fence about seeing the latest Ape Movie, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, take our advice and go see it! It’s fantastic!
