There are a lot of space opera books that mention terraforming or some other change in climate of a region of a planet, either for good or for bad. One of the books the the Silver Ships series has ice chunks from the asteroid belt or a ringed planet thrown at an inner planet that was too dry for trees.

This article on Tor mentions several more SF books that have this as a crucial part of the plot

Little Fuzzy (Fuzzy Sapiens, #1) by H. Beam Piper Little Fuzzy by H. Beam Piper is the only book that Tor mentioned in that article that I tend to reread. In that book the climate change part can be overlooked if you aren’t careful, but the draining of so much swampland was the reason for the Fuzzies to migrate, directly due to a climate change.

Yes most space opera takes place on ships and doesn’t mention planets much, but some do. Do you recall a book with fondness that has climate change as a plot point? At least loosely space opera, so planets other than Earth please.

Edit: loosening this topic to ecosystem change. So it includes changes due to introduction of a new species or drastically reducing the population of one particular species. This often has a domino effect that is not foreseen.

Another of my favorite books fits this topic: Mirabile by Janet Kagan Mirabile by Janet Kagan. Several of the plot points involve ecosystem change. Trying to avoid spoilers, I’ll give one with the serial numbers filed off. Wild Critter W sometimes spawns nasty dangerous offspring, a hazard for humans and domestic animal D. D is too stupid to not eat plant P which poisons D. W likes to eat young P and it doesn’t poison W. So if we kill off W, P proliferates, and all the D die.
