Bookish New Year's Resolutions

1. Read more poetry. I feel this is a segment of literature I've really neglected.
2. Actually read some new/current releases. I am always one (or ten...or fifty...) year(s) behind, it seems. I'd like to actually have some opinions about "favorite books of 2019" at the end of the coming year.
3. Start a notecard book review/report box. I haven't been reviewing books much at all in the past year or two, and Goodreads isn't guaranteed to last "forever." I want to try writing just a few lines, plus basics like title, date read, library vs owned, etc., on an index card for each book I read this year and keeping them in an index card box alphabetically by author. If I end up enjoying this project, I will keep it up year after year.

- Try and read more ebooks, I prefer my dead tree babies but I should embrace the digital age just a little
- Write more reviews and actually use my blog
- Do a reading journal, my daughter started one this year and I watched her flourish with her read (which she struggled with) so I thought I should do it this year too

DNF books, that aren’t very good...
- the world is full of great books, so don’t waste your time!
Abandon series, that I have grown tired of...
- there is no rule that says, that I have to read them all!
Enjoying reading a book does not have a deadline...
- it is not the end of the world not to finish a challenge on time!
So, my new year book resolution will be something like:
Read what you want - it’s just for fun 😄

Mine are as follows:
- As every year, I'll try to read more non-fiction;
- Continue the Wheel of Time series;
- Read any physical books that I bought the past years but never read.
My goals for 2019:-
1. Read 119 books;
2. Actively participate in the groups I am a member of on goodreads;
3. For every 3 books I own and read, I can buy a new book;
4. Use my library every month; and
5. Read every day

The 2 challenges I’ve signed up for are Clearing the Shelves and Serial Reader.
I’ve got a stack of books from challenges I didn’t manage to complete this year so my plan is to alternate between my “leftovers” and a book I’m in the mood to read.

-borrow books from the library more often
-donate books
-not being afraid to DNF a book I’m just not into
-be realistic about reading challenges; don’t over extend myself
-cut down on screen time and read more books!

2. Set a lower reading goal so I can read some of my big books - Anna Karenina, A Winter's Tale for example
3. Read at least 6 classics
4. Read at least 6 business books
5. Finish Harry Potter - I have the last book left. I also need to finish a couple of other series.
6. I've gotten pretty good at not buying books new at least. I do have a used book problem....I need to read some more that I have before I go to anymore library sales, thrift stores or yard sales...

2. Read at least 2 Autobiographies or Biographies
3. Read some of my long books
4. Finish reading a book from my currently reading shelf that I put on hold.
5. Start using the library more for must have books
6. Read at least 6 books from my bookshelves or e-reader
7. Write more reviews on books
1. Read books from my own shelves.
2. Continue to use the library and limit myself to buying no more than 12 books.
3. Be willing to reduce challenge goals or abandon challenges if I’m not enjoying myself.
4. Make time for rereading.

4. Make time for rereading.

- Read 100 books
- Participate in more reading challenges
- Participate in more group reads and buddy reads
- Make some bookish friends (hopefully the previous two goals help with that)
- Read more new releases
- Finish 5 series that I've started in previous years
- Read more big books (500+ pages) and,
- Read more new to me authors

1.) Read more NF - I love history...why have I been pushing NF off?
2.) Read more Classics - They were my first loves. When I was younger, that’s all I read. I need to get back to them.
3.) Read more with a group and/or buddies.
4.) Enjoy books again - 2018 was my worst reading year. Which means I’m due for my best!!!
Are you finally going to clear those shelves in 2019 and read all those books that have been gathering dust for too long?
Do you wanna finish a particular series you've started this year? Do you plan to read and learn more about a particular topic? Or do you vow not to buy any new books at all in 2019?
Let us know what your bookish New Year's Resolutions are!
