message 105: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 1033 comments I finished 2 this weekend.
One was a new author to me.
If He Wakes by Zoe Lea
It was good, but it was the kind of book that makes you scream, "just tell her/him. Talk to each other people!"
Vicki' Review

The second one was by an old favorite kind of author, Phillip Margolin. The Perfect Alibi (Robin Lockwood #2) by Phillip Margolin
It was also very good and had A LOT going on with interconnected cases. It was the second book in the Robin Lockwood series, which I didn't realize, but it read very well as a stand alone.
Vicki's Review

message 112: by Luz (new)

Luz Aponte-Yanes | 2 comments Hi Everyone. I just finished Blood Betrayal and am currently reading Blood Web by Tessa Dawn. It’s a pretty intense vampire series which one of my friends recommended. I’m not a huge fan of vampire or werewolf books but I definitely recommend this series. I’m also listening to Sandstorm by James Rollins. It’s ok but I’m having a hard time trying to grasp the storyline. Enjoy your reads!! - Luz

I added this series! Thank you for the recommendation :) Looks grotesque and bloody. Enjoy the audiobook!

As for An Anonymous Girl, I haven't read it yet. I just realized it's by the same authors, will try it :) Have you read it?

Aqsa what book are you reading?

message 133: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 1033 comments I just finished Sadie.
I liked the second half better than the first half.
I actually read the first half on the kindle and the second half was a library book. I thought it read much better as a physical book because of the format.
I am giving it 3 stars. It was ok good, but not my favorite.

I'm currently reading Where the Heart Is. I'm so happy to finally be reading it. It's been on my TBR forever and I recommended it for one of my real life book clubs so I finally have a reason to push it up my list. I've just started, but I'm really enjoying it.

I'm also just finishing Daughter of Moloka'i. It's really good, but I'm not loving it like I did Moloka'i. I think it lingered a bit too much in the middle.

I also just started The Beantown Girls. I'm reserving judgement on this one for now. It didn't grab me right away, but it has the potential to be good.

Thereadingbell | 311 comments I just finished The Chalk Man I enjoyed it lots of twist and turns I thought I figured it out a few times and each time i was wrong.

message 136: by Cori (new)

Cori (camead) | 21 comments I'm currently reading The Winter Sister. So far it is good, but I keep finding myself having to do other things. When I pick it up again I want to finish it, life has just gotten in the way! I'm about half way through, though.

I'll be reading V.C. Andrew's Flowers in the Attic series, soon! I read #4 on a whim because I found it in Ollie's, now I want to finish the rest!

There is a second book to An Anonymous Girl?

message 138: by Vicki Willis (last edited Mar 11, 2019 04:21PM) (new)

Vicki Willis | 1033 comments @Cori No, there is no second book to that one. I think she meant she liked The Wife Between Us and also the author's second book An Anonymous Girl.

Aqsa (her_747) | 21 comments Currently reading The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue. This is a reread and loving it again. Also reading The Invisible Man.

Paula | 35 comments I recently finished Where the Crawdads Sing. Wonderful read!

message 143: by Laurie (new)

Laurie Wasserstein (wasserstein) | 2 comments I agree. Where the Crawdads Sing is beautifully written with a great story line. The description of the marshes and the marsh wildlife are enchanting.

Cori (camead) | 21 comments I just began Flowers in the Attic. I cannot believe the secrets hidden in this book! I had no idea, other than the well known brother and sister affair.

I loved that series! It was so fun. I read it twice, once in paper and once in audio.

I just picked up Lincoln in the Bardo on audio and put it right back down. I don't know if it's a book I would find interesting at all in physical form, but the audio was definitely not for me. It was confusing and disjointed.

I then picked up Wolfhunter River because I really enjoy the Stillhouse Lake series. I've just started, but I am already really engaged and looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

I also picked up The Book Thief finally! It's been on my TBR forever. I've only just begun, so I don't really have an opinion yet, but the format seems a little strange. I'm hoping it smooths out a bit as the story gets going.

Oh I cannot wait to hear what you have to say about The Book Thief

message 149: by Aty (new)

Aty Hi! I’m currently reading “21 lessons for the 21st century” by Yuval Noah Harari. Maybe 10% into it and absolutely enjoying its relevance, intelligent discussions. It’s very well written and considering the topic is quite an easy flowing read. Harari is very good with words. I can’t say I agree with all his arguments but it is still fascinating to read an opposing idea that’s developed so well and clearly. Totally recommend if you are interested in what’s happening in the world around us and what could potentially happen in near future.
