Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments What She Knew What She Knew (Jim Clemo #1) by Gilly Macmillan by Gilly Macmillan

When an eight-year-old disappears while on an outing with his mom, his devastated parents have to deal with public blame while the police struggle to make progress in the case.
It's a realistic portrait of what happens with the current social media culture. Good psychological thriller. 3.5 stars

Deb Jones (feisty56) | 99 comments One of my reading passions is for the crime/mystery/police procedural series of books. I've found a new one and look forward to getting to know Ian Rutledge better. I've just completed the first title, A Test of Wills by Charles Todd.

A Boy Made of Blocks A Boy Made of Blocks by Keith Stuart by Keith Stuart

An autistic boy named Sam, who has trouble relating to the world, learns new skills - and bonds with his father - when he becomes immersed in the game "Minecraft." Good story by an author with an autistic child. 3.5 stars

This was from my middle-of-the-pack challenge. My next book is #488 on my TBR list, a mystery featuring Josephine Tey as the sleuth, London Rain by Nicola Upson.

Ian Rutledge #2. England, 1920's. Rutledge is a shell-shocked Scotland Yard Detective involved in a family's long-lasting tragedies.
It's all pretty grim stuff.

Butch Karp #3

I'm a fan of the Karp series but this is not the best entry in the series.

Note--significant amount of ugly child abuse.

I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of her work.

A powerful new pharmaceutical - effective against a large array of autoimmune diseases - is about to undergo human trials in Australia. The inventor, David Tran, should be very wealthy if the drug is marketed.....but he dies before that happens. Excellent medical mystery. 4 stars

I was so glad that I discovered her books. She is such a fantastic author. The Soft Talkers, The Beast Within, A Stranger in my Grave were all excellent. I've been searching out more of her books to read.

It's, yes, Tallulah Bankhead, dahling, involved in several murders and the Red Scare of the late 1940's--early 1950's. Big fun with a "machine-gun barrage of witticisms".

Me too for the most part. I've got a few on order at the moment. I do find it can be slow sometime but it's probably because most of them come from the UK and I'm out here on the West Coast. I don't mind waiting, just get impatient when I check the mail and no books have arrived. It's an addiction.. :0)
